I hope ANTC is much better than NTC. NTC has noble objectives, but the methods of
teaching by counterexample are intolerable to my way of thinking. I heartily recommend
that anyone considering going to NTC not do so until NTC philosophy and scripting
changes. Never treat a commander like you don't want a boy treated, even if the goal
is to teach the commander not to do that. Period. No, I don't care if the lesson is
good or the motives are pure. The means must be holy, too.

http://www.csn.net/~mpj/fixntc.htm gives the gory details of what I'm talking about.
There is much good about NTC that should be preserved, though. I'd like to go back and
take it again sometime after they eradicate the negative example and harsh spirit, and
then I would consider taking ANTC. When I attended, there were some good training
sessions, and some opportunity for fellowship and making new friends with brothers in
Christ.

I do enjoy dutch oven cooking, but not on backpacking trips. :-) I am also a proponent
of the patrol method. It works, when you do it right. It helps boys develop into godly
leaders.
