Well, I happen to like the Phil fw hub on my Sam Hillborne.  Will
admit that it was done (a) because it was something I wanted, having
lusted after them in the 1980's, and (b) got an extremely good deal on
it.

Would I do it again?  Probably not.  The rest of my bikes have
cassettes and am quite happy with them.  Although am thinking that in
a few years the availability of 8 and 9 speed cassettes might be as
limited as 7 speed freewheels are currently.  (Just received a
Shimanopore freewheel today from Rivendell.  As backup.)

Also, while I like the Shimano freewheel removal system, never did
like the SunTour version.  Used to strip them on a regular basis.  The
four pronger was better, but still not great.

Oh, and while quill stems are just fine, don't have any problems with
a threadless system.  Except they may be more prone to tinkering.
