Hi
I have similar motivations as Kim when comparing whether to use RB2006.

Almost everybody I've run into loves RB2006; it's a huge =20
improvement over previous versions.

If you check the feedbacks you'll find many, many criticisms of the =20 2005/2006 versions. The ones critical of the interface are the among =20 the highest ranked of ALL feedbacks. I sent a list along to Geoff at =20
one stage to verify this and even he was surprised.
Sure wish his surprise would result in bringing back tool and inspector palettes to the software.

Whilst Joe might find everybody loves it, from what I've read here most people - even those who like it - find many things which don't work or are missing.
Me too. I'd put up with slowness and a lousy IDE if the speeds and app sizes were improved, and they're not... drastically not. This product is so large now, because of frameworks, that the product should be licensed "by the framework". I asked many moons ago whether RB would run and compile single-platform with all but one platform's frameworks removed. It's no longer as convenient to download RB anymore, it has become so huge it requires HIGH-SPEED broadband. Have rarely been able to resume an RB download, a real headache starting over and over for a 33MB file that expands to over 120MB on my drive. RB5.5 is a 19.5MB file that expands to 38.1MB by comparison.

I have tried (over and over) to use the new version but simply can't =20
stand it. I find it slow, buggy and poorly designed. I'm no longer =20
paying the subscription and won't do so again unless there are major =20
changes. The shame of it is that I loved using RB 5.5.5.
I am also in this camp. I enjoyed this product for five years, and then snubbed with 2006. I cringe at the notion that I will have to use RB 2006 when Universal Binary support arrives, choices are limited. Bring back tools and inspector pals and I'm happier. Not holding my breath anymore.

Another Mac dev IDE product, SuperCard, announces Universal Binary support in second quarter this year (www.supercard.us). Coming from a one-man shop, that's more than REALbasic has been able to announce. I spent more money annually on REALbasic, and expect much more positive and informative news announcements.

Yours truly
