I don't think "fat-fingering" is common enough to warrant the operational 
overhead associated with changing configs. Especially as deployments get larger 
and larger, and disk failures become increasingly common.

Put another way, with this change, I don't think people will run into 
fat-fingering and then complain about how Kudu did the wrong thing because Kudu 
started up successfully. I do think people today "forget" to do the extra steps 
involved in recovering from disk failures and see Kudu crash, and are then left 
with a bad taste in their mouth.
