A really good alternative is Allwaysync. I actually found the problem with Synctoy when I ran Allwaysync after I had run Synctoy and it found a bunch of files Synctoy skipped. Allwaysync is free for upto 20,000 file syncs a month. Above that and you need the pro version ($20). I now buy a copy for each family PC I build.
There's also Filesync and Cmdsync (shareware - $15). I use Cmdsync for scheduled synchronizations (~85K files).
