BOTH. winamp, afaik and i'm good with it, has no concept of comps, and reads no comp tags at all of any kind. however, it is a mainstream app, and hardly alone in this regard. i think the same is true of WMP. however, it DOES have TPE2/Album Artist support. and in winamp, you can freely and easily choose to browse/sort via TPE2 instead of TPE1. Philip Meyer;355899 Wrote: > If so, you should be complaining in a WinAmp forum, not here. this is hilarious, and exactly the kind of response i expect from a SC-centric persona on the SC forums. but what should i be complaining about there? they aren't doing anything "wrong" per se, unless you want to fault them for hijacking TPE2 to mean album artist, which they didn't spearhead. they just conform to the reality, and maybe one day they will support comp tags, who knows? but for now they don't. but thats hardly something to complain about. Philip Meyer;355899 Wrote: > > >and maybe now you're beginning to see the problem. > Not really. b/c you are purposely putting your head in the sand. SC is NOT the big dog on the block. itunes, winamp, WMP, and the other mainstream apps are. SC needs to conform to THEM, not the other way around. SC, now part of logitech, is currently trying to make this a more commercial, general public product. to be successful at that, they need to be as compatible with the big dogs as possible. thats why they enacted 8001. as i've told you now about 10000 times, i can't sort/browse my music properly in winamp without TPE2 values. therefore SC needs to understand that i can't leave that tag blank on comps. now, just what is it you don't get? -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.3b - Win XP Pro SP3 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53822 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
