I am going to assume that you don't already have a turntable?

For a full kit ready to go, a friend of mine bought the following for
$238. It includes the software, direct-drive turntable, all cables, and
mixer/pre-amp. ' Non-USB to Digital Turntable '

After helping him set it up, I bought the software and mixer/pre-amp to
use with my VPI Scoutmaster. So if one already has a turntable, the
software and mixer/pre-amp make for an easy way to get ones vinyl to
hard drive. If one has a newer computer, most of the time the on-board
sound card is good enough. It is at least worth a try and if it's not
up to your liking, one can always add a PCI sound card taylored to
making recordings.

If one just wants to do it cheap and dirty, Costco has ION USB
turntables for $90. They also have a better model ION with S tonearm
for $220 that additionally includes a direct iPod dock for those that
use iTunes.
