OK... So I do get the idea of two music directories, one for the stuff you play at home, and one for the stuff at a lower bitrate that you use to feed your portables...
It would be so clean if I simply had high bit rate stuff...and just create a low bitrate mirror... But, of course, life ain't that simple... Many of my files are MP3/AAC files that I will play at home and on my portable at the same bitrate...no conversion necessary... That said... Do any of you do this: 1. Home Audio Directory - Contains all FLAC/Lossless files, as well as the lower bitrate source material (like iTunes/Amazon downloads, etc...). Point SqueezeBox to this directory. 2. Portable Audio Director - Contains all the lower bitrate material (redundantly copied into this directory), as well as the downconverted FLAC/Lossless files. Point iTunes (or equivalent player/portable synchronize manager) to this directory. Seems like it would be a nightmare to keep these guys in synch...
