I think the problem is that something big should be done regarding the
complete handling of compilation albums, but no one is going to be
willing to do something big at the moment due to limited testing and
development resources. So it's either small patches that solves part of
the problem or not doing anything at all.
In reality there are more important bugs for Logitech to focus at, for
example the problems where some people don't get the 7.6 scanner to
work reliable on Windows.
The thing that's obvious to me is that it's hard to make everyone happy
and cover all special cases. In my mind, SBS should handle most tracks
correctly without the need to manually add or remove tags and offer the
user the possibility to manually add extra tags like COMPILATION=0 or
COMPILATION=1 if he/she wants something special. I also think ARTIST
and ALBUMARTIST should represent a real artist and not values like
"Various Artists", but unfortunately some tagging software and online
databases doesn't agree with me, for example Musicbrainz.
