I have just acquired a system that can burn DVDs. I know there are both -R and +R DVDs. Initially, I'm just recording computer data, but in time I may record some video.

My questions: Is one preferred over the other? Are the two formats commonly used for different purposes? Which one is most likely supported by DVD movie players?

I'm hoping to have a new triple boot laptop running by the next meeting with SuSE Linux 9.2, FreeBSD 5.3, and Windows XP. (Sorry! I need the Windows for testing databases I write.)

Thanks...
