Hm.  That's not very nice.  MIDI and guitars really shouldn't be

Yes, now you come to mention it again -- you had a proposal which I 
found quite compelling, but I can't remember all the details now.  Any 
likelihood you can find it and summarise/paste it onto the wiki?  I 
expect I can look it up if you can't.  Perhaps it could be the missing 
piece of the jigsaw.

Did you mean "Instrument to Track" in the last sentence, btw?  If so, I 
don't see how that would solve the guitar problem.
