Ahh, that's enough stress load already there, helps explain things. ;-)

I ran KDE for many years, gave up on KDE4. Massive resource hog, 
cumbersome, added tons of eye candy while wrecking ease of use. At least 
the 4.6 version is almost as ready for primetime as KDE claimed v4.0 was 
...
