"Maybe I am missing something here. But I do not think that removing
numbers from RTR items is really that hard. "

  Hello -

I hope it is easy enough for you to teach me. I would appreciate learning
the easy way to do this - I have tried several solvents with no luck - I did
not want to damage the base paint so did not use Floquil thinner, brake fluid,
or similar. Can you give us some tips? I have always found it difficult to
remove lettering without damaging the base or surrounding finish - for all
brands and scales - not just SHS.

It might also be useful to refer, with the car in the box or perhaps on the
website, to a matching set of decals that could be used to replace the ones
that are removed - it's not always just a matter of size, font matching can be
harder and identifying the right ones from a catalog or online supplier is not
always obvious.

  Don again:

" We still have hundreds of decal sets left in
stock. We quit making them as we assumed that a "scale" modeler if they
wanted additional numbers on cars would just change them."

  Art again:

Just curious - what would it add to the price of your freight cars to include
a decal sheet of numerals only? You say it did not increase sales to do this
but what would the retail cost increase be?

If you included the decals with the standard product along with a sheet
explaining how to remove the lettering, hoards of "scale " modelers - maybe as
many as 20 or 30 - would love you. Thousands of hi-railers would be left
wondering what it was all about but they would still love you. Just think of
the Karma.

  Sincerely,

  Art Armstrong
