While this was true in the past, this has changed somewhat. Under
Lionel, most Flyer cars have been issued with prototype numbers on
their carbodies for the past few years. And the catalog number on
the box is now just a sequential inventory number.

Come now, you don't think SHS would've gotten away with using
American Flyer type numbering on their carsides? The scalers
would've howled, and the hard-core Flyer guys wouldn't buy SHS anyway
because "It's not Flyer."

Everybody complains about having to pay more, be it a little or a lot.

Decal collectors of the world, UNITE!!!

And these fine fellows are a minority within a minority. Seems like
it's aready been mentioned several times that unnumbered cars won't
and/or didn't sell. The HO, N and O manufacturers aren't offeing
unnumbered cars in their respective scales, that should indicate
something.

Perhaps if those wanting unnumbered cars would be willing to buy 20-
30 unnumbered cars (w/number decals) EACH this concept would work.
but I suspect that they would actually buy less than five (emphasis
on the less) of any given car type.
