I would appreciate learning the easy way to do this - I have tried several solvents with no luck - I did not want to damage the base paint so did not use Floquil thinner, brake fluid, or similar. Can you give us some tips? I have always found it difficult to remove lettering without damaging the base or surrounding finish - for all brands and scales - not just SHS. > > SNIP < =====================================================================
Art & List: After trying several methods, my favorite product for removing numbers is Joe's Model Trains Decal & Detail Remover. http://www.joesmodeltrains.com/products.htm I have been successful in removing the numbers without the underlying paint and finish. I just did an HO engine for a friend this weekend and have done some PRS cars. As for matching decals, try asking on the list. For example, after a post, Lee Johnson told me about Clover House transfers and Microscale decals for renumbering PRS PFE reefers. Hope this helps, John Gibson Rocklin, CA PS. Usual disclaimer about a product recommendation from a happy customer. I am not an owner, yada, yada . . . . Yahoo!
