Nothing wrong with 'accordian' action.  The prototype does it.

Unless the train has stopped perfectly, in a long freight train, the
engine could move several car lengths before the tail end starts to
move. Same thing if he starts to back up.

Makes for interesting stereo effects if you're sitting along side.
