You have opened an old sore; I cannot remain silent. The specific prototypes
for the AM Budd cars are the 85-foot Empire State Express (NYC) cars, built in
1941. Except that AM made them too short by over two inches. There is no
72-foot prototype for these cars. In fact, no other road had copies of these
cars.
