I use common Kadee #5 and Walthers HO couplers with the original trip pins.The 
magnetic uncouplers I use (see Files under Bob Nicholson) handle them with no 
problems. If necessary I can increase the radius of the trip pins by squeezing 
them with a pair of pliers - so simple you don't even need string!
