There is no such thing as "DCC friendly"!!!!!! It is a ploy from HO & On30
manufactures to sell new products. A switch has two running rails, two closure
rails, two points(non stub), two guard rails and a frog. In DC or DCC the frog
needs to be isolated from the rest of the rails electrically, because it needs
to change polarity.

The reason as far as I can tell was to hide the fact that their products were
not made correctly in the first place. So their new products came closer to
being correct, thus generating the buzz word 'DCC friendly' to sell the new
products.

Electrically there are no differences in the requirments!

What are you talking about, "DCC-friendly"?

... but we don't have a DCC-friendly track system comparable to Atlas HO, which
is bound to be a big stumbling block for those wanting to move up to S.

I think  most experienced S modelers know how to build a switch from scratch

Hi ....dave,

Of the 950+ members on this List, I wonder how many scratchbuild their own
turnouts?    Cheers...Ed L.
