a couple of years ago at an O scale national in New Jersey, there were some battery powered radio control guys selling their r/c systems to that market. it works great in large scale, and O scale was a natural next market to go for..... as systems get smaller equipment and battery life increases, this would be a wonderful thing for S scale. full DCC sound capabilities are available with these systems.... how deep are your pockets and what would you like to do..... so basically you can have pretty much all the functions of DCC without the power to the rails...... one suggestion - NEVER leave batteries unattended when charging !!!!!!!!!!! EVER !!!!!!!!
