Hi all --

Wow – I completely missed that it was Friday. And isn’t that just the way it
works, Ed?

However, this week was locomotive week. I lubed and tuned most of the
diesels. These are all brass – the AM chassis don’t need this, and I don’t
have any SHS diesels as they came out after I had all the diesels I needed.
(TOO bad!) Not that I don’t like my diesels, but brass model drives are a
pain to keep running at peak performance. Most of them use a gearbox at each
axle plus a reduction tower rather than the “Athearn” style of a worm at the
top driving low speed spur gears, so the brass drives are noisy until well worn
in. The only quiet brass diesel I have is an Oriental SW1, and of course, it
lunched its motor after very little run time years ago. It used an unusual
crown and pinion drive, so before it will run again, I have to make a more
conventional gear tower and re-motor it. But the model IS a thing of beauty.
  Fun, fun, fun...

On a different topic, Vic Cherven. Jr. has been appointed as the new NASG
secretary.

Have a good Thanksgiving!

Now that I'm cranked up, I was asked to come back to work. No problem, now I
have the money to buy what I need :o)
