I recall reading something like what Bud mentions; my recollection was that one 
drilled the back of the MV lens (and I am unclear whether they are, in fact,
still being made--they don't have a website, nor have I seen any ads for some 
years), but it was for a 1.5 volt minibulb rather than a GOW or GOR kind.
Apparently it was quite convincing, the minibulb being quite close in scale to 
the electrical bulb used in prototype headlights.
