Hi Peter,

Those are Foothill Model Works “Code 83 Fishplates”, which I use on the inside
of code 100 rail every 39 feet. I also saw a simulated joint with a razor saw.
I use Grandt Line “Code 70 Dummy Fish Plates” on the inside of code 83 rail,
with the FMW code 83 fishplates on the outside. I also use Grandt line code
100 fish plates on the outside of code 100 rail. Everything is a compromise at
some point!

Hi Roger,

Very useful info.

I noticed in the photo that you have some joint bars on the turnout. Do you
have any of those on the inside of the rail? I use code 83 rail and I have
bought matching joint bars, but they are way too big and get hit by the flange
of the equipment. I've thought of using code 70 joint bars instead, but have
not bought those yet. Maybe if I would switch to proto:64 wheels I won't have
that problem, but that opens up a whole other can of worms...

  Your opinions may vary. Ha!
