Hello, I am sure Dr Kirby did not wish to prolong the debate in public, but there is no reason for him to grumble even to himself.
If Pascal uses his code, why, imitation is known to be the highest form of flattery. There is no reason for Dr Kirby to be touchy about his code, and I think Pascal is also being a bit immature when he thinks that Dr Kirby is prolonging the debate. Dr Kirby wrote that to me. I am responsible for sending that reply to the whole group. I think both Dr Kirby and Pascal are doing good work, but are maybe a bit stressed out and overreacting to small things. But this is just a guess - based on my occasional misbehaviour with people when I am stressed out. I suggest both of them take it easy for a few days and spend time reading something like Jerome K Jerome's Three Men in a Boat or Bertrand Russell's The Conquest of Happiness, have fun, and make peace, and not do silly things like get off this mailing list. Keep up the good work, (email x work = constant) Cheers, Aniket "Men who are unhappy, like men who sleep badly, are always proud of the fact. Perhaps their pride is like that of the fox who had lost its tail; if so, the way to cure it is to point out to them how they can grow a new tail. Very few men, I believe, will deliberately chose unhappiness if they see a way of being happy. I do not deny that such men exist, but they are not sufficiently numerous to be important. I will therefore assume that reader would rather be happy than unhappy. Whether I can help him realize this wish, I do not know; but at any rate, the attempt can do no harm." - Bertrand Russell in "The Conquest of Happiness" On 16/02/07, Christian Bartolomaeus <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Pascal, > > I tried to follow the joyless discussion of the last days and must say > that I'm really sorry that it went as it went. > > * On 2007-02-15 pgeorges ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote: > > [...] > > As said before, I code for 3 reasons : > > - add the functionalities to Scid I want to use; > > - have fun doing it; > > - share with others my work. > > > > With Kirkby around on this Scid mailing list, the last point is no > > longer enjoyable, so I'll stop it.
