Although by default on all LMS versions/systems I've tested, players are created with this option set for adjustable volume, it obviously can happen in some cases that the player is created with volume fixed at 100% (I'd still like to understand why/how). Because it is a very dangerous option, I've changed that now and squeeze2upnp players do *not* let LMS offer the option to have fixed 100% volume. The fact that flc,pcm,mp3 does not work is a problem as if pcm works and flc works as well independently, then they both should. What happens still is that the Onkyo reports to only support up to 16/48 in PCM, so when trying to play a 24/96 track as pcm it will fail. But if flc codec is before pcm in the codec list, it should play flac as flac and what I observe on my own system (7.7.5) is that even pcm are transcoded to flac - a bit strange but flc really takes precedence. On my configuration, I need to have pcm first to have LMS send pcm instead of flac. Hence flac is 255,255,255 :-) Having said that, it is true that the version now does not REMOVE the flac header when there is one, but the option controls if a header shall be INSERTED when there is none. I did a proto version that was doing the removal when the no header option was selected, but I never published it because I thought that a flac file with a proper header (made by a flac encoder) would always be accepted, when streamed, by any player. The pause/unpause was a different story where LMS creates its own flac file on the fly (using sox or any other transcoder) and this is where PasTim had so many issues. What I'll do is the folllwing: if this is not an issue with HTTP encoding options, then I'll put my hands on a CR-N755 and solve it for you :-) Progress (of sorts). Via its native DLNA client it will play all my files as FLACs or MP3 as the case may be. Critically it will play the 24/96 FLACs and correctly reports them as same (there is a Display option in certain modes). Via its USB input and using Pippin's iPeng player on my iPhone it will also play everything but there is no report on what is actually being played in this mode. Via sq2u it doesn't like FLACs but instead plays 16/44 FLACs as PCM - the profile has pcm, flc, mp3 - MP3s are also OK. In this mode it won't play 24/96 FLACs at all. It skips to the next track. Occasionally if I add a track - Play Next in iPeng terms - it throws a wobbly. I suspect to do with pre-caching. Tim Your edit is correct. It is difficult to explain but flc, pcm, MP3 means pcm - I checked the logs - and no 24/96. Also the Onkyo refuses to display the file info in this mode. With PCM first it will display track info but it won't display track times or play 24/96. It's best with flc, pcm as most things work but no Spotify or BBC :( On BBC I applied the HLS fix early on and it works so d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103728 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I didn't quite explain why BBC Spotify don't work with flc, MP3. The Onkyo reports the Spotify stream as FLAC 16/44.1 but doesn't output anything. I don't think LMS can transcode from Ogg Vorbis to FLAC. BBC streams are mixed depending on whether its live or on demand and both crash the Onkyo with no sound. I am only doing all this to understand the limitations from the standpoint that lots of people ask me how to do digital music and I might start charging them to set it all up. This bit doesn't look right ! 18616 okay ... on no pcm, the Onkyo receives the flac and send goes wild and start answering with malformed UPnP messages. On the pcm, for some reason, as you suggested, LMS does not do flac to pcm (I'm not sure how clear is the logic that decides when LMS does flc to pcm transcoding if pcm is first in the codec list) and sends flac and same, the Onkyo goes wild and waist fro 15s before it asks for the next flac buffer. All that makes me think that it does not understand the flac file and likely it starts with the flac header - PasTim know very well how awfull that can be. So, 2 solutions here 1- Remove flac hears in the plugin options for the Onkyo. if this does not work, then 2- Although it does not seem correlated, you can try changing HTTP encoding option. The Onkyo does that funny HTTP request with open range so you can try the various options available there, starting with chunked, open range. Do not forget to STOP the current playback if any when you change paramaters, otherwise you might have funny side effects. The HTTP encoding option shall be non-correlated to file format in theory, but in reality it is. Without it there are some limitations as to what sq2u can send since, as I understand it, LMS doesn't provide 100% of the information in 'native' mode. From the manual the FLAC header setting is about pausing / re-positioning - I have tried all and it makes zero difference. With PCM as first the issue seems to be that a 24but FLAC gets sent as audio/x-flac with some weird settings codec:f c:255 s:255 r:255 which I can't believe are correct. If FLC is first everything gets sent as that and nothing (except mp3) plays. By contract a 16/44.1 Flac with pcm as the first option shows in the log as codec:p c:2 s:16 r:44100 which makes sense to me (and more importantly to the Onkyo). philippe_44 wrote: okay ... on no pcm, the Onkyo receives the flac and send goes wild and start answering with malformed UPnP messages. On the pcm, for some reason, as you suggested, LMS does not do flac to pcm (I'm not sure how clear is the logic that decides when LMS does flc to pcm transcoding if pcm is first in the codec list) and sends flac and same, the Onkyo goes wild and waits 15s before it asks for the next flac buffer (it is obviously doing something meanwhile and I suspect it is parsing the flac file trying to find some synchronization) All that makes me think that it does not understand the flac file and likely it starts with the flac header - PasTim know very well how awfull that can be. So, 2 solutions here. 1- Remove flac hears in the plugin options for the Onkyo. if this does not work, then 2- Although it does not seem correlated, you can try changing HTTP encoding option. For example, Sonos does not work with mp3 using chunked-encoding but does with flac - makes no sense, but this is what they do. One hypothesis is that because chunked-encoding is supposed to make sense when you stream something (i.e you don't know the size of what you'll send), sending a flac header in that case confuses the player as it is not expecting a file, but justa stream Ok. I see your logic. I will carry on testing tonight. What time is it in Canada ? As you say I am going to have to try one setting at a time. I am pretty certain that my LMS transcodes 24/96 properly but perhaps I am wrong. Does Squeezeplay do the transcoding if your PC output device is 16/44.1 ? I should also report that the Onkyo / sq2u will play Spotify OGG Vorbis via Triode's plugin as PCM 16/44.1 sq2u does not transcode, ever. With flc as the first codec in the list, try all the header settings in sq2u, then try the custom convert setting I referred to. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Does anyone know if the Triode Spotify plugin supports Erland's Dynamic Playlists ? I've got a large Spotify playlist that I'd like to use with my SBT, and this looks like it would be an ideal solution (avoiding server performance limits) if it actually works. I don't want to shell out for Erland's plugin if this isn't going to work... d6jg wrote: Tim Your edit is correct. It is difficult to explain but flc, pcm, MP3 means pcm - I checked the logs - and no 24/96. Also the Onkyo refuses to display the file info in this mode. With PCM first it will display track info but it won't display track times or play 24/96. It's best with flc, mp3 as most things work but no Spotify or BBC :( On BBC I applied the HLS fix early on and it works so flc, pcm, mp3 doesn't mean pcm provided LMS is set to support flac native and the Onkyo is reporting it's capabilites properly. Are you sure that when you use flc, mp3 it isn't processing files as mp3s? I hope phillippe may be able to interpret the logs, because something very odd is happening that I haven't heard of before. Is there some new problem in sq2u? When processing pcm my systems don't display track times either, but will handle 24/96. I can only assume that's an onkyo limitation. If you applied the BBC iPlayer HLS fix early on when the BBC f*d up iPlayer. you may want to the newer method that I pointed to. It worked better with sq2u for me. As far as I can recall the files are in aac codec, so check your file types for the aac types conversions supported. LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16-24 bit, 44.1-192kbps. I have an SB3 attached to the Onkyo which replaced a battered up Sony amp CD :) Have you produced a log when the codec is set to flc, pcm, mp3 with the http settings you have now?
