Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Getting LMS to transcode media on the fly
The bandwidth limiting option converts everything to mp3 on the fly, but you need to have lame installed on the system running LMS. In the player settings audio section, you will see the message 'The LAME encoder appears to be installed correctly on your system.' below the Bitrate Limiting dropdown box indicating that LMS has found lame. With bonding you can setup the system to always have the same MAC address regardless of which network interface you're using. You still need to have wpa_supplicant.conf setup with your wifi credentials and I set the mac address on the bonding interface, because it sometimes changes. It's great that the change allows jive to connect. The problem has been an issue with both squeezeplay and jivelite for a long time. I didn't test the change in an network isolated environment, so can't be sure what's causing the delay. Are you using bonding? I've noticed that sometimes it takes a longer time to connect via ssh to my aopen with it enabled? It's a small annoyance to have the ability to connect an ethernet cable when the wifi link fails and the same mac address regardless of which interface is active. sodface wrote: > Also, I posted an old APKBUILD file in another thread and for this patch > testing I updated it and I believe corrected the SPDX license identifier > to "BSD-3-Clause". I've uploaded new 'windows builds of squeezelite v1.9.9r1401' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/squeezelite/windows/) which includes a change that should fix the issue. If you have changed the buffer sizes to workaround the issue using the -b option, please removed it, or change the values back to the default *-b 2048:3446* before testing. There are very few reasons to change the default buffer sizes in squeezelite and in many cases, larger buffers cause playback issues. I'll investigate if it's possible to modify jivelite and squeezeplay to check for a remote lms server having been entered in the configuration and connect to it, if not, continue with auto discovery. It might end up being a chicken and egg situation, since sometimes the menus don't work at all if jive can't find lms, in which case modifying a settings file would be needed. If it's able to be updated, which version do you recommend? Yes you can. First stop any running local player instances of squeezelite. Then download the latest win32 zip from https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/squeezelite/windows/ and replace LocalPlayer/Bin/squeezelite-win.exe with the one from the zip file. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Squeezelite Still Crashing/c0000005 error/MSVCR100.dll
The localplayer plugin uses a very old version of squeezelite, v1.6 I think and it uses Visual Studio 2010 where all my builds are 2008 for 32bit and 2017 for 64bit. So it's possible that MS has introduced a change to these Visual C runtime dlls that is causing squeezelite to crash. Thanks for taking the time to research what's happening. Sorry, it's taken so long for me to reply. There is a lot of information to digest and I wanted to take the time to review it all. One thought I had was if enabling tcp keep alive would prevent the server closing the socket. I've sent you a PM with a test windows squeezelite build that enables 30 second tcp keep alives on the streaming socket. It's 32bit since my 64bit build laptop is waiting for a replacement power adapter to arrive. You should see this in the squeezelite debug log. Code: [13:52:01.701] set_keepalive:294 tcp keepalive enabled and I've included a patch file in the zip with the code change. I've add 'fab4-openvpn-2.4.10.zip' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/squeezeos/fab4-openvpn-2.4.10.zip/download) which only has the openssl version of openvpn and the tun kernel driver. Code: # Extract the zip file. cd /dev unzip fab4-openvpn-2.4.10.zip # Move openvpn to /usr/sbin and make it executable mv /dev/openvpn /usr/sbin chmod 755 /usr/sbin/openvpn # Move the tunnel kernel module mv /dev/tun.ko /lib/modules/2.6.26.8-rt16-332-g5849bfa # Create /etc/openvpn for your config files. mkdir -p /etc/openvpn # Copy/move your openvpn config files from /dev to /etc/openvpn Then in /etc/init.d/rcS.local add Code: #!/bin/sh # Load the tunnel kernel module. insmod /lib/modules/2.6.26.8-rt16-332-g5849bfa/tun.ko # Start openvpn /usr/sbin/openvpn --config /etc/openvpn/touch.ovpn --daemon # Make rcS.local executable chmod 755 /etc/init.d/rcS.local You can add any additional command line options you need as well. Be careful as you can end up blocking ssh access when openvpn starts and the only way to get it back is to factory reset the touch. I'd suggest you don't automatically start openvpn in rcS.local until you're confident that you have a working VPN connection and can still ssh into the touch. Also if you need openvpn to update /etc/resolv.conf then you'll also need to upload/create a script that parses DHCP options from openvpn to update resolv.conf and add something like this to your openvpn config file. Code: up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf Ralphy *1*-Touch, *5*-Classics, *3*-Booms, *2*-UE Radio 'Squeezebox client builds' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations=LL5P6365KQEXN=CA_name=Squeezebox%20client%20builds_code=USD=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114055 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Remote access to LMS: VPN, Port Forwarding, any tips?
I've been investigating adding SSL support to the community firmware and have built two versions of openvpn for the touch using mbedtls and openssl. Unfortunately, mbedtls doesn't support many ciphers or digests, nor TLS 1.3. Which is too bad as it's much lighter than openssl. I had already built openvpn with it before I realized those limitations. The touch can handle moderate traffic with openvpn-openssl without taxing the CPU. Here's a few top snapshots playing 16bit, 44.1Khz ALAC files over a remote DSL connection. I choose ALAC instead of FLAC since jive uses more CPU decoding ALAC. I've also been testing a version of squeezelite with SSL on the Touch and Radio to see if it's worth trying to add SSL support to the firmware and both devices have no problems playing direct https streams. Unfortunately, it's not straight forward to run squeezelite with squeezeplay. You need to change enableAudio=1 in Playback.lua and restart squeezeplay before squeezelite with run. Additionally on the Radio you have to modify several lua files to stop the automatic powering off the amp when the idle timer triggers. One neat feature using squeezelite on the touch is you can run separate instances on the RCA and SPDIF jacks for 2 zones and you can use Choose Player to control either one. The CPAN buildme.sh script creates both i386-linux-thread-multi-64int and i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int for my custom perl 5.28 and as well as the os installed 5.14 perl. I've been running LMS with both folders forever. I'm happy to clean up the image, however, it's likely better to just rebuild the CPAN modules on the old computer. Here are the 'perl modules' (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ucjyn58tgyhkfic/lms-perl-5.28-i386-cpan-modules.tar.gz?dl=1) and you might need 'these openssl library files' (https://www.dropbox.com/s/vwrllbae9n5i3ea/openssl-perl-5.28.tar.gz?dl=1). You can stickoops...extract the perl modules tar file in CPAN/arch/5.28 off the toplevel of where lms is installed. Mine is in /opt/logitechmediaserver so the full path is /opt/logitechmediaserver/CPAN/arch/5.28 I'm not sure where the release packages install lms, I only run lms from git. If SSLeay.so fails to load then you'll need to extract the openssl-perl tar file in /usr/local/lib using sudo tar -xf openssl-perl-5.28.tar.gz but try starting lms without extract it first. The default maximum sample rate in portaudio for squeezeplay is 384k so my builds won't playback anything higher. The only references to 768k I can think of are in the patch I apply to portaudio for squeezelite mac and windows only. It allows the playback of DSD512 via dop on those two platforms which I've had several requests recently. 1.1x seconds is just squeaking by the minimum required. Perhaps it's time to increase DECODE_AUDIO_BUFFER_SIZE to allow for a few more seconds of 384k? Let's see what the results are with the new 7.8.0r1291 builds which include your PR#9. You need to either install the patch package, if there is one from Synology. If not, you can build 'patch from source' (ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/patch). Alternately, have you tried running the 'arm sox binary from LMS' (https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/raw/public/8.0/Bin/arm-linux/sox)? It has dsd support. Any ideas/thoughts maybe As bpa mentioned check the permissions on both the lame and shineenc files, also confirm that /bin/bash exists on the NAS. Hawkeyenl wrote: > Thanks for the reply, I'll see to getting the LAME installation working > and try to downgrade the bitrate! lame on an arm cpu usually pegs the cpu at 100% usage, if you find the same, then as an alternative you could try 'shineenc' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/utility/lame-1.01r251-armel.tar.gz/download). You should be able to extract the tar file into the same folder as your sox binary and lms should find it, you might need to restart lms. The tarball includes the shineenc program and a lame script which just converts the command line options from lms from lame format to shineenc. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] (Some) music not playing on (some) players
I think the DS212+ uses an arm cpu. You could try downloading the 'lms arm sox binary' (https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/raw/public/8.0/Bin/arm-linux/sox) which has opus support and try running it on the NAS. If it works, you should be able to replace /volume2/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Bin/sox with the updated one, keeping a copy of the original file first. You may also need to change the permissions to match that of the current sox program. Quite often the execute permissions are dropped from downloaded files. I have finally managed to successfully build and test the Net-SSLeay 1.88 module with OpenSSL 1.1.1h and zlib support. To help troubleshooting during development I modified SystemInfo.pm to print the version info for the modules I've updated. Code: Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - TRUNK @ UNKNOWN Hostname: T430 Server IP Address: 192.168.1.27 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Windows 10 - EN - cp1252 Platform Architecture: 8664 Perl Version: 5.14.2 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread Audio::Scan: 1.02 Mozilla::CA: 20200520 Net::SSLeay: 1.88 - OpenSSL 1.1.1h 22 Sep 2020 IO::Socket::SSL: 2.068 Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0) Total Players Recognized: 2 The tipping point was the 'build log file for the Net-SSLeay 1.74 update' (https://ppm4.activestate.com/MSWin32-x86/5.14/1400/M/MI/MIKEM/Net-SSLeay-1.74.d/log-20160413T002508.txt) provided by ActiveState (AS) back in 2016. From the log I was able to determine that AS used Visual Studio 6.0 and likely Platform SDK (February 2003), 'the last version to support VS6' (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/Filter_SDK/Compile_AviSynth#Installing_MS_VC.2B.2B_1998) when building AS Perl 5.14. To get OpenSSL 1.1.1h to build with VS6 required changing all occurances of long long datatypes to __int64 and all LL format specifiers to i64. Attempts to build openssl with a newer MS compiler to avoid these changes have failed, so far, with link errors when creating SSLEAY.DLL for the Net-SSLeay module. I have created a perl package manager repository for windows with Net-SSLeay 1.88, IO-Socket-SSL 2.068 and Mozilla-CA SSL certificates from May 2020. Code: http://ralph.irving.sdf.org/ppm4/MSWin32-x86/5.14/1400/ One issue I ran into updating Net-SSLeay was that if I ran LMS on the system before attempting to install the updated module, SSLeay.DLL file was locked and could not be updated. I had to disable LMS from starting at boot, reboot windows, then install Net-SSLeay 1.88. I noticed 'bpa mentioned possible issues with IO-Socket-SSL 2.068 and OpenSSL 1.1.1e' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109826-BBCiPlayer-V1-6-(and-higher)-amp-BBCiPlayerExtra-2-0-(and-higher)-Support=990450=1#post990450). Perhaps the issue(s) have been fixed with later versions as I've been running Net-SSLeay-1.88, OpenSSL 1.1.1h with IO-Socket-SSL 2.068 with LMS on Linux x86 for the last week without a problem. @Michael, I'd like to suggest that you install all three modules from the repo on the build system, replacing the IO-Socket-SSL and Mozilla-CA zips we exchanged earlier. I created the PPM packages from the same folder structure that I sent you, then we will all be using the same release files going forward. The older package and ppd files from AS are on the website as well in case we need to rollback. I didn't include them in the repo index as I found it confusing for anyone not familiar with the Perl Package Manager. I've only been using the new perl modules for a day now on win10 so it really needs more testers. Anyone running LMS from git on windows can add the repo url in PPM and install the updated modules. To rollback download the .tar.gz and .ppd files and from a command prompt with perl in the PATH run *ppm install oldpackage.ppd* Ralphy *1*-Touch, *5*-Classics, *3*-Booms, *1*-UE Radio 'Squeezebox client builds' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations=LL5P6365KQEXN=CA_name=Squeezebox%20client%20builds_code=USD=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111658 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I can build the latest ssl and I know it works because I use it for squeezelite and Net::SSLeay builds without issue but the tests fail as I've mentioned and the same happens if you install it anyway and try to run LMS. I'll spend some time in the coming days to see if I can figure out the prototype mismatch problem. I could try to reach out to andyg as well, if I still get no joy. I did a quick test to try and build openssl using the AS perl supplied gcc and it's a no go with gcc. Please use an implementation that matches your building platform. This Perl version: 5.14.2 for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread ** I've uploaded 2 zip files with the source and compiled binary files for the modules, so I didn't miss anything as I just did an nmake install of the modules directly into the AS perl site location on the VM. I think you only need what's in the lib and blib folders. I'd suggest we just add the modules to the windows nightly builds as it's pretty simple to revert the changes in git and spin another build if things go wrong. Is it worth investigating whether a current IO::Socket::SSL with dependencies could be built and we just continue to use the 5.14.2 activestate? I still have the VM I used to build the Audio:Scan 1.02 module for windows and could try to build a newer IO::Socket::SSL unless you have already decided to abandon activestate. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] DSD player Plugin
On the Raspberry PI OS system that DSD Player does NOT work, I suspect we likely need to build a dsdplay aarch64 binary (armv8). What does the search path for dsdplay look like in the log with the following enabled? Set os.paths logging to debug and check the save log settings then restart LMS with the dsdplayer plugin enable. Navigate to the DSD Player setting and in the server.log you'll see where the dsdplayer plugin searches for dsdplay. Yes, that would be great! No reason that I can remember. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Problem getting m4a to play (trancoded?) on Transporter
There are 'newer faad binaries available' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/utility/faad/20170831-383f2b0/) which include the CVE updates. Not all of these are built from the latest source, but all commits after the CVE change are cosmetic or specific platform build script updates. Note that squeezelite does not recognize changes to the Output device you choose in MacOS, it sends output to the current default device when it starts, if the -o option is omitted, otherwise sound will always be sent to the device listed in the plist -o option. # Stop squeezelite sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/squeezelite.plist # Start squeezelite sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/squeezelite.plist So, if you remove the 2 lines for -o in the plist, squeezelite will start using the current default output device selected in the os.
