In the case of my 1630 Talking house, I was using my truck's radio. I
can hear something at a mile or so with the engine turned off, but I
have co-channel interference from Maryland DOT TISs and the audio was
difficult to pull out. I have heard talking houses at a range of 3 to 5
miles
I operate an out-of-the-box Part 15 station on 1630 kHz (Talking
House) here at home and with the antenna fully tuned up, I am lucky to
get 1/4 mile at the listed 100 mW.
It seems to me that our little friend on 1710 is at least 5 to 10 watts
(maybe more).

The interesting part is that sometimes you guys sometimes get the
further eastern stuff better than we do here on the East coast, like
Radio Farda 1575. That is because it is going over the pole. I bet there
is more stations like, say Central Asia and Western Asia that you would
get better.

We heard TWR Benin 1566 hear at Long Beach Island, NJ. We had a carrier
most of the time, and audio emerged enough at times to determine the
programing. It was a new country for us.
A more complete report will be made later after we collate everyone's logs.

Actually, two suggestions come to mind for the CRTC. 1. Move CHIN to 1550 and
keep more of the signal in Canada. It is a major pest. 2. Either get CKNX to
move to FM or change its
WTAM 980 has turned off its IBOC. I am not sure how long it has been
off. Today is 11/12. 970 and 980 are now relatively clear in the daytime.
Local channels with IBOC are 600 WCAO, 630 - WMAL, 1010 - WWLB and 1400
- WWIN. All others are off as of this writing.

It is certainly possible, but this will remain a mystery; I went
back over the recording and there was just too much slop and the signal
on 693 was just barely over the noise floor. Whatever it was, it has
faded out. It looks like this is something to chase later.

(as close as I can determine). Who or what is this? There was a weaker
beacon underneath. Can someone help me out here
