Mine was running OK (using

'shared' route gpxs were being truncated when sent by email or attempting
to copy to shareable storage (this was working up and until only a few days
ago). So I tried
It would help me greatly if someone would explain some of these terms to
me. I have searched the web but cannot find a really practical
definition. I can find develeoper guides, but they don't seem to explain
what's actually going on in terms I can understand.

I tried Solid Explorer on /storage/2614-1710/Android/data/net.osmand.plus,
but it doesn't work on my Samsung A41 running Android 11.
adb pull does work to pull files, which is good, but push commands were
rejected as being 'not allowed'. I'll look into shell commands later. I
now have

If you find you cannot get migration to work, and want, or need, to start
afresh, these are the methods I have found to import the data from where it
used to be. These can also be used to do things you may have been doing
with a file manager, or PC USB connection, in the past, that no longer
Hi all,
Many of your responses are going to my spam folder. I don't know why.
Today I even got one from lodrogyamtso, dated Dec 1, but that post seems to
have been deleted from this group. Suffice to say I got it too late to try
his/her recommendations, having started again from scratch,
Hi rjmg
That's exactly what happened to me. Starting again seemed to be my only
option. Luckily I was able to use the methods I suggested above to import
my old data to the new directory I mentioned - tedious, but it worked for
imports. Whether Tom's idea will work I don't yet know.

Thanks Tom - I will try that when I don't need to use it for a few days!

I should have completed the sentence "Routes can be imported from..." to
say they can be "...imported from Downloads via 'Configure map, 'Tracks',
'Add more'...' "

I had to start afresh, which took quite a long time. It's all a bit
obscure. On my Samsung A41 it turns out that it is possible to put the
folder on the SD card in 'External Storage 2'
(/storage/2614-1710/Android/data/net.osmand.plus), so after a lot of
experimentation I selected this as my
My OsmAnd+ updated today. I was using a separate folder on SD card for my
maps, but it seems that doesn't work any more. I tried to migrate but
cannot persuade OsmAnd+ to accept folders on main storage. It mentions

I opened a thread on 12th Feb about 'Background location permission'.
Now when I try to add new comments (saying that I think the problem may
have been fixed) my messages appear briefly, then get deleted.
I have no idea why. Help!

It's possible that lineageos has a different set of permissions. I have
used lineageos on another mobile, and some of the features are different
from standard Android.

After the latest update (3.9.4 on 2021-01-29) I get the following message
on my Android 10 Samsung all the time when tracking where I am going:
"The Background Navigation service requires a location provider to be
turned on."
There is currently no permission option available to the user to
I've sent an email to the osmand people at supp...@osmand.net. You might
want to do the same in the hope of indicating that it's not just me that
has a problem.

During my regular map (etc) updates on 5/8/19 two Contour Lines files seem
to download and install but after doing so they remain 'to be updated'.
They are:

Spain Cantabria (16 June 2019)
I tried removing and reinstalling, with the same result. All my other
I have tried the media re.scan app and it does the job, so thanks very much.
I don't think I need investigate the Wifi and FTP solutions. Plugging it
into my USB hub takes next to no time, and I just tell it to connect and it

Thanks. I'll have to think about the security aspects of this (making it
too easy to access data on my phone when wifi is on) but I can see it would
be a bit simpler.

Ever since Android 4.4, and now on 7.1, when I save a recorded track on my
SD card and try to access it via USB link to my PC it doesn't seem to
exist. I have to restart Android, and then I can read it normally.
I guess this is something to do with the file index for the files on the SD
card
Thanks. It turn s out that the latest version doesn't worm on my system,
but the April 24th version does.
Larger files, such as Germany, can't be processed on my system, not least
because they chew up vast amounts of disk space (60+ GB) at which point my
SSD was full. Ah well, I tried :)

Thanks.
As I understand it I need to convert a pbf to an obf using
OsmAndMapCreator. I found the pbfs - that's fine.
Unfortunately I can't get OsmAndMapCreator.sh to work on ubuntu (having
cloned it from github). I first got "Error: Could not find or load main

I recently tried to find a street in a town in the EU but couldn't do so.
The reason was that many country maps are split into country regions, the
searches require the country region to be selected first, and I don't know
which regions many places are in.
On my return home I was going to
