Hmmm, a capture for every topic plus mathematics questions? good grief that would get on everyones whick! We actually did try a similar antispam system where people would be asked a question, however though the question was only supposed to be asked at registration, it kept popping back up to the point where it was totally irritating.Ill also add that some spammers at least are humans not bots, who have been employed to spread adds around the net and will pretty much just sit there and solve such captures and things all day, one reason why those bloody annoying image only systems with no alternative dont even work and just cause more problems than they stop. Frankly the best way to deal with spam is for human moderators to be regular about giving it the boot! which is what we in fact do, this causes no inconvenience to members at all.

@Defender, thanks for the extensive tips. Speed and sneaking are where my points are going and I have avoided any armor that slows me down. Right now I like to mix and match weapons to see what is good in what situation, though I agree totally about birst shot, this is one reason Im using the mp5 when in very infested areas, and will use the axe in buildings. I like your axe dancing idea, Ill have to try that next time I find a lone zombie, though i do enjoy playng sniper as I said just because it is fun. At the moment Im more interested in having fun with the exploring than with trying to find optimum strategies for grinding at xp. I do plan to try a mission at some point though will probably look at doing one solo as I wouldnt want to let another player down with my lack of experience, and Ill obviously start with the lower level ones. @Gadgetman, firstly it was not me who suggested you were a troll, if you look at my above post
  I stated myself you were just expressing your opinion. That being said I dont personally agree with your opinion at all. On the exe files thing with respect I do wonder how many games youve played. Online games, games on the Iphone, games written in Python or interactive fiction languages, there are plenty of games with no exe files, it just depends how the game has been built. Would you suggest that all games on ios be free because there are no exe files? or that browser games shouldnt offer subscription options? I can see exactly how you would think that the exe file is basically like the game cartridge and that opening it loads the game, however that isnt the case. exe files simply call a lot of other functions and opterations from other files. I think if you had a little more knolidge of programming you would not hold that opinion. Regarding donations, as someone who already bought a swamp 
 account and has put in 8 hours playing, and as someone who played several versions of swamp in the past for free, also i might add as someone who has played a hell of a lot of games of various types, i can say swamp is in my personal opinion worth the money. It would be even if there was no fee required, indeed were I the sort of person to do so I might note to aprone that back in summer of 2011 I donated enough to castaways to provide me with five I have not done this because

hi.ive got an idea, how to turn some computer games into reality.currently i have 1 idea: to turn river raiders into reality.when you in a river, or lake, or swimming pool, or sea, and there are people which went with you together you can do the following:tell them the story of the river raiders, then, someone of the people be the player, some people will be ghosts, and someone can take rubber fish as a monster.take real coins, or at least something which you can imagine that it is a coin for example seashell, and give the player 5 minuts to collect the coins or the seashells, and avoid the people which they are the ghosts and the rubber fish which it is a monster.what do you think about that?a year ago, i had a dream that im in this game, and the monster there is soft and small as a cat.but for the real river raiders game i think better to use rubber fish, or something els rubber.what do you think of this idea?and do you have ideas to turn some games in the computer to real games?kaochek.

HiSo finding a laptop with exactly the things you want for under 1100 was pretty damn hard and so far I only have 1 laptop, but I think youll like it!It has a 256GB SSD, which was the absolute best I could do at this price, 8GB of fast flash based RAM, 4 USB 3 ports, 1 that supports sleep and charge for external devices, a VGA port for older displays, a display port for newer ones, a 720P webcam and dual microphones, a quad core 2.5ghz AMD CPU with a good graphics card that will take some of the load off the slightly underpowered but perfectly adiquit processor, which can also clock up and down as needed, along with the GPU, a DVD reader and writer, a finger print reader that can be turned off and on as needed for security, an aluminum housing thats 13.4 inches wide, 9.3 inches front to back and 1 inch tall when the laptop is closed, with a weight of 4.4 pounds, a 14 inch screen that can go into wide screen mode, a dual band wireless card with the latest version of Bluetooth, a battery that gets 5 to 6 hours while running with wireless on, and 9 to 10 doing nothing or close to nothing with wireless off, a running volume of abetween 34 and 36 DBA when idle, 37.5 to 38.5 when under a medium work load, and 40 to 41.5 when under a heavy work load, 30 DBA is considered to be silent, 40 DBA is considered to be audible, and 50 DBA is considered to be loud. Entombed did exactly the same thing. It was free through its betas and then Jason asked for payment for the full version, and again, no problem. I will also add that were I a particularly greedy or grasping individual, or if I felt swamp had not added significantly to its current version as compared to its free versions, I could! e-mail aprone and remind him of the fact that in 2011 I already donated enough to castaways to have accounts for the next four and a half years. Needless to say Im not going to do this, which should really show what I think of aprones work, that I am willing to donate when it is free, and pay when it is commercial, and of course sinse having been admin of audi

HiI honestly thought the original explaination was pretty obvious, my self.Aprone made swamp, swamp got bigger, people wanted to donate money to him for his work, he said he didnt want money for it, it got even bigger, he got even more requests for a donation button, he gave in, people donated and got their names mentioned on the site, and in the server message of the day, he had enough money to get a slightly better server and keep it running, he then had a huge amount of hacking attempts after having to ban people for being idiots and cheating when warned several times, something he didnt even want to do in the first place, he tryed for ages to keep the hackers out and it messed him up to the point that he thought about pulling the plug because it was stressing him out terribly and people were starting to agree, he tossed around the idea of payment because it had been suggested as an alternative to shutting swamp down by several people, he finally put i
 t into effect to keep hackers out, everything you said was mentioned several times over, plus some, he took it into account, someone bought 5 accounts to give away to people in a random draw because they were awesome, the player base dropped allot which was sad, but less hacking meant more updates, and the price was reasonable for most people, which was the best he could do.The end

Sinse at one stage we had one of the torn developers on this site, who even registered in the forum and talked about the game, I believe contacting the devs might be the way to go on this, sinse unlabeled elements and inaccessible map functions are pretty much a no no for access. If you want to remove the game from the db nocturnus that is fair enough sinse you know what the guidelines say about access, however before that is done I would suggest a, every effort is made to contact the devs, and B, we wait at least a few months to see if changes are implemented to improve matters. That has been the case before, for example in the game loraeon, not to speak of things like the Cor exiles map combat screen.where initially the new layout was utterly inaccessible then the developer put the old interface back as an alternative. So yes, if this doesnt improve Id agree with deleting the game from the db, but Id give people a chance to improve things first, h
 owever dam irritating it might be to have to sit and wait. Id personally suggest having christmas of this year as execution day for Torn city if nothing has changed and if the developers havent responded earlier.

Hay how about a real life swamp? anyone fancy coming round for a bite? :d. I dont think much to this idea camochek, sinse firstly what is the point, secondly while you can certainly dive for coins being grabbed by someone as a ghost would be bad, and thirdly itd be dam confusing underwater to know who was what and could possibly be dangerous depending upon how experienced at diving and swimming underwater people were. The point of computer games is to simulate unreal situations, and they work well for that. In reality for example I do not believe war is the write action in over %90 of circumstances, and certainly would disagree with hole sale slaughter of enemies. In gma tank commander though, well theres nothing more fun than mowing those other tanks down! In smugglers 5 Im currently playing as a pirate, killing mrudering and steeling my way around the galaxy! this even goes for the background stories too sinse Im ch
 oosing all the evil looting piracy options! gar! In a game, this is great fun (actors always say its more fun to play villains than heroes), however obviously in reality certainly not. Thus, personally Im happier computer games stay on computer.

HiIm really sorry about not posting sooner, I dont want you thinking that no one cares about this mod, in fact, its a really great pease of work that has made Techno Shock fun again.I just wanted to play it a bit before commenting, and hadnt found time to do so before a few days ago.I really enjoy it, Im especially a fan of the cut scenes, robots, and ambiance that are available by pressing F9, but the weapons and scope are great too.Really everything is very well done, I especially liked what you did with Kates voice in the final cut scene, as well as the TTSs chosen, and the ambiance and footsteps used as well.I am an amiture foli sound designer, and to be honest, you were one of my biggest inspirations, first with your work on STFC, then on Swamp, and now Im working on short films and audio games do in large part to your modding work, so I thank you for that very much, bec
 ause its very fun, and even more rewarding.Im also a fan of Star Trek, my favorite were Next Generation, of course, and Voyager, which no one seems to understand, I didnt like the original series much, though I did understand it and enjoy parts of it, especially the dialog, I could have done without the classic Enterprise though, I liked some of the sounds in that how ever, and DS9 was cool at points, but I didnt really like or associate with many of the carictors, plus the hole station thing was sorta boring to me, but I did like some of the episodes and background stories. The theme for DS9 was also freaking amazing.

Well even on the fun level,Ive been scuba diving and was even taking some basic qualifications in it when I was a teenager, and I can tell you its quite fun enough on its own without rubber fish as monsters or throwing coins on the bottom, and I doubt staying underwater for 5 minutes would be that much fun without scuba gear . As for other games, well to be honest as I said one thing I personally like in games is doing things I cant! do in reality, like flying spaceships or shooting zombies, so I cant really see how you would make a better recreation of that sort of activity than what games give you anyway.

hi,my opinion would be to keep at least cheets section there as it is. it is mainly because it lists many games, where as on the forum one will have to ask again, or search for a previous post for cheats or even mods, which is itself a pain, at least for a few people if not for everyone.as far as searching is concerned, ive tried to put 2 or 3 words sometimes, but it doesnt matter what the words are, the forum search rejects them even if they can be found in a particular post. if i do not enter the exact words, or enter just one or 2 word, it shows too many posts that are indirectly related to the search term.regards.

When I was at carnivals in Germany where they offer rides, it is even no problem for me to board them alone. Someone boards with me, assisting me to a seat, car or whatever, and here it goes!It even happened that I was the only passenger on a ride, because nobody else wanted to board it at this time. It was no problem and pretty cool, not hearing anybody scream on the ride! However, this thing which holded me in my seat was shaking a bit and I was a bit scary that it suddenly opens, but all in all, it was amazing! The operator tried to animate me over the speakers to act crazy, but I didnt feel like it and just enjoy the ride.

For audacity, you should check out all the menus, because even the commands like record and play are in there and most of the useful commands also have keystrokes. To record, you press r, to stop you press s, and you can play again with the space bar.If you cant edit a file its possibly because you havent selected anything, most programs allow you to place effects on the whole file if nothing is selected but with audacity you will first have to press ctrl+a to select everything.Im not an audio editing expert and I will admit Im still somewhat hazy on a lot of things, such as selecting pieces of the file rather than the entire file but this should at least get you started.

HiDark I think that has to do with the fact that when you have a dog, people see that dog, admire it partly because they see it working and doing things that seem like they are helping, and partly because they dont fully understand how the system works or just assume its an end all solution, its nearly the same way with a blind person that is accompanied by a sighted one, though of course then they can talk to and make eye contact, hand gestures, expressions etc with them.Its probably most recognizable in the fact that most people would talk to that other person before you, or even the dog before you as happens quite a bit, they also get the security of knowing someone else is dealing with it, so they dont have to worry as much about helping you, staying out of your way, wondering if you know where you are, etc.Many of the reasons may be selfish and uninformed, but in the end I think that works out better for both part
 ies, since people that know anything about blindness, canes, guide dogs, even simply how to be a bit suttle will approach you in a better way in almost any situation anyway.

You might be correct on the idea of a dog, however I disagree about appearance with a sighted person aiding in perception or otherwise. most sighted people will indeed interact with the sighted person rather than you, and generally ignore your existance. Eye contact doesnt really make as much difference when actually in conversation with people sinse then you can pickup emotional responses from others and show your own adequately. For example, one performance class I went to the tutor was very keen on the performers making eye contact with the audience, but he fo

The problem is more that eye contact is used to initially form a link with someone and have permission for verbal conversation to begin, indeed this is why lots of casual environments for sighted people such as clubs and certain pubs to interact socially are extremely noisy, sinse the interactions there are all by eye contact. even in less noisey but still social environmentss such as pubs or social gatherings like parties often the permission to begin conversation is eye contact, and when you combine this with the avoidance youve got a recipe for most people to ignore you and its just bloody unfair, and disappointing. The only solution Ive found is to avoid those sorts of situations and try to engage with people only at gatherings of mutual interest or small groups where people are forced
  to interact with you, and after a while of being ignored peoples attitudes will change, however this still requires patience and often wont work, however once your out of school or university its really the only way to interact with anyone and perhaps make friends that is reliable so its a case of keep trying.

You might be correct on the idea of a dog, however I disagree about appearance with a sighted person aiding in perception or otherwise. most sighted people will indeed interact with the sighted person rather than you, and generally ignore your existance. However this is not just a matter of eye contact, sinse it occurs with pretty much any visible disability, just check any accounts of disability literature or ask anyone who is in a wheel chair, on calipers, has a condition that interferes with their movement etc. Indeed its often called the does he take sugar syndrome.This is howevre not because the none disabled person aides communication, it is because the none disabled person provides a buffer, provides someone normal whom people can interact with. I remember for example once sitting in a theatre at a music festival on my own, and an old man talking to me as though I were a five year old and even patting me repeat
 edly on the shoulder like an animal needing soothing, he completely ignored the fact I said was a doctoral researcher and at university and a performer myself, indeed he seemed to be paying no attention to what I said at all. I was just about coming to the end of my reserve of politeness and was about to tell this old git to sod off, when a woman Id met in the hotel that morning at breakfast sat down on the other side of me and said hello The old scumbag, in great relief turned to her and said oh! hes with you Where upon the lady,  who Id perhaps only conversed with for ten minutes replied Actually I only met him for the first time this morning, hes with himself! This is not easy, but its a skill that anyone can learn, and sort of a necessary one for any disabled person.A dog however is different sinse people cant talk to a dog instead of you, maybe its that the dog is recognizable and admirable, and so people respond to that, I dont kno. eye contact is a hole other story. Eye contact doesnt really make as much difference when actually in conversation with people sinse then you can pickup emotional responses from others and show your own adequately. For example, one performance class I went to the tutor was very keen on the performers making eye contact with the audience, but he fo
 und if I was in the right frame of mind and being completely sensative to what others were feeling, I would exhibit the same openness as if I had! made eye contact. The problem is more that eye contact is used to initially form a link with someone and have permission for verbal conversation to begin, indeed this is why lots of casual environments for sighted people such as clubs and certain pubs to interact socially are extremely noisy and prohibit real conversation, sinse the interactions there are all by eye contact and thus intended to be of a superficial level. Even in less noisey but still social environmentss such as quieter bars or social gatherings like parties often the permission to begin conversation is eye contact, and when you combine this with the common avoidance factor I previously mentioned youve got a recipe for most people to ignore you. This is bloody unfare, and dam annoying as well!The only solution Ive found is to avoid those s
 orts of situations and try to engage with people only at gatherings of mutual interest or small groups where people are forced to interact with you, and after a while of being ignored peoples attitudes will change, however this still requires patience and often wont work, however once your out of school or university its really the only way to interact with anyone and perhaps make friends that is reliable so its a case of keep trying or pretty much give up on other people entirely.

 rs in a row arent exactly easy to here and notice.Now, I have another suggestion: multiple obstacle place feature: lets say I want 10 delete rays that uses the same damage amount and time between deletion attempts, and all of them are 5 steps away from each other. With this feature, it would save me much time to place those delete rays, since with a few keystrokes, all the 10 delete rays are placed just how i wanted them to be. This is also useful if you have a corrupt sector 50 squares wide and we want platforms 5 squares away from each other (I.E. at regular intervals). It would save me much trouble and time needed to place all those platforms (yes, i only need to place 10 of them, but imagine if a person wants to make one of the corrupt sectors 100 squares wide? Hell have to place 20 platforms, which is kinda annoying and takes a lot of time). Hope you understand.

Greetings everyone.There have been a few forums posts on Entombed recently, and it made me want to play it again. I got my characters to the 25th floor, and ready to fight the boss.We came in with force so strong that entombed couldnt take it. Or perhaps the game is designed in such a way to make it impssible to win in such a terrible way. Hi. Welcome to the forum and thanks for letting us know about this mud. I have heard of this mud before but wasnt sure exactly on the differences from the usual, particularly as Im a solo exploring and questing sort of person. One thing Id be interested to know is if you have any settings within the mud itself for say reducing the amount of text in combat or making navigation easier. Generally on this site we dont list muds generally, but if muds make allowances within their code fon Vi players using screen readers we well might. I would also personally be quite interested in the game especially what you say about unique quests sinse Im a questing sort of person.I do however have a couple of questions about your screen readers page: First, a question, you mention a soundpack, what format is it? is it standard msp or is tit created to work with a specific client or screen reader, sinse Jaws is by no means the only scr
 een reader people use, (I personally use a program called Supernova). Im also not sure what this thumb screen reader is you mention, sinse the only free screen reader Ive heard of for windows is Nvda.Second, you mention the Vip client as being 30 usd, this is not actually correct. The client is free to download and initially starts in full mode, when full mode runs out you can go on using it as long as you like. The major thing full mode gives you is msp sound support (hence why I asked whether the soundpack you mention is msp or created with a specific client). Ill also add that Vipmud runs with several screen readers or can run with microsoft sapi as a default voice, while addons exist to have mushclient do the same, though unless there is a specific mushclient configuration for the game along with the soundpack such as that for Alteraeon I personally prefer Vipmud sinse I find it much easier to navigate and use ad mu
 ch more responsive. Either way, Id appreciate knowing a little more about your soundpack, and perhaps you would considder altering your support page a little to reflect the fact people use different screen reader programs. Other than that the mud does sound interesting, Id just like to know some more information both about how screen readers are supported specifically, and about how the game works.

Thanks for the reply.Well from the start of the game in the creation process we ask the player if they are a blind player or not. That will set them to config screenreader. Which greatly reduces the spam.Additionally, I have combined the combat code messages so you will see something like.You attack a hill giant 8 times for 1300 damage, instead of 8 lines of you hitting the hill giant.Every area in the game, has quests. I was a everquest addict back in the day and have custom quest journal that displays what quest you have and your progress in the quest.Now the soundpack we offer uses .wav sounds. @kool_turkyes this is the downside to BTSync, and I frankly dont find the concept ground breaking.Before BTSync there was Emule, Edonkey, DirectConnect and FolderShare.All of these except FolderShare supported swarm downloading of files.And with a bittorrent program, you can create a torrent and mail the magnet link to your friends.Syncing is only interesting if every downloader ought to have write access to the folder, something that is not the reason for file sharing.For file sharing, there are several better alternatives.I dont like to expose my IP address and implicitly my location when downloading from strangers over BTSync.So for me there is either BTSync with vpn, or online cloud sharing with my social circle.

Hi,Putting my thoughts out here.I know that a lot of the sounds used in Swamp are from Sound Ideas and possibly other paid libraries. If he does go ahead with swamp being put to the sited market, he would need to have the proper licensing to do so. I could be wrong, but I doubt this is the case. From what I remember, most sounds were passed around from friends of friends of friends. Im no lawyer by any means, but that could get him in a ton of trouble with the way things stand now.All that said, it would be great to see more exposure if it could be done. I would hate to see it not happen because of a lawsuit over sounds though. Especially with all the work going into coding that hes done.

okay, so if youre learning a programming language or trying to solve a problem, youre almost sure to find a posting on Stack Overflow from someone whos had the same problem before. Admittedly thats pretty amazing especially when the documentation on the subject matter in question is... less than user friendly. In fact, I spent many an hour browsing Stack Overflow while I was learning PHP.One thing I couldnt help but notice is the number of questions which get voted down and closed (some for valid reasons, and a great many which are simply mind boggling).I feel that the condescention and outright hate coming from the seniors on that site is almost unbelieveable. For every question you come across that gets justifiably closed, you simply lose count of the ones that are closed because:*five trolls voted to close them (it only takes five member votes),*some supposedly tenured developers who think theyre the only valuable huma
 n beings on the planet think the questions below them, so how dare the lesser mortal put finger to key,*a google search would reveal another site which could answer the question (that ones at least legit, however SO claims to desire to become a sort of one stop shop for programming questions so that kinda defeats the purpose).The worst part is some of the wording thats built in to the canned close reasons. Worst of which being Not a real question. Really? Just because my question is too simple, too complicated, too vaig, too specific etc to you makes it Not real as in Fake?Sure, sometimes things get posted that truly are not real questions like actual requests for precoded solutions but this condescending message is thrown around the site freely and even targets legit and perfectly reasonable questions- questions you wouldnt be afrade to ask your prof.What do people think? To me, this is no different than if you have someone over for dinner and they tell you This is not real food. Sure its real food, all be it not pleasurable as per your own tastes but still its still real human food.I think this is deliberate public humiliation. Even if the question doesnt fit the sites quality standards which are highly subjective to begin with, there are better ways of wording than Not a real question. M4A can be easily enough converted to MP3 if needed. Dark, if you make sure iTunes has the setting to organise its library turned on it should be easy enough to find the media under my music\iTunes.As for DRM, I accept Audibles DRM because of their subscription service which is far more affordable than buying the audio book on CD. They also have audio books which arent easy to get in the UK, are made specifically for Audible, or in some cases are out of production.

Ultimately, if theres a CD version, get that. iTunes Music I can treasure, because its DRM-free, and high-quality enough (256K AAC). Audible books can be backed up, even when the sub expires, but you must contact Audibles servers to get permission to play your stuff when you first install their player or iTunes through authorisation, which means it really doesnt belong to you.@Dark: given a choice, get the CD version. If you can do with less, IMO, buy iTunes Music. There are several Indie albums that I now own through CD or FLAC, but there are others I have chosen to make do with AAC because theyre mainstream enough, EG all of Amateur Transplants stuff where iTunes is an official channel. Finally, when all else fails, or when convenience trumps treasure, get Audible. Different spokes, etc.

I think Captcha itself has its place but if youve signed up for an account on a site, you should only have to do it the first time you post. After that, youre either not a spambot, or youre a spambot who successfully solved the captcha once and can easily do it again so theres no further point in it.It just drives me up the wall to see members vote to close perfectly legitimate questions, which obviously come from noobies but are certainly not Can you write this for me. The fact that those types of questions are the first things that come up on google when you search for the same information says something; that people really do need that information and to come across someone else who asked it and got accused of asking an illegitimate question makes you feel stupid even though you werent the one to ask the question in the first place.

Fedora, especially. You should look at that, if for no other reason that the packaging and policies are much more relaxed than Debian-style distros. I do think in this day and age, its realistic to value ones time, and use a distro that helps you get stuff done by tracking deps.

Hi.Safari on the Mac have got much worse regarding to issues like this in the newest versions. I have always had issues playing Sryth on my Mac, so Ill recommend you to use a virtual windows for this.Then Safari wasnt messed up, the sryth website was splitted up in so many fraims and other stuff so it was nearly impossible to navigate the website.However, sryth is an awesome game, when thinking about the older quests and missions. However, I hear it have become pretty bad now regarding to the newer quests, which is the reason for I dont play it anymore. But the old stuff rules like you would never imagine it, so Ill highly recommend you checking it out.

Great work man. Ill be sure to give this a look, as Ive been meaning to get back into miriani or at least give it a look, as I remember some of the soundpacks for it being great. As I only use mush now, that wasnt really an option before.

Hi.The sounds dont seem to work.I have put them in mush clients directory. I coppied and pasted the sound folder in to there.I have config sound and config music but when I kill something it makes a ding sound that windows uses.Can anyone help with that.Thanks

I think the real advantage of BTSync folders is that unlike other P2P systems there is no real distinction between private and public benefit swarms. People have bandwidth--not as much as they should, but more than before--and can largely afford to transit folder data and keep the swarm alive without investing much more time into it than they normally would to use a cloud storage service. Show me someone who isnt habitually cancelling their unused BitTorrent transfers. Yes, its still not as nice as paying for robust hosting, but its a whole lot better than needing it at all just to keep folders from becoming completely unusable the moment someone gives up on it. This is why well-moderated public BTSync folders have so much potential.
