Orin,I only formatted the Computer once.The funny thing is after I installed MCE for the first time after formatting I got the message saying the demo was expired, which I would understand if I was still running it under the old Windows installation.Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled and that's when I changed the properties on the Wizzard file which allowed Me to be able to configure it but then of course I got the message again...So of course I will not buy the Aerosoft Airbus to be able to use the demo. I would if it was very cheap and if I did not want to fly any other Plane...So I will buy MCE within the next Days and wait until October when FSX Pilot goes Open Source. Instead of telling me that I can only run a program 20 times, do a timed trial. I get full functionality for X number of days. This is a prime example of why it is so stupid to me. What if I can't get something to work. I shut it down to research the problem, open it back up, try the solution, then have to search for another solution. I'm simply wasting my demo on trying to fix an issue. That's not what a demo is for.This is where the Aerobus 320/321 comes in. My thing is, I don't want to have to pay for an aircraft that apparently isn't a default one with FSX to test a program that I may, or may not buy, based on its level of functionality and accessibility. Well, now I'm absolutely p**+ed off!So I formatted the Computer and reinstalled everything again.The problem with MCE persisted and to make it a bit different, when I started it first time after install I got the message asking if I could see the screen, to what I said no. Then I couldn't do anything else because the wizard window kept minimized and the only way it would be visible was by keeping ALT+TAB pressed and of course even with the help of a sighted person clicking the "next" button was not doing anything.So I quit the wizard, go and check the MCE.ini file, change values and when I start it again I get a message saying the demo expired... Expired? I just formatted the computer and installed everything...So I emailed MCE support saying what happened and answering their questions regarding my settings and uninstalled MCE, cleaned everything and reinstalled it again.Of course everything stayed the same until the moment I decid ed to check the properties of xpwiz.exe.So I went to the compatibility tab, checked an option that says "override high DPI settings" or something like that, clicked the combo box next to it and changed it to system and the wizard stayed on the screen allowing Me to configure it.I thought everything was fine until I ran MCE again and got the message saying the demo was expired... So what the hell is going on with this thing? Re: can a blind person play flight gear? Make sure that your speech recognition is actually functioning. If it's not, you might try going through the steps to configure it again, then retest. If it still doesn't work, make sure that you don't havge a deeper Windows issue.Also, FSX, if that's what you're using, is fucking huge, and very resource intensive. I am unsure of the specs of your system, but running FSX along with speech recog might be bogging down your system. I experienced this years ago when I first discovered IYP. Running the simulator, speech recognition, and IYP would completely lock up my pc.Those were all of the things I looked for when I had the issue of getting no response from MCE. Everything on my system is fine, and I have more than enough memory to handle the resource needs. Which brings me back to my original question to any user successfully using MCE. What exactly did you do after getting the program installed an d instructing your simulator to trust it, always running it at startup?What are the steps that need to be taken the very first time that a flight is loaded, after MCE is installed? What prompts are the very first ones to give MCE when your plane is sitting at the runwayimmediately after a flight has been loaded? These answers might point to something that I did wrong, or failed to do, which is causing the issue. JLove,Those were the same things I changed but ver got neither Jaws or NVDA to be able to read the Wizzard and I wonder how You could read it...As for the Sound its kind of strange assuming You configured it properly since You could access the Wizzard.That is something I could not do since I don't know what to type or how to identify My USB Headset on the MCE.ini file.I'm waiting from an Email from the support to see if they can help Me.Also I think someone mentioned an Email for suggestions. I changed the following values within the config file:PilotIsBVI=1 UseNarrator=1Despite making those changes, I was never able to get any feedback from MCE at all. Other commands worked fine with my PC...I could open apps, dictate text, etc. I also tested my speech recognition with IYP, and it worked as pretty as you please. So it wasn't a speech recognition issue. I did the following in FSX:Clicked on "free flight."Loaded a saved flight.Loaded the associated flight plan.Moved aircraft to the departure runway.Clicked "fly now."At which point my aircraft was loaded, but then, no matter what I said to MCE, I was unable to get any response at all. Is there something specific I forgot to do, or is there something specific that I am supposed to say to MCE to make it interact with me correctly? Re: can a blind person play flight gear? The problem that I had with MCE was that I couldn't get it to recognize when I would say something. I set it to start automatically with FSX, and changed the appropriate values within the config.ini file to provide accessibility and to set narrator to be used automatically. Once I loaded my flight plan, and I was sitting on the runway, nothing I said produced any feedback from MCE or FSX. I could tell that MCE was running, because the ATC voices were different, not the ones that are seen in MS ATC, and there was also traffic chatter, something I never saw with MS ATC. So I can't figure out why I couldn't get it to work. My speech recognition was not the problem, since I was able to use it to give commands to my PC, and I also have IYP, and I tested speech recog there, and IYP was able to understand me just fine. Re: can a blind person play flight gear? The problem that I had with MCE was that I couldn't get it to recognize when I would say something. I set it to start automatically with FSX, and changed the appropriate values within the config.ini file to provide accessibility and to set narrator to be used automatically. Once I loaded my flight plan, and I was sitting on the runway, nothing I said produced any feedback from MCE or FSX. I could tell that MCE was running, because the ATC voices were different, not the ones that are seen in MS ATC, and there was also traffic chatter, something I never saw with MS ATC. So I can't figure out why I couldn't get it to work. My speech recognition was not the problem, since I was able to use it to give commands to my PC, and I also have IYP, and I tested speech recog there, and IYP was able to understand me just fine. Emails to Robert have gone unanswered. And, even before that message was put up, Robert only maintained IYP and did not add new features ever since 2014, I suspect when his health problems started..MCE is making slow progress, and their specialty is the complex aircraft made by PMDG, Quality Wings, etc. The issue with those is the FMC. Your definitely not the only one who wants to fly, I personally have loved flying and the idea of it since I could first understand what a plane was. well to get up and running, I had to install fsx, which was quite tricky with steam. I asked a sighted friend to do it in the end but it maybe accessible with a screenreader.It's relatively simple from their if you know what you're doing and you follow the I Y P setup guides which you can find on the website. Within a couple of days I was up and running and of course flying. The guide's are very extensive and very well put together, you should be able to get it setup using them and then there is a lot of info on using I Y P and flying with the sim if your new to it. I'm not sure about MCE and setup though but I would imagine it's not as complicated as I Y P, but of course it can't do everything we need it to do right now. Note if you do buy I Y P, the trial version doesn't ha ve any support for the blind pilots mode, so you wouldn't be able to test it out. Had a good amount of flights where it's crashed or just messed up the approach or something like that. Robert does seem to be quite disinterested, I.E not adding new aircraft or updating the application in any way. right now I think it's possibly the best setup, but if MCE got a bit more BVI friendly it wouldn't be far off at all. I have watched a lot of videos with MCE and I think it could be very usable for us.I would be willing to try MCE in the future as it sounds pretty cool and I definitely want more aircraft to use. I have played Flight Sim 2004 with FS Navigator, which in some ways was more hands on than IYP because you had to adjust your flaps, gear and so on manually though you didn't get a lot of feedback on what they were at.Anyway, I am incredibly hesitant to buy IYP, because of how limited the demo is, especially taking out the blind pilot mode is a bit frustrating so I'm not sure how well I could even test it. Already on that front MCE seems like a much better deal with the demo seemingly offering all features in all aircraft. I have watched a few of Orin's streams with IYP and I also looked up an MCE video up on YouTube and it does look really impressive. So I'm leaning more into investing money into MCE, and possibly FS Passengers which I have fond memories of when I played FS 2004.If we have to do some tasks manually with MCE, like controling the angle or controlling the gear, I don't mind that personally. If anything it adds more to the experience in my opinion. Robert, I don't think, really cares much about IYP anymore, and it feels neglected to me.Second, it's not a matter of we can't use it properly. IYP pretty much babies us and manages things for us automatically so we don't have to learn how it works. For example, when you apply full thrust in MCE, that's exactly what you're doing, applying full power. IYP, when I apply takeoff thrust, doesn't even come close to that.That said, if IYP started to be updated again, I'd support it. Because I'm flying with IYP, I don't know how to stay airborne with MCE. Even after getting airborne and saying select climb power, I still manage to fall. Perhaps this is because I don't know what to set the elevator trim to, another thing IYP sets automatically. You can set the elevator trim by voice, E.G. 5 percent up or down, etc. But we have to set it, unlike IYP.The onl y thing that MCE does for us automatically because they know it'd be hard for us to do it, those that don't have a joystick, is controlling the yoke and pulling it back for takeoff. Once you hit V2 and lift off, it expects you to tell it to set flaps, landing gear, etc. Because IYP slows the aircraft down to an airspeed suitable to bring the landing gear up, puts the flaps up around 2000 FT or so, and does other things behind the scenes automatically like set the elevator trim prier to takeoff, I didn't know how to set these things. Keep in mind that MCE will set these things via voice, but I selected climb power and tried to reduce my airspeed to, oh, 360 knots or so? Unfortunately I got up to about 2800 feet before crashing nose first into the ground, or so it'd seem. Even after attempting to adjust airspeed, it didn't help.Now unfortunately my demo has ran it's course.BTW, we don't have to have MCE auto-land us. If Sandy or whatever her name is, i think it's Sandy, is doing it in Flightgear and she told me she has FSX as well, and doesn't use either IYP or MCE, it can be done. So I'm not sure that this is a joke. However, it might be an other free flight simulator I've heard about, but there is actually something out there which have a command interface and is accessible by using shortcuts. I know a blind geek who are playing it on her Mac and on Linux as well, but it is so complicated so I have given up on getting it up and running.
