[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1610772] Re: [drm] stuck on render ring
Mikhail, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 4.4 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610772 Title: [drm] stuck on render ring Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The problem is similiar to the one discrabed in #1547800 It was happen once in a while. More precisely: it goes into an inconsistent state where pressing numpad 5 inserts the digit 5, but the other numpad keys move the cursor. Pressing the NumLock key turns it off completely (pressing numpad 5 no longer does anything), and pressing once again turns it on. This means that if someone prefers to have the NumLock functionality switched on all the time, they have to press the NumLock key twice after each layout change. I find this a huge usability problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1623585] Re: Toolbar is blank
This is most straightforwardly solved by merging 24.5+1-7 from Debian, which pulls in three fixes: one for for this bug, one for malloc handling with GCC ≥ 5.2, and one for glibc 2.24 support. We certainly want all three. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1624711] [NEW] Quirk for 2-button mouse ASUS K451 touchpad
Public bug reported: Hi, On ASUS K451 laptop, middle click or 3 finger-tap does not work natively. There is no middle button on touchpad, so I am trying to emulate the middle click. I followed these instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Quirks#A2-button_Mice , but it did not work: 1. Create a file named /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/middle-mouse- button.conf with the following contents: Section "InputClass" Identifier "middle button emulation class" MatchIsPointer "on" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on" EndSection 2. If you use GNOME 3 or Unity, an additional step is needed. Execute the following command gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.mouse middle-button-enabled true Otherwise, GNOME 3's settings will override X's. Step 2 returned: key « middle-button-enabled » doesn't exist ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.10.1-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-36.55-generic 4.4.16 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Sep 17 20:21:59 2016 DistUpgraded: 2016-08-28 11:12:55,512 ERROR got error from PostInstallScript ./xorg_fix_proprietary.py (L'exécution du processus fils « ./xorg_fix_proprietary.py » a échoué (Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type)) DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-10 (495 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20150218.1) MachineType: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. This bug also affects my Toshiba Satellite C645 with a Qualcomm Atheros WiFi card and happens even if the connection is lost abruptly, like when there is a power outage and both the modem and the router shut down. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574347 Title: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed Status in NetworkManager: Fix Released Status in OEM Priority Project: Fix Released Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in network-manager source package in Xenial: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] NM needs to re-read the DEVTYPE after the device name changed, an example is that WiFi network list disappears from network manager applet [Testcase] 1. Boot the system. It should include a wireless device. 2. In a terminal, run 'nmcli dev'. 3. In the correct case, the line for the wireless device should read "wifi" under the TYPE column. In a failure case, it will read "ethernet". After upgrading to the new version, the repeating the above steps should give expected behavior. [Regression Potential] Potential of causing regression is relatively small for a one line change to re-read a value to be known. --- Problems:- 1. The network manager applet does not show the list of WiFI APs it can find. 2. The network manager applet does not the name of the AP to which it is connected 3. The icon of the applet shows two vertical arrows in opposite direction - the wired connection symbol and NOT the wifi connected icon. Temporary Workaround:- Log out and again log back in. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1611191] Re: Xorg freeze
Thanks for looking into this issue. I updated bios. I upgraded the bios. It became better. But problem still exists. It does not happen frequently. It can recovery by itself after a couple of minutes I doubt it is related to bios. It became better because I changed the java heap size. It is easy to reproduce when I have chrome running at the same time. gui freezes when the java program starts. After the program starts, the gui response is not fast. The version of Java I am using is jdk1.8.0_102. If I run the same java program on 64 bits windows 7 on the same machine with the same heap size setting, it runs a lot faster. sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date P2.2007/05/2016 On Wednesday, August 31, 2016 11:20 PM, Christopher M. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads
I updated yesterday - with sudo apt dist-upgrade - and since then have been experiencing this issue. I log in normally, the desktop appears (with icons) but nothing else. With right mouse click I can open a terminal, but windows have no borders and no menus. I have tried moving the following with no luck (rebooting where needed): 1. mv ~/.config/dconf/user to user.old 2. sudo dconf reset -f /org/compiz 3. rm ~/.gconf ~/.gconfd ~/.metacity ~/.compiz ~/.compiz-1 ~/.config/compiz-1 ~/.config/dconf -rf 4. mv ~/.config ~/.config.old 5. ccsm & and enabling unity plugin 6. I checked .Xauthority, etc but permissions were fine 7. setsid unity 8. and a few other things found online Couple things to note. 1. The guest user can login with no difficulty and gets a normal desktop 2. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 508522] Re: Mic is not available with A2DP Bluetooth profile
Same applies for Phiaton Chord MS 530. If I do not use A2DP, the mic works. If I set it to A2DP, the mic dies. I had to use the Bluetooth Manager (blueman) because the Bluetooth manager that comes with 16.04 could not handle the bluetooth set correctly. So basically, up to 16.04, A2DP + Mic is yet not possible (Not sure if it's Linux or the actual Bluetooth architecture). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508522 Title: Mic is not available with A2DP Bluetooth profile Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I'm testing a Nokia BH-905i headset (see http://www.wissel.net/blog/d6plinks/SHWL-8AZGGF ) on Ubuntu 10.10. The Bluetooth module correctly identifies the headset and the both audio profiles "HSP/ HFP Telephony duplex" and "A2DP High Fidelity Playback". For music playback only A2DP is suitable (HSP/HFP sounds like listening to music played through an old telephone). A2DP does not have an INPUT mode, so use of the headset for VoiP isn't possible. What would be needed is a separate selection to allow to select A2DP for output and HSP/HFP for input. Smartphones (a lot of them *nix based) phones do that (or they switch on the fly?). Formal structure: 1) Ubuntu 10.10 2) Pulse-Audio 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1 consisting og pluseaudio, pulseaudio-esound-compat, pulseaudio-module-bluetooth, pulseaudio-module-gconf, pulseaudio-module-x11, pulseaudio-utils 3) Select high quality audio output and still use the Bluetooth microphone 4) Had to choose: either high quality audio or "telephone quality" with microphone I can change the profile without the Bluetooth connection dropping, but that's ridiculous. E.g. listening to music, a call comes in. Then I would need to switch the profile before answering. Please note that in Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile it's done automatically. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)
Guys, I have tried to install Joakim's debs in the past but it didn't work for me. I wanted to uninstall/purge the old once I installed and try it one more time from scratch using a new PPA. Since I relatively new to Ubuntu, can you recommend on how to properly do that without compromising the whole OS? sudo apt-get purge "all 7 packages one by one" Is this the preferred way? Since it's apt-get it will remove a lot of dependent packages. Is it safe to do? Will the PPA install them back if required? Can I purge all 7 packages with one command?
