thanks for the reply. the problem in
this solution is that axapta is event driven and we have to run a job to
import the data from the new table (created by external software). But the
requirement is that as soon as the request is entered by Filemaker axapta has
to pick the same. we need the same for some other functions also (to import
/update the records created by file maker). if this has to work then there
should be something which could triger the job (from Filemaker) which could
then run the job of importing the records.
If there are any work arounds in
your knowledge which could help to solve this problem please do let me
know.

before we went live with axapta. some part of the business process
is still done on the earlier application which we intend to
slowly move to axapta. our client is in computer
repair business and the users are still using the old system to
request for Items. we could manage to insert the request directly in
the SQL table and axapta pickedup the records from that table.
1. This application has to run a sequence to update the recId field in
the table (which some times gives duplicates and the request is
lost). is it in some way possible to write some code in SQL table
itself to populate the recId. 2. also is there any
code which could be written on this table (with 3 fields : Item, Qty
requested). At start the first record would have just the
ItemId populated and when the Filmaker updates the record with the
Qty (quantity) field. Now at this stage is it possible that when the
Qty field is updated some code on the sql table would automatically
create a new record with the same Item but Qty field blank so that
the Filemaker would require only to populate the Qty field.
i would appreciate if anyone would let me know if
we can achieve this and how to run the code if we can
achieve. i don't have much knowledge of running the codes on SQL
directly. thanks in advance.

HI, Do you have Axapta tables in the database? If so the Axapta tables should be user tables. If all your tables are system tables you need to change the properties of the table. If the ownership on the tables is wrong you can eigther use the allready mailed solution to fix it. Hi Stefan, you need to clean up the system table SQLDictionary to avoid loosing data when moving objects to a lower ID. You need to create a class that scan the data dictionary in Axapta and match that to the SQLDictionary on name not on id as the standard. You can browse the SQLdictionary using the enterprise manager. A table s identified by the table id and field id = zero. A normal field is identified by the table id and field id, should you have an array (dimensions) you need the array as well to identify the field. You might find the SQLScan classes useful to se how Microsoft maintains the dictionary. You might of course export the data and import them into the new system. Be sure to test it before you start this. Hi Akash, The COM Object ComTable in an object in Word (ActiveDocument.Tables). The COM object in Axapta expects to find a table in your template. If not it throws an error unknown. The template is expected to have the structure given by the template. Hi Herbert We are working on a module to dynamically convert charters upon import or export from Axapta. You need to substitute an Germany ö to #246; and a Ö to #214; in a XML format (Other scenarios are EBCDICT, ASCII etc.). It would have been nice if I could just change the collation sequence on one single row from within Axapta (it works fine if I change the setting on the SQl table, BUT Axapta modifies it right back). I receive a fieldid from a message in method A.
This fieldid is validated by another method B, and there is a switch-case
which tells what the fieldtype is.
Depending on the type of field in method B, 1 of the fields in my

Hi, You could use the COM class wrapper wizard to implement all objects from a COM application in Dynamics Ax. You need to review a couple of objects after wrapping them. The wizard has problems with polymorph objects. The automatic implementation of e.g. the Range and the selection object within Dynamics Ax will allow you to perform COM calls that are not legal from an Excel point of view. If you want to fix that you need to implement the two objects for every excel object (chart, cell, etc.). Hope this helps. Then you need to make a table also from within Ax storing the fields that uses
Enums and the Enum Id it uses. (As I create a view from within AX I did not
need this table). You need to loop over the data dictionary (SysDictionary,
sysDictTable, SysDictField). Here you will find the Property Enum and SQLName,
remember the tableName (DBBackend).
Now You can Join the Enumvalue with this table:

If you need a company based restore you restore your database with a new db name. In the company accounts you can restore one company from an external database. Use cryptoblob2binary and cryptoblob2str from Global.
If you want to protect your data using the WinApi_Server Class
(cryptUnProtectData and cryptProtectData), be aware that the crypt / decrypt
from Windows use a checksum from the machine doing the crypt, you need this
machine to decrypt the data(In addition, the encryption and decryption
usually must be done on the same computer.)

Hi everyone.
In Ax 3.0, I used Textbuffer to encrypt and decrypt. However in Ax 4.0,
this feature is removed, and as far as I can understand, replaced by
CryptoAPI. CryptoAPI is used by class\WebSession. The problem is can't
use it myself.

Hello everyone,
My company is going through an implementation of Dynamics AX 4 and I
have been tasked with writing some reports. It's coming along pretty
well, but I am running into little things that are blocking me.
One question that I have has to do with Ranges in the AOT. When I
create a new range based on a date field, what syntax do I use in the
properties pane when I want to say ExpDate Today + 192?
Also how do I create a range that says = xx1 or xx2 or xx3? In SQL
I can do ProdType in ('XX1', 'XX2', 'XX3').

HI, Have fun. You can not print Vertical and horizontal on the same report within Ax. I solved the problem by writing on a plain text printer, sending the native printer codes to a barcode printer. Not a nice solution, but it worked. The best solution is to look for a barcode printing software or a output management system. HI, you need an .net SFTP component you can add within Dynamics Ax. (Or an API as OCX / DLL / Com+ prior to 4.0). There are several providers for SFTP components. runtime you might want to check if the caller has the method before you
executes it using object. Object cannot validate the existence of the method

Hi, Hope this helps. Generally we prefer using the Biztalk, but it is always an budget issue. a) pros cons of using BizTalk v/s File adapter v/s MSMQ? The BizTalk server is often mistaken for being a batch engine, if you plan to use the Biztalk server like that, save your money and use server executed batch jobs within AX 2009. Biztalk supplies a lot of functions in Process Monitoring and Business rules. The answer is hard to give, without knowing the use case. (b) Are all of them able to handle fail over scenarios? We need to ensure no XML should be missed. The functionality is basically the same and enforced my AIF. With Biztalk the technical failures are passed back to Biztalk and not thrown within AX. All Logical errors are kept in the exception log within AX, That is also the place where you need to fix it. (c) There should be a mechanism for acknowledgement timer for example, if acknowledgement is not received from external systems in 60 minutes, alert. (email) should be thrown. You should implement this using long running transactions within Biztalk. (d) Performance benchmark. Check the homepage from Microsoft. If performance is an issue, you should select Biztalk, this would move part of the Interface execution to another infrastructure. Hi, I only know the Return Order Acknowledgement Document within Dynamics AX 2009. I guess that is not what you are looking for, as Dynamics AX 2009 sends this. The process you describe we never solve within Dynamics AX, we prefer using the Biztalk server for that. The process monitoring within Dynamics AX is not that good. If an document is not delivered, you need to do a lot of coding to create a workflow that can be operated by an super user. Defining a long running transaction within Biztalk, will give you an easy access to integration process monitoring and a high flexibility in designing what should happen. You are absolutely right, that the Message ID in Unique. It is stored in the table AIFCorralation, the document is stored in AIFMessageLog. Hi, the short answer is no. The .net connector from ax does not support forms or reports. You would have to start the ax client to open the form. You need to modify ax to launch a form during startup. Or you can consider building a .net form and utilize the application integration framework to interact with ax. Hi James, We are solving that problem for a customer at the moment. You could check if the batch user is logged on to the SQL server, only that will not give you the answer you are looking for. The user can be logged on, and the batch process has crashed, or the user is not logged on, but the batch process is running - but Idle. We decided to introduce a heartbeat to the batch process. After execution on the batch process we write a XML file with an execution log. The heartbeat is monitored a BizTalk server starting a workflow if the batch process has not been executed the last 10 minutes. Hi, why do you want to do that? The table ID is used internally in Dynamics AX to link objects in the development environment. It is also used to synchronize the data dictionary from Dynamics AX on the SQL Server. If you change the ID a table synchronizing the database will give you problems. If you are running out of ID's for your application you should setup the Dynamics AX Team Server. Using the team server and vss you can assign more ID's to the USR Layer. You can only change the ID by exporting the table, deleting the table and importing it again. Be aware that deploying this application to your next stage will lead to data being deleted.
