[Bug 58962] New: Wrong french translation of remoteip doc
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=58962 Bug ID: 58962 Summary: Wrong french translation of remoteip doc Product: Apache httpd-2 Version: 2.4.18 Hardware: PC OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: Documentation Assignee: docs@httpd.apache.org Reporter: a...@launay.org Hello, The beginning of the translation of the mod_remoteip doc in french: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/fr/mod/mod_remoteip.html (same in trunk) http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/mod/mod_remoteip.html reads like: "elle est aussi affichée par mod_status, et enregistrée via les directives %a et %h du module mod_log_config." Which is wrong, the sentence in english is: "and is recorded by mod_log_config %a and core %a format strings. The underlying client IP of the connection is available in the %{c}a format string." The %h directive is very much misleading, as it gives the proxy client IP, and NOT the real client. With /no/ mention at all of the %h, which has no meaning in remoteip. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: docs-unsubscr...@httpd.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: docs-h...@httpd.apache.org

Mapping URLs to the Filesystem : french translation
Here's a french translation of Mapping URLs to the Filesystem. I don't exactly know how to submit it (in what format it should be), I let it in html.

Vincent Deffontaines (in 2004), Alain B and myself (in 2005) devoted quite a lot of energy translating Apache doc into French. And it has never been committed. It all ended up in acid discussions with the committers and basically all this energy was spent in vain. Francois, I'm sure that wont happen again, if there is something that needs to be discussed it is better done on the list for the benefit of everyone. Why dont you go to http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/Translations/French and add a page in there, that is the direct French translation of a current docs page. You will need to sign up and create a wiki userid. Once you have done this, you can easily contribute your translations. Once they have then been verified by a second native speaker of that language you can submit it to this list (for now at least). As noodl (Vincent) says someone is working on creating an XLST file so people can contribute to the wiki, without having to re-work it so it meets the current XML standards that the docs build process currently uses. Once the required steps have been taken, and all the necessary criteria have been met, I cannot see why the docs (if submitted now) would not be committed. I hope this is ok, and look forward to seeing many French translations coming this way. -- Tony - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Greetings, I am quite happy to see good wills are emerging again to translate docs into french. As far as I can tell, the previous waste of energies we had on this project were due to lack of organisation/concertation. Hopefully we can try to get things up and working this time. So that, rather than people asking and nothing going on, we get a growing community of .fr translators. errors in french translation (typo and gramatical) patch included
I noticed few errors in french translation of the httpd-2.x/docs/error/*.html.var files. The majority is typographical error (in french the ! need to be prefixed with a space and appended with a space too). I corrected a missing accentuated character too. Actualy, i don't understand why there are versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 (alpha) on the home page http://httpd.apache.org/. No. We moved to subversion some time ago and now the cvs repository is only for (historical) reference. We have three maintained httpd versions (1.3, 2.0, 2.1) and so we have 3 docs versions. 2.1 is the version, where the development happens, and some day it will be 2.2 and stable (and splitted from the main trunk, which will become 2.3 then). 2.0 and 1.3 are more or less (feature) freezed. Regarding the docs translations, most people prefer to translate 2.1 and 2.0, probably because it's more easy (XML) and consistent and 2.x will be used more and more. Anyway, if you never worked with subversion, I suggest to start here: http://www.apache.org/dev/version-control.html#anon-svn and have a glance over the svn book (http://svnbook.red-bean.com/). Of course, if you don't know further, just ask here ;) The docs are located here: * 2.1: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/trunk/docs/ * 2.0: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/2.0.x/docs/ * 1.3: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x/htdocs/manual/ Well, I also recommend the transformation page: http://httpd.apache.org/docs-project/docsformat.html. Ihave few newbie questions: 1- The documentation is supposed to be for 2.1 (or I would say 2.x in general), that is what is coming out of fr.xml but most of the titles are for 2.0: should that be changed for 2.x and making special notes when it applies only to 2.1? It is the same for other languages as I can see. 2- Revision,. should I put a number there or it would be updated by cvs when checking in? 3- Copyright 2004: (only) Is that correct? 4- Indentation is of 2 or 4 characters depending on the source file. Does it matter, or should it be always 4 like for C source files? Thanks to Vincent Deffontaines for the submitted files. No. Could you have him just send an email to the list confirming that he is reviewing the docs. Andre can moderate it through even if he isn't subscribed. manual/bind.xml french translation
Here is a translation into french for manual/bind.xml (starting alphabetically seems to be a good way to forget nothing ;-) ) For some reason I am unable to open xml files under mozilla (1.3.1) or galeon (1.3.5). It gets mozilla engine to freeze (bug report in progress). Maybe someone has a clue about this? By the way validator.w3.org does not like it when content type is application/octet-stream ; does anyone know about another online validator that would deal with it? By the way, I have not found tools to convert xml stuff to html. Looks like the build subdir is not included in the snapshot. So I'll let someone of this list convert it, or explain me how to proceed if there is somethign I didn't catch :-) Vincent -- Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. By the way validator.w3.org does not like it when content type is application/octet-stream ; does anyone know about another online validator that would deal with it? Ah, hmm. You don't need an online tool, the offline tools are also able to validate the stuff ;-) Anyway mozilla isn't able to show XML files directly if they require external definitions (like character entities). By the way, I have not found tools to convert xml stuff to html. Looks like the build subdir is not included in the snapshot. So I'll let someone of this list convert it, or explain me how to proceed if there is somethign I didn't catch :-) The tools are stored in the cvs repository in the site-tools module in the httpd-docs-build directory. The tools are mainly written in java (so you need a java runtime installed) and some less important ones in perl (for things like metafiles etc). I've zipped the current build tools online, so you can download them: http://cvs.apache.org/~nd/build.zip (about 5MB) (the *.bat files already contain windows line endings). Note that they are modified from time to time so you should try to talk to your admin that he opens pserver for you or something :-) If you want (and are able) to check it out via CVS, just change into the manual directory and type: cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/cvspublic co -d build site-tools/httpd-docs-build The zip contains the build directory and just needs to be unpacked within the manual directory. Once you got it, just cd into the build directory and type (on *x): ./build.sh -projecthelp (on Win32): build -projecthelp If it works, you'll get a short description and a list of available build targets. your target will be 'fr' (surprise), but isn't available yet (will be incorporated soon). So, for building the fr html files, just type: build fr (or ./build.sh, depending on your system). If you have perl installed, you should run a build metafiles before, otherwise you'll need to modify the metafiles (*.xml.meta) manually. Other interesting targets include 'validate-xml' (for source files) and validate-xhtml (for resulting html files). I've probably forgotten something, don't hesitate to ask if there are open questions. Good Luck! nd - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
