[Bug 58962] New: Wrong french translation of remoteip doc

2016-02-02 Thread bugzilla
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=58962

Bug ID: 58962
Summary: Wrong french translation of remoteip doc
   Product: Apache httpd-2
   Version: 2.4.18
  Hardware: PC
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: P2
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: docs@httpd.apache.org
  Reporter: a...@launay.org

Hello,

The beginning of the translation of the mod_remoteip doc in french:

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/fr/mod/mod_remoteip.html
(same in trunk)
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/mod/mod_remoteip.html

reads like:
"elle est aussi affichée par mod_status, et enregistrée via les directives %a
et %h du module mod_log_config."

Which is wrong, the sentence in english is:

"and is recorded by mod_log_config %a and core %a format strings. The
underlying client IP of the connection is available in the %{c}a format
string."

The %h directive is very much misleading, as it gives the proxy client IP, and
NOT the real client. It should read something like

"et est enregistrée par les chaînes de formatage %a de core et %a de
mod_log_config. L'IP de connection du client sous-jacent est disponible dans la
chaîne de formatage %{c}a".

With /no/ mention at all of the %h, which has no meaning in remoteip.

 The MPM page contains:

The server ships with a selection of Multi-Processing Modules (MPMs) which are
responsible for binding to network ports on the machine, accepting requests,
and dispatching children to handle the requests.

 The French translation is:

Certains Modules Multi-Processus (MPMs) sont responsables de l'association aux
ports réseau de la machine, acceptent les requêtes, et se chargent de répartir
ces dernières entre les différents processus enfants.

The formulation suggests that some MPMs are not responsible for binding to
network ports, etc. A translation of the French version would be:

Some Multi-Processing Modules (MPMs) are responsible for binding to network
ports on the machine, accepting requests, and dispatching children to handle
 the requests.

 A correct translation would be:

Le serveur contient une variété de Modules Multi-Processus (MPMs) qui sont

requêtes, et se chargent de répartir ces dernières entre les différents

You are right.

Update is coming soon.

Mapping URLs to the Filesystem : french translation

2008-05-15 Thread Ivan Couvreur

Here's a french translation of Mapping URLs to the Filesystem.
I don't exactly know how to submit it (in what format it should be), I let it

DocumentRoot

l'URL http://www.example.com/docs/dir/file.html sera servi depuis

http://www.example.com/~user/file.html

OK I'll be the bad boy, launch yet another flame war and piss off some
people in this list...

I suggest you have a look far enough in the archives.
Vincent Deffontaines (in 2004), Alain B and myself (in 2005) devoted
quite a lot of energy translating Apache doc into French. And it has
never been committed. It all ended up in acid discussions with the
committers and basically all this energy was spent in vain.
So you'd better make sure the context has changed before you devote any
time or energy to the French translation project.

Francois,

I'm sure that wont happen again, if there is something that needs to be
discussed it is better done on the list for the benefit of everyone.
Why dont you go to http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/Translations/French
and add a page in there, that is the direct French translation of a
current docs page.

You will need to sign up and create a wiki userid. Once you have done
this, you can easily contribute your translations. Once they have then
been verified by a second native speaker of that language you can submit
it to this list (for now at least).

As noodl (Vincent) says someone is working on creating an XLST file so
people can contribute to the wiki, without having to re-work it so it
meets the current XML standards that the docs build process currently uses.

Once the required steps have been taken, and all the necessary criteria
have been met, I cannot see why the docs (if submitted now) would not be
committed.

I hope this is ok, and look forward to seeing many French translations
coming this way.

Yes, that's the idea.

Also it should lower the barrier of entry for people to contribute to

Greetings,

I am quite happy to see good wills are emerging again to translate docs
into french.
As far as I can tell, the previous waste of energies we had on this
project were due to lack of organisation/concertation. Hopefully we can
try to get things up and working this time. So that, rather than people
asking and nothing going on, we get a growing community of .fr translators.

Cheers,

Hi, Philippe,

Maybe we could coordinate en français :-))

I just began yesterday to prepare my translate environment,
with subversion installation, download english doc, and shall
go one next days, testing translation process.

As I saw yet, work consists of XML files translation, though
I didn't understand where was separation between different
versions (1.3, 2.0 and 2.2) of the doc.

So I begin this work next days, and I then return to you.

PS: some pages were however tranlated in french; could
someone tell us who made this job ?
Is he/she still contributing ?

See the docs-project page:

Is he/she still contributing ?

See the docs-project page:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs-project/

not found any info about french translation in this page,
except error messages

including the guidelines on translating the docs, here:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs-project/translations.html

Essentially translations must be reviewed by another native speaker,
so having the two of you should work out well. I don't know if the
previous French translator(s) are still active. Another regular on
this list is preparing an xslt stylesheet which I think transforms the
xml for mat of the docs to a format suitable for the wiki here:

http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/Translations

I believe the idea is to use the wiki for collaborative translation
before submitting pages to be committed.

Thanks for info

Hi Rémi,

Welcome in french translators staff :-))

We are still organizing this project, and
after two days there's already 1 reviewer and you are the
3rd translator. Nice, isn't it ?

Could we reach 1 translator per section ? ;-)

So I come back soon to you to discuss how to share the work

errors in french translation (typo and gramatical) patch included

2006-05-12 Thread Raphaël Gertz
I noticed few errors in french translation of the
httpd-2.x/docs/error/*.html.var files.

The majority is typographical error (in french the ! need to be prefixed with
a space and appended with a space too).

I corrected a missing accentuated character too.

And added a 'e' letter at end of Longueur du contenu illeacute;gale
(it's because Longueur is a feminin word and the adjective need to be
accorded)

If someone with rights may merge it in cvs for 2.0 and 2.2 release it whould
be great.

This is an old bug that I didn't have time to report upstream.

  titleProblèmes DNS avec Apache/title

  summary
pL'ensemble de cette page pourrait se résumer à la phrasenbsp;: ne
jamais configurer Apache de telle sorte qu'il s'appuie sur des
résolutions DNS pour parcourir ses fichiers de configuration.
Une telle configuration risque d'engendrer des problèmes de
fiabilité (le serveur peut ne pas démarrer), des attaques de type
déni et de vol de service (comme par exemple des utilisateurs volant
les hits d'autres utilisateurs)./p
  /summary

  section id=example
titleUn exemple simple/title

example
  lt;VirtualHost www.abc.domgt; br /
  ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] br /
  DocumentRoot /www/abc br /
  lt;/VirtualHostgt;
/example

example
  lt;VirtualHost 10.0.0.1gt; br /
  ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] br /
  DocumentRoot /www/abc br /
  lt;/VirtualHostgt;
/example

example
  lt;VirtualHost 10.0.0.1gt; br /
  ServerName www.abc.dom br /
  ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] br /
  DocumentRoot /www/abc br /
  lt;/VirtualHostgt;
/example
  /section

  section id=denial

configuration suivantenbsp;:/p

example
  lt;VirtualHost www.abc.domgt; br /
  nbsp;nbsp;ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] br /
  nbsp;nbsp;DocumentRoot /www/abc br /
  lt;/VirtualHostgt; br /
  br /
  lt;VirtualHost www.def.domgt; br /
  nbsp;nbsp;ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] br /
  nbsp;nbsp;DocumentRoot /www/def br /
  lt;/VirtualHostgt

I'n not certain about the reason, but we have been replacing 'Apache server'

Yes, that's the basic principle. Regarding the xml files: it modifies the

Ah sorry, what I said is ambiguous and I'm sorry if some of you
misunderstood.
What I meant is that Apache is (of course) an excellent product and it's
a shame that for various reasons no French translation has gone through
the whole process and has been published yet. I hope this will change in
the future and of course I'm ready to help make this happen !

Well, I also recommend the transformation page:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-project/docsformat.html. It describes how to
work with our docs build system (2.1 and 2.0). Basically you need the build
tools, java and perl.

Further note, that the build tools try to check if a translation is
outdated. To make this possible, you need to add a comment to your
translation, where you note, what subversion revision your translation is
based on. All translations have such a comment on the top (!-- English
Revision: -- or !-- English Revision : (outdated) --), so
just have a look at, say manual/bind.xml.de :) These comments are useful
for you (the translator), because you can just go into the directory and
diff the English version, to see what was changed, like:

svn diff -r : englishfile.xml
Don't worry, once set up correctly, it should be quite easy to work with.

You're welcome :-)

André, can you confirm to me the working folder can be found here :

understand why there are versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 (alpha) on the home

No. We moved to subversion some time ago and now the cvs repository is only
for (historical) reference. We have three maintained httpd versions (1.3,
2.0, 2.1) and so we have 3 docs versions.

2.1 is the version, where the development happens, and some day it will be
2.2 and stable (and splitted from the main trunk, which will become 2.3
then). 2.0 and 1.3 are more or less (feature) freezed. Regarding the docs
translations, most people prefer to translate 2.1 and 2.0, probably because
it's more easy (XML) and consistent and 2.x will be used more and more.

Anyway, if you never worked with subversion, I suggest to start here:
http://www.apache.org/dev/version-control.html#anon-svn and have a glance
over the svn book (http://svnbook.red-bean.com/). Of course, if you don't
know further, just ask here ;)

The docs are located here:

 * 2.1: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/trunk/docs/
 * 2.0: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/2.0.x/docs/
 * 1.3:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x/htdocs/manual/

Bonjour,
Je suis nouveau sur ce forum et je viens juste de découvrir que des
fichiers avaient déjà été traduits mais ne semblent pas être en ligne
sur la section documentaire. Je cherche une raison à cela :)

Je suis également prêt à aider l'équipe française...

French Translation: Please review formatting

2004-05-07 Thread Jean-Jacques Clar

Attached:

- bootstrap style files: fr.xml and lang-targets.xml

- 3 translated files: new_features, index, and bind

If someone could let me know if things are starting on the right path,

I would be grateful.
I finally used ISO-8859-1, with special characters replacement using decimal
corresponding numbers. Thanks to [EMAIL PROTECTED]for astarting script.

Ihave few newbie questions:

1- The documentation is supposed to be for 2.1 (or I would say 2.x in general),

that is what is coming out of fr.xml but most of the titles are for 2.0: should

that be changed for 2.x and making special notes when it applies only to 2.1?

It is the same for other languages as I can see.

2- Revision,. should I put a number there or it would be updated by cvs when

checking in?

3- Copyright 2004: (only) Is that correct?
4- Indentation is of 2 or 4 characters depending on the source file. Does it matter,
or should it be always 4 like for C source files?

Thanks to Vincent Deffontaines for the submitted files. I will try to review
more in the next few days

I started using UTF-8 (which is cool because I could type directly special

 Thanks,

I have built a dirty shell script I run on XML files.
This way, I type in the text with accents into the XML file,
then have them converted to valid 8859-1 using the script.

Script is attached, and script is pretty ugly, but works for me :-).

Just in case it helps..

The source encoding (xml) is mostly your decision. It just should be
consistent through the whole stuff. At least as target charset (for html) I'm
suggesting iso-8859-1 or -15 (with a tendence to -1, because it may be better
supported by clients), because it's simply smaller than utf-8. The
recoding is done by the transformation process, so that's not a problem.

An argument could be to use iso-8859-1 in source as well to keep source and
target consistent.

Thanks for the relevant information.
Sorry, I did not waited and now have 3 files updated using UTF-8.

For checking-in translated files; what do you suggest?
I am tempted to start checking in as I go but will it be better
to wait until I have at least something like ten files ready?
Thanks for the help.

I don't think there're any ongoing activities on French

So it's almost 3 years old. Probably you need to start your

manual/bind.xml french translation

2003-07-02 Thread Vincent Deffontaines
Here is a translation into french for manual/bind.xml (starting
alphabetically seems to be a good way to forget nothing ;-) )

For some reason I am unable to open xml files under mozilla (1.3.1) or
galeon (1.3.5). It gets mozilla engine to freeze (bug report in progress).
Maybe someone has a clue about this? By the way validator.w3.org does not
like it when content type is application/octet-stream ; does anyone know
about another online validator that would deal with it?

By the way, I have not found tools to convert xml stuff to html. Looks
like the build subdir is not included in the snapshot. So I'll let someone
of this list convert it, or explain me how to proceed if there is
somethign I didn't catch :-)

Ah, hmm. You don't need an online tool, the offline tools are also able to
validate the stuff ;-)
Anyway mozilla isn't able to show XML files directly if they require
external definitions (like character entities).

By the way, I have not found tools to convert xml stuff to html. Looks
like the build subdir is not included in the snapshot. So I'll let someone
of this list convert it, or explain me how to proceed if there is
 somethign I didn't catch :-)

The tools are stored in the cvs repository in the site-tools module in the
httpd-docs-build directory. The tools are mainly written in java (so you
need a java runtime installed) and some less important ones in perl (for
things like metafiles etc).
I've zipped the current build tools online, so you can download them:
http://cvs.apache.org/~nd/build.zip (about 5MB) (the *.bat files already
contain windows line endings).
Note that they are modified from time to time so you should try to talk to
your admin that he opens pserver for you or something :-) If you want (and
are able) to check it out via CVS, just change into the manual directory
and type:

cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/cvspublic co -d build
site-tools/httpd-docs-build

The zip contains the build directory and just needs to be unpacked within
the manual directory.

Once you got it, just cd into the build directory and type
(on *x):
./build.sh -projecthelp

(on Win32):
build -projecthelp

If it works, you'll get a short description and a list of available build
targets. your target will be 'fr' (surprise), but isn't available yet
(will be incorporated soon). So, for building the fr html files, just type:

build fr

(or ./build.sh, depending on your system).

If you have perl installed, you should run a

build metafiles

before, otherwise you'll need to modify the metafiles (*.xml.meta)
manually.
Other interesting targets include 'validate-xml' (for source files) and
validate-xhtml (for resulting html files).

I've probably forgotten something, don't hesitate to ask if there are open
questions. Good Luck!
