Tom, I never wrote what Judy claims is a quote above.

For the record, Barry did indeed write what I claimed;
but I didn't claim it was a quote (it was a close
paraphrase, without quote marks), so Barry crammed two
deliberate misrepresentations into one sentence.

snip
Judy knows most of this, and has been vocal on FFL in condemning
Tom Pall for his racist remarks and his unconscionable attacks
against the newsgroup itself and individuals on it.

And yet another deliberate misrepresentation from
Barry. As he knows, I stayed almost completely out
of that flap.

 The only reason she's seeming
to side with him now is that it's a rare opportunity for her to
 attack me.

And a third misrepresentation. I wasn't siding with
Tom in any way but rather pointing out Barry's
hypocrisy (hardly a rare opportunity, so that's a
*fourth* misrepresentation).

You got your question all backwards, Vaj: it's you
that's bringing the dredged muck work from here, over

the posting of pernicious rumors and
small-town gossip like you enjoy indulging in.

This used to be a nice family forum to visit and
learn a thing or two from local residents about how
to raise sane children, but ever since the a.m.t.
'gang of four' came over and tried to take over the
FL forum, it now sucks, big time.

From what I've read, niether you nor any of the other
current informers have ever been within a thousand miles
of a Maharishi Golden dome, much less ever planning a
visit to Fairfield, Iowa!

Hasn't this already suffered enough from the
 alt.meditation.transcendental diaspora?

It wasn't my idea to bring the 'gang' over here -
they did that all on their own. Some people just
feel better when they have someone to talk to, I
guess. Why you persist in stalking me over here
to Yahoo! Fairfield Life is beyond me. Whose
newsgroup is this anyway?

If you don't like it, you could unsubscribe
yourself from a.m.t. and Yahoo! FL and keep your pie

there and trying to start a forum riot.

WeeWillyWanker,

As you know, I have taken you to task in the past.
However, none of the following Subject lines were
created by me, and if you'll check you'll probably
find that I didn't even participate in the threads.
This is primarily a John and Judy and Perino thang.

The way you can tell the difference is that when
I lit into your ass I was usually funny, suggesting
that you said the things you did because you were
over-tired from having sex with underage badgers. :-)

Dear Sir, he says, please send me two mongooses.

That doesn't sound right. He tries again:

That can't be it. He scratches his head.

One more try:

Even then, Hanna and Barbera were showing their penchant for borrowing
concepts and situations from other series, including their own. The Pixie
Dixie series was a close copy of Tom Jerry, which had been a big success
for them back when they were directors at MGM. It differed from the earlier
one mainly in featuring two mice of equal stature (whereas Jerry Mouse's
partner, called Tuffy in comic books and Little Nibbles in some cartoons,
was a late addition and appeared only sporadically). The cat, whose
catch-phrase (I hate those meeses to pieces) was heard in practically
every episode, was named Mr. Jinks.

Of course, deliberately *publicly* laughing at
someone and pretending to take them seriously
are not the only two alternatives. You may not
be able to keep yourself from laughing, but you
don't have to tell them, and everybody else, that
you're doing so; nor do you have to say anything
to or about them.

As Lawson suggests, you *want* to make people you
don't like feel bad. To have that desire and act
on it is one thing; to pretend it's not the case
is quite another. It's dishonest and hypocritical.

Ostrich is delicious! It's deep red like beef, and I think it even
tastes a bit like beef. However, it has almost no fat in it, so if it
is overcooked, you may as well re-sole your shoes with it. Cook it
rare to medium-rare, and it's just fine.

Judy bought a slice of a cow so that it could be sacrificed on
behalf of her sister.

I think it was a shank or a Porterhouse.

What I want to know is:

1) do they get to eat the meat afterwards or does it just go to
waste;

2) who pays for the carting (no one is able to answer that question
here to my satisfaction); and

3) A new question...is this meat flash-freezable? In other words,
like the Omaha Steaks you get at Christmas time...but here you can
have one-stop shopping: get your yagyas performed for you and your
sister and get all your gifts/meals flash-frozen for holiday giving.

not only donate the animals, but come in to the village and educate

In case you don't know, There was a string of brutal rapes in india, which included the high profile case of a Swiss diplomat raped in Delhi, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3193820.stm President's elite body guards raping a university student, a cop raping a teenage girl, etc etc. Therefore India'simage hastaken a severe
beating. I noticed some people having illusions about India which is whyi posted the news item. JimFlanegin thinks it's shit not worth reading. Jim Flanegin thinks it's shit not worth reading. Not taking
note of reality might put you in fool's paradise.

I think that what Jim was expressing was his feeling
that there might be more productive things in life to
focus on -- and thus become -- than just another
incident of violence in a violent world.

In meditation one has a choice -- whether to focus on
the object of meditation (or, in a TM context, whether
to effortlessly come back to the mantra), or whether
to remain lost in the thoughts and sensations that
have arisen. That choice -- and what we do with it --
is what makes us human and gives us the ability to
realize our enlightenment.

Outside of meditation, we have the same choice. We
could choose to focus on the dark stuff, like so many
around us. But if you really *look* at the lives of
so many around us and what they have become as a
result of their focus on the dark stuff, is that what
*you* want to become? If so, focus on the dark stuff.

If not, there is another possibility. You can be
aware of the dark stuff, and when it is possible do
whatever you can to eliminate it by exposing it to
light. But then the rest of the time, you can focus
on something that is a tad more uplifting. Focus on
laughter in a world of tears and it's the laughter
you become, not the sadness. Focus on light in the
midst of darkness, and you become light.

'Nuff said. You're a smart kid...you'll figure it out.

Yeah, except that the focus here is your hypocrisy
in instructing Jason on the importance to one's
spiritual development of always focusing on what is
productive and uplifting, as if that were what you
believed and how you behaved.

Obviously you'd like to try to obscure that focus,
but unfortunately the only way you know to accomplish
it is by shifting the focus to what you call the
dark stuff of the person pointing out the hypocrisy--
which is what you just told Jason is to be avoided,
compounding the original hypocrisy.

I'm just exposing your dark stuff to the light,
you see. And I suggest that operating in the Now
is not a sign of your great spiritual development
but rather a means of avoiding accountability for
your behavior.

With that kind of focus, what do you think they
 will become?

 :-) :-) :-)

If we were to go over your posts here (not to mention
on alt.m.t), what percentage do you think we would
find focusing on dark stuff as opposed to what is
productive and uplifting?

Now, THIS information I find of interest.

Please, somebody educate me: Are sacrifices of animals -- live or
otherwise -- perscribed to be included in yagyas in the Vedas?

Actually, not only are live animal sacrifices
prescribed in the Vedas, they are still common
in modern-day India. As it turned out, this
service (the Heifer Foundation) seems to be
completely benevolent, and has nothing whatsoever
to do with them. I was merely curious as to
whether it did. Vaj set me straight; it's an
organization that arranges gifts of live animals
to help people living in poverty become self
sufficient. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Judy's just smarting from the devastating effects
of being laughed at, and is feeling attacked
again, that's all. And as usual when she feels
she has been attacked, she's trying to stink
up the place. Who knew that laughter could have

The question that occurs to me is, What would
happen if you sacrificed a skunk to the Vedic
gods?

Would they feel pleased at the sacrifice and
thus propiated? Or might they find the whole
scene hilarious and -- Vishnu help us -- *laugh*
at it? And if they *did* laugh, should the
organizers of the skunk yagya feel attacked?

My head hurts from pondering all this heavy
Vedic stuff. I'm going to watch Battlestar
Galactica...

In case you don't know, a tenet of many if not all
spiritual traditions is, What you focus on you become.

Is that why, when someone on alt.m.t touted the Heifer
Foundation, the first thing that occurred to you was
whether, under the guise of giving farm animals to poor
people, it was actually supplying the animals for live
yagya sacrifices (citing Koreans in L.A. who used to
rescue puppies from the pound and then eat them for
   dinner)?

As I recall, you went on to point out that providing
live animals for sacrifice was a thriving business
in India, contrary to the image of a beloved and
idealized India you claimed was held by TB TMers.

Now, THIS information I find of interest.

Please, somebody educate me: Are sacrifices of animals -- live or
otherwise -- perscribed to be included in yagyas in the Vedas?

Actually, not only are live animal sacrifices
prescribed in the Vedas, they are still common
in modern-day India. As it turned out, this
service (the Heifer Foundation) seems to be
completely benevolent, and has nothing whatsoever
to do with them. I was merely curious as to
whether it did. Vaj set me straight; it's an
organization that arranges gifts of live animals
to help people living in poverty become self
sufficient. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Actually, Barry could have found this out for
himself by clicking on the URLs that were provided
by the folks posting about the foundation. But he
saw an opportunity to focus on the dark side of
India and of Koreans.

Judy's just smarting from the devastating effects
of being laughed at, and is feeling attacked
 again, that's all.

Barry has all *kinds* of ways to avoid taking
responsibility for what he says and does. Claiming
to operate in the Now is one of them; another
is claiming the person who calls attention to
what he's said is feeling attacked.

And as usual when she feels
she has been attacked, she's trying to stink
up the place. Who knew that laughter could have
 such an effect? :-)

And still another, as I just noted, is reducing the
person who has called him to account to the status
of an animal in his mind.

It's a terrific organization, I think. I got my

(I wish they didn't spend *quite* so much on their

but they must be pretty expensive to produce.)

No, but I was wondering whether water buffalo produced
milk that could be used for human food, in addition to

Actually, one feature of the program is that
recipients are asked to give one or more of the
offspring of the animals they receive to another
family, which in turn gives offspring to another
family, and so on.

Recipients are also trained in how to take care
of the animals.

Actually, not only are live animal sacrifices
prescribed in the Vedas, they are still common

service (the Heifer Foundation) seems to be
completely benevolent, and has nothing whatsoever
to do with them. I was merely curious as to
whether it did. Vaj set me straight; it's an
organization that arranges gifts of live animals
to help people living in poverty become self
sufficient. Sounds like a good deal to me.

My sister donated to this as her Christmas present to us. I read
their
literature and got a good feeling about the whole thing.

 It's a terrific organization, I think. I got my
sister a share of a water buffalo for Christmas.

Huh?

You got your sister a share of a water buffalo that was sacrifed to
the gods in a yagya?

So, if you bought her only 1/10th of the buffalo, does she only get
1/10th of the benefit of the yagya when it is sacrificed?

...and who pays the carting fees for the burnt carcass? Are you
responsible for the same portion of the carting fees?

(I wish they didn't spend *quite* so much on their
 promotional materials, however. They're beautiful,
but they must be pretty expensive to produce.)

Subconsciously, possibly. Consciously, it's just a
phrase I picked up during the times I lived in New
York. Nu Yawkas got some real cool slang.

Is finding the answer on Google cheating?

Cheating is permitted in this case because IMO it's
a really interesting movie, all about aversion and
having to deal with your aversions before you can
get past them. Very Buddhist flick, for a scary
movie. :-)

When it first came out, a reviewer in Los Angeles
really lit into it. He wrote a *scathing* review
of the film, ranting up one side of the righteously
offended wall and down the other. The critic said
that the film was just the latest example of the
blood and gore horror flicks, and then he went
on to disparage the whole genre. The thing is,
there was *no* blood and gore on the screen during
the movie (or almost none). The screenwriter and
the director just made you see it in your head.
This supposedly-hip film critic was so unaware of
his own perceptions and how they worked that he
really came away from the film convinced that he'd
seen it onscreen, when he hadn't. Fascinating
phenomenon, in my opinion.

Of course, Ben Grimm was a street-wise New Yorker, so there you go.

 such an effect? :-)

So, you're aware that at least one person feels bad when she's laughed
at, and yet you persist in doing things to make this person feel bad.

Why?

The enlightenment he is referring to is his attainment of Skunk
