[Felvtalk] FeLV+ kitten with mild CH in North Carolina needs a home

2017-08-22 Thread Katherine K.
Who needs a buddy for their FeLV baby?

Urgent request from Davidson County Humane Society in North Carolina. Can
anyone adopt a kitten who has tested positive for FeLV and has some mild
neurological problems (cerebellar hypoplasia)? There's a photo and video of
her on their Facebook page; she's a little brown tabby.

The shelter is desperate since she's currently being boarded at a vet and
they are being charged daily for her boarding fees. I'm an hour and a half
away and can help with transport. No info yet on what kind of test she was
given.

If the timing was different for me and my FeLV cat, I would consider her
but I just can't right now. :(

And it might have done nothing. Th young ones seem to have little in reserve to
let them fight the disease. No point in second-guessing what might have been,
it can only be hurtful. If you can't find a Vet that will cooperate, there's
not much that can be done by a lay-person, except to love them and do the best
you can with what you have available.

Frankly, it is not too late at all for the Winstrol. I have seen it pull back

Robert, I am so sorry you are going thru this. I have lost many kittens who
were born with the virus, which they got from their mother who was feral. All
these precious kittens died at less than a year. At first they were so playful
and looked so healthy I thought the two tests I'd had were surely wrong, but at
8 months I started to lose them one by one. The 4th and last (my favorite)
made it to 11 months. I was devastated.

On the other hand I have had several older cats at my sanctuary who must have
contracted the virus when older. One died suddenly at 7 years old and the
other is now 8 years old, and she has never been sick.
You never know what will happen.

If you had started your little guy on Winstrol a few weeks ago it might have
saved his life, but it is probably too late now.

I just wanted to tell you I am so sorry, and I know what you are going thru.

[Felvtalk] FeLV + kitten needs help

2011-02-14 Thread TANYA NOE
Hello everyone,
A girl I know rescued an approximately 18-22 week old kitten from a high
kill shelters euthanasia list recently. The kitten has some corneal scarring
but appears to still be able to see it also is FeLV +. It is a black and white
female. She is very friendly, loves to cuddle and uses her litter box well.
The girls family won't let her keep it because of the FeLV. We have had
many talks about it but the family is still too concerned that their 3 year old
cat will get sick. She can no longer keep this sweet girl and is scared to
death at the idea of having to take it back to the shelter. We all know how
many people in this world perceive out little FeLV babies.
I posted a message last week with a picture but it was too large and I was
told a moderator would look at it and either let it go through or message me
why it had not. I never heard back on it so I am sending out this plea... Is
there anyone out there who would be willing to take this sweet little girl and
give her a home? She has been to the vet and appears to be otherwise healthy
other than the FeLV and corneal scarring.
If anyone is interested, please send me an email at
sashacatgodd...@yahoo.com and I will send you pictures of her, she is super
cute. Please, there has got to be someone out there who has the space and love
for this little honey who has been given this 2nd chance.

Thanks everyone,
I pray for good news from someone who will get the opportunity to spend many
happy years with this little angel!

separate room to keep it in. As long as the cats are separated,
any cats that
are negative cannot contract the disease from the positive cat.

[Felvtalk] FeLV Kitten Needs a Home

2009-12-03 Thread Carol Tsai Begnoche
Hi all. I've been a member of this group for about a year now and enjoy
learning and listening to your experiences regarding your FeLV kitties. I
have two positives and one negative of my own. So long story short, I went
into Petco yesterday to get some food for my cats and ran into a lady who
volunteered with an adoption agency. When she learned I had positive cats,
she asked if I would be willing to take in a 3 month old, orange tabby male
who is FeLV positive and in the care of a vet in New York City. I
respectfully declined as it was when we brought in our 3rd cat that we
learned our oldest was positive. I think the stress of having to deal with
another cat in the house caused her symptoms to surface. She is doing great
now after her diagnosis almost a year ago (as is our youngest who also ended
up being positive) and I want to keep the stress down to a minimum. That
means no new kitties for us. So I told her I'd pass along the information
to the group and see if anyone can take on or knows someone who can take in
a new FeLV kitty. If you want more information, contact me directly and
I'll provide you with the information for the shelter and woman. Thanks.
And thanks for all the great advice and information. You all have helped me
in such a huge way and I know my babies appreciate it every day.

Best,
Carol

[Felvtalk] FeLV+ kitten Orlando needs a home

2009-09-03 Thread Jeff Mills
I have a black kitten, 3.5 mos. old, pretty skittish, who I rescued from under
my house. Unfortunately, he tests FeLV positive. I hate to keep him
segregated in my bathroom for 90 days to retest him. He needs a good home!
The Cat Protection Society will take him, but only after a confirming test
after 90 days. If someone knows of a good home...

[Felvtalk] FELV+ kitten in Tampa needs home or foster desperately

2009-09-02 Thread Heather
My friends found a friendly kitten at one of their colonies, she tested a
light positive on a snap test, was retested on an Elisa test which was
positive. They plan to do an IFA in 2 weeks.

She is 12 weeks old and was returned from the (wonderful) rescue who was
helping with her as of course they had no where to segregate. My friends
don't either and this sweet little girl is in a cage in a backyard and very,
very lonely.

What makes it even more difficult in finding a home or foster is that she
just broke with ringworm URI.

I know it's like asking the impossible but if anyone knows of a potential
home or foster please let me know, she of course needs as little stress as
much love as possible and right now is very unhappy.

We also have another kitten who just tested a light positive on a snap test
and will be retesting her (including IFA) in a month.

But, they can't be combined since it is hoped she might still go
negative.

Please pardon a pathetic plea for help but if it helps get this little girl
into a better situation, figure it's worth asking/posting.

Thanks for reading! My friends who found this kitten are very wonderful
rescue people doing constant TNR, with tons of kittens in their homes
already and have no place left to segregate.

[Felvtalk] FelV Kitten news

2008-09-21 Thread Lorrie
Hi Everyone,

A few days ago I joined your group and wrote telling you about
the rescued kittens I have where some tested positive for FelV.

Today a wonderful thing happened.. An older couple came by and
fell in love with one of my positive kittens. A couple of years ago
they adopted another kitten from me, which they still have, and they
wanted this FelV kitten even tho I told them he had tested positive.

This is the kind of adoptive home we all dream about, and I was so
happy I cried when the wife told me they'd take care of him and spare
no expense for vet bills when or if needed. Zing Zing will have his
own quarters in their home and a happy life, even if it is a short
one. They even gave me a $60. donation.

Good things like this happen so seldom I wanted to share it with
you. I still have more kittens who need homes, but this made my day.
