Archive Server Error

2010-06-14 Thread Carmel
I am/was attempting to search the archive located at:
http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-questions/

Unfortunately, I am continually greeted with this error message:

quote

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, w...@freebsd.org and inform them of
the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

/quote

Is this a known problem or am I just doing something stupid?

Works for me. Try again. If you still see the problem, it's possible
your browser has cached the error page and isn't really going back to
the site at all. Try quitting and restarting your browser.

If you're using a web proxy, then the same caching problem might occur
there. If the proxy isn't under your control, then probably the best
thing for you to do is leave well alone for several hours, and then try
again.

Cheers,

Matthew

Interesting. Archive search hasn't worked for me for weeks,
with the same 500 error returned.

Not a cache issue; clearing/restarting has no effect, and I have
seen the issue on several machines/browsers (FBSD/links, Mac/Firefox,
Mac/Safari). I'm wondering about firewall/proxy -- I'll give it
a whirl when off-site later today.

I just tried from a different computer using a different web browser
with the same results.

I was wondering about this notation on the page though:

Note:The archive search index was last rebuilt at Thursday, 08 Feb 2007
06:16:51 UTC. Any postings after that will not be found by a search.
Index rebuild is usally done once every 24 hours for this list. You can
use a View by date link below to access more recent postings.

Is there any specific reason that the archive has not been re-index in
over three years? I don't remember the date of the post I wasx
referring to, so that could become a rather long process.

Still nothing when checking from home.

I'm wondering about network topology -- it is dead when

Could there be some bad cacheing on the server? I'm guessing that
wwdyn indicates some load balancing?

There seems to be some strange configuration going on; if the
IP is substituted:
http://69.147.83.38/pipermail/freebsd-questions/
a document not found error results referring to a machine
called realcgi.sky.freebsd.org.

I have recompiled the kernel and no change what so ever.
I have also upgraded windowmaker to windowmaker-0.92.0_4.

You may find clues in the Xorg log.

It is very important to say that if instead of windowmaker I define in

problems at all except that I can't run gnustep applications. That another

Lighttpd won't serve up php pages - 500 internal server error

2007-09-12 Thread Gabriel Dragffy

Hi all

I've install php5 and php5-extensions from the latest ports and also
lighty too. I compiled php5 with fastcgi support.

In lighttpd's error log I see the following:
2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.1731) connect failed: Connection
refused on unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi.socket-3
2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.2885) backend died; we'll disable
it for 5 seconds and send the request to another backend instead:
reconnects: 0 load: 1

2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.2658) child signaled: 11
2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.2462) unexpected end-of-file
(perhaps the fastcgi process died): pid: 26390 socket: unix:/tmp/php-
fastcgi.socket-3

2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.3211) child signaled: 11
2007-09-12 17:32:06: (mod_fastcgi.c.3254) response not received,
request sent: 850 on socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi.socket-3 for /
phpinfo.php , closing connection

I added the following to php.ini: cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1.

And the relevant sections of lighttpd.conf are:
server.modules  = (
mod_access,
   mod_fastcgi, )
server.document-root= /usr/local/www/data/

fastcgi.server = ( .php =
   ( localhost =
 (
   socket = /tmp/php-
fastcgi.socket,
   bin-path = /usr/local/bin/php-
cgi

 )
   )
)

The web page shown just displys 500 - Internal Server Error.

Thank you

Gabriel

Install the x11/wrapper port if you want to be able to run startx as a
mortal user.

Thanks for replying. I had the wrapper installed, but it wasn't working
properly. A reinstall fixed everything. Once again thanks for the hint.

fatal server error

2004-07-05 Thread Ted Parks
Running version 4.8, when I try to launch Windowmaker as user, I get
Fatal server error
Cannot move old logfile /var/log/XFree86.0.log.old.
I have tried deleting XFree86.0.log.old, making a blank one, and
changing permissions to allow root and user to write to and execute the
file. Also, I have tried changing owners from root to user. Nothing I
have done works.

Any ideas? What's weird to me is that Windowmaker launches no problem
from root.

Thanks,
Ted Parks

You have your dhcpd configured to use 'dynamic dns' function.

When the laptop gets an address via dhcp, the dhcpd sends a message to dns
to update the dns name to the new IP address.
Some windows clients can do this also if the option is configured in the
Windows DNS settings. Here I think it is your server as the log line comes
from dhcpd.

In this case, the name TM25.dhcp.company.com already exists so dhcpd reports
this.
This may be due to a static entry in DNS zone files or because the laptop already
had an entry configured earlier.

You can check by doing a 'dig TM25.dhcp.company.com' and see what results you
get from your DNS - you should see the name resolve to the IP address of the
laptop.

Regards,

Tony

Your first post included 'ipfw show' output. Did you figure
out what was going on there? Make sure that port 53 is
available, perhaps on both TCP and UDP.
As you see, I am no expert here. I did dig(1) some of
the information in your last post, and based on that and
the content of your error messages, think that you need
some A records, for starters...

This error sounds like you've been trying to configure 4.x XFree86 with a
3.x tool like xf86config. Try running (as root):

XFree86 -configure

and it should set up a working config file for any supported video card
and monitor.

Cheers,

Viktor

CUPS server-error-service-unavailable error

2003-02-27 Thread Jason Barnes

Greetings -questioneers. I am having trouble getting started with
cups. It seems to install okay. lpstat and lpinfo can be induced to give
the expected results, i.e.:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/sbinlpinfo -v
network socket
network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct parallel:/dev/lpt0
serial serial:/dev/ttyd0?baud=115200
direct usb:/dev/ulpt0
direct usb:/dev/unlpt0
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/sbin

However, when I try to add a printer:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/sbin!lpadm
lpadmin -p wa7 -E -v parallel:/dev/lpt0 -m stphoto.ppd
lpadmin: add-printer (enable) failed: server-error-service-unavailable
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/sbin

This happens with the web-based interface as well. Does anyone
have any idea what the problem might be? I can furnish my
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf file upon request.
Thanks for your help,

- Jason Barnes
