Re: SMP/E

2024-03-30 Thread Steely.Mark
Found the example that you provided. The execution that was performed was just
the upgrade command by itself.
Then the job was executed that performed the received and it failed.

Then the job was executed as describe in the example as the first command then
the receive command after the
Upgrade command and that worked. I must have misunderstood how to use the
UPGRADE command.

Thanks for the assistance.

Thank You

I'll ask if you did the UPGRADE in the same run as the RECEIVE process. The
example from the z/OS SMP/E Commands manual shows the UPGRADE command as part
of the same run.

The following is from the SMP/E command manual.

SET BDY(ZOSTGT).
 UPGRADE.
 BYPASS(HOLDSYS)
 CHECK.

In this example, the UPGRADE command indicates incompatible changes may be made
to SMP/E data sets. If UPGRADE is not specified, then SMP/E stops any
processing that would make incompatible changes to SMP/E data sets. In this
example, the APPLY command would very likely fail if the UPGRADE command were
not first run. However, once the UPGRADE command is run for a particular zone,
then all SMP/E commands are authorized to make incompatible changes to all
SMP/E data sets in that zone.

Just issue the UPGRADE command. IIRC FIXCAT support was added to SMP/E around
2008.
Your global zone must have been created with a release of SMP/E before that.

SMP/E

2024-03-29 Thread Steely.Mark
I recently received this message: GIM58903WSMP/E COULD NOT PROCESS A ++HOLD
FIXCAT MCS BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE MADE A CHANGE TO THE GLOBAL ZONE THAT

CANNOT BE PROCESSED COMPLETELY BY PRIOR LEVELS OF SMP/E. USE THE UPGRADE
COMMAND TO ALLOW SMP/E TO MAKE

 SUCH CHANGES.

The message says you can execute the upgrade command. ( I am not sure if I can
do that without having some type of maintenance applied)

It has been a while since I upgraded SMP/e independently of a Service Pack or
some other type of installation.

I thought I would just install the new release of SMP/e - for some reason I
can't find it on ShopzSeries.

I have tried to look all over the internet for the answer, but I always gets
hits on installing other products using SMP/e.

We are currently at SMP/E 37.13
Our SMP/E is 2.4 FMID - HMP1K00.

What should I do ?

Thank You

Re: DFsort error message

2024-03-26 Thread Steely.Mark
The issue is with the E37 - I don't see the error code but if is an 8 this is
the possible reason:

A multi-volume physical sequential data set was being written on a direct
access device. All space was filled on the volume, and an attempt was made
to obtain space on the next specified volume. Either the space was not
available on that volume, the data set already existed on that volume, or
there is no space available in the VTOC or the VTOC index. The message
contains the volume serial number of the last volume used.

Re: Reading a scratch tape

2024-02-08 Thread Steely.Mark
I think that process is correct - but I think there is a parm in the 7700
configuration that after a couple of days it will automatically remove the
contents of the tape.

So if that time has elapsed all you will get is a tape mark.

I think all you really need to do is change it from scratch to master in the
ISMF tape option under ISPF/PDF. That will tell the 7700 that it's not a
scratch tape.

That will change it in the library. You will then need to bypass your tape
system (normally that's done with the special EXPDT option for tapes outside
the library.

Remember to change it back when you are done.

I’ve never had to cancel a BPXAS. Rather, I have had to cancel a process using

Use ps -ef and kill in uss or d omvs,a=all and cancel in zos.

Gentlemen,
First, thank you for your answers. I appreciate it.

Regarding TOLENQF - it doesn't work with COMPRESS or CONSOLIDATE. The manual is
clear here.

Regarding rename - this is the thing I wanted to avoid for several reasons:
1. There is some risk to rename wrong "copy" of the dataset, or alter ICF
entries for wrong copy.
2. Valid copies are located on non-SMS disk, but cataloged out of regular
catalog search (SYS1.name in some UCAT). Plus some aliases, etc.
I want to not destroy it.
3. I don't know how to rename such datasets! Yes, I could imagine access from
another z/OS image, but it would be a series of manual ISPF r command.
Non-repeatable, error prone. Is there any tool allowing to rename such datasets
in batch? Wildcard support (i.e. REN SYS1.* SYS2.*) would be welcome.

Not sure what part you need help with. Probably the EMPTREXX, which I will
leave to someone else to help you with as I don't have time, but if you need
help with the "EDITREXX" part, see "EDMACALL" on my web site / CBT file 434.

You didn't say specifically which values in the JCL are the issue, but from the
Portable Software Instances page clicking the Add... -> From Download Server
action opens a short wizard to generate the download JCL. On step 1 of the
wizard, at the bottom of the page, you enter the UNIX directory into which you
want the files to be downloaded. This value is used on the SMPNTS DD statement
in the generated job. z/OSMF derives an initial value for this field from the
directory you used last time and the name for the Portable Software Instance
you specify at the top of the page. What is the value on that page? Does it
contain your desired directory, with the correct case? Is it the SMPNTS DD
statement you're having trouble with?

z/OSMF

2023-08-18 Thread Steely.Mark
We are z/OS V2.4. I am trying to download a software instance and z/OSMF has
generated the JCL. The JCL generated has some values that are not correct -
some path's that were generated either have my ID inserted with the ID being
uppercase - our path names are lowercase. Also one path it generated had a
different ID then mine. I must have missed a step somewhere - where do I update
the values that I would like the system to use ?

Thank You

VTOC & VTOCIX

2023-05-24 Thread Steely.Mark
Received this message: IGD17002I NO ROOM IN VTOC OR VTOC INDEX ON VOLUME XX

  FOR DATA SET
xx.x.xx

I understand the message.
Is there a way to display the used percentage of the VTOC & VTOC INDEX ?
>From option 3.4 (Data Set List Utility) panel you can display the VTOC which
>shows %Used.
I would like a process which would produce a report of all volumes with %Used
for the VTOC & VTOC INDEX.

One other question - just to verify what I have been reading.

If the VTOC and/or VTOC INDEX needs to be increased the volume must be online
to only one LPAR.
We have 4 LPARS in the same SYSPLEX. The volume would have to be offline to
three LPAR's and online to only one LPAR to perform the update.

Any other information would be appreciated.

Thank You

Re: Q: Where is LISTDSI kept? A: Not where you think.

2023-02-20 Thread Steely.Mark
Here is a simple REXX for LISTDSI:

/* A SIMPLE REXX TEST PROGRAM */
variable = 'data.set.name'
x = LISTDSI(variable)
say x
say SYSDSNAME
say SYSVOLUME
say SYSUNIT
say SYSDSORG
say SYSRECFM
say SYSLRECL
say SYSBLKSIZE
say SYSKEYLEN
say SYSALLOC

Update data.set.name with a valid DSN. The member saved must be in the SYSEXEC

xxxtest - is the member name that was saved.

Steve;

You need to brush up on your REXX.

- TSO is the default ADDRESSing environment, in most cases. Adding or removing
ADDRESS TSO will not make any difference.

- The -3 you are getting means there is no such command found. The manual
clearly states that LISTDSI is a built-in function under z/OS and whether or
not it will run outside A TSO environment. You must invoke it correctly. It
is not a command.

- STEPLIB will not help, ever. You are barking up the wrong tree, in the wrong
forest, on the wrong continent.

- The syntax you are using is for a host command. That is incorrect. You want
to invoke LISTDSI in an expression as a function or using the REXX CALL
instruction..

- Blank(s) are not allowed between a function name and the left parentheses of
the argument list. So you are still not invoking LISTDSI correctly.

- However, just removing the blank will not work either. TSO will get only the
return code from LISTDSI, which is also not a valid command. You might get
your variables set, but TSO will still complain.

Please see also my previous response.

The great thing about REXX is that it's a small, intuitive, flexible language
in which you can do 99 percent of what all other procedural languages can do,
combined, and much, much more.. Unfortunately, this means that too many people
think they know what they are doing, when they don't.

I hope this helps

I remember at one time IBM had a free / shareware tool that could delete bad
DSN entries. I used it a couple of times - but it has been years and I can't
remember the name or where it is.

I will keep looking.

Hi Carmen
Thank you for the input. I have tried IDCAMS DELETE but to no avail.
As for FDR, you are probably right. It might be something left from a job
running FDR that ended abnormally. But considering the number of "lost"
entries, some of those jobs must have considered complete even with the errors.

Does your site use a Self Help Password Reset Tool for RACF or TSS ?

We would like the customer to be able to perform this function without

Any suggestions ?

Did you check the "App Center" folder in the lower left corner of the z/OSMF
desktop? I don't know why, but some application icons do not get displayed on
the desktop by default, but you can drag them from the App Center folder to the

Any ideas of what I can check first ?

You will probably have to generate member lists for both PDS's and then you can
use REXX to generate the compare JCL member by member. There may be a quicker
way with something like PDSTOOLS, but this is how I would attempt it.

Re: zFS compress failure

2022-05-26 Thread Steely.Mark
To make the ZFS file one extent - you could unmount the ZFS file move it to
another volume using ADRDSSU something like this:

  COPY DATASET( -
   INCLUDE( -
SYSX.ZFS -
  ))-
   OUTDYNAM((vv)) -
   CANCELERROR -
   CATALOG -
   DELETE PURGE -
   NULLSTORCLAS BYPASSACS(**) -
   ALLDATA(*) -
   ALLEXCP -
   PROCESS(SYS1,UNDEF) -
   TGTALLOC(SRC)

You may need to update STORCLASS & BYPASSACS if SMS managed.

Make sure the receiving volume has enough free space to create the file in one
extent.

Then you can move the volume back to the original volume.

This may not help if something else is wrong with the file.

Thanks

Unmount, defrag (or migrate / recall), remount.
Or, create a replacement zfs, mount at a new point, copy with Unix commands,
unmount both, mount new file system, delete old file system.

I'm surprised it didn't work. Did you code a CUSTOM(proplist) parameter in
_all_ your GROUP statements that points to the PROPLIST NAME(proplist)
statement with the PROPERTY parameter? And did you refresh the ISFPARMS in all

Subject: SDSF & TSS (RACF)

I am trying to convert our SDSF from using ISFPARMS to TSS for security.

I need some direction on how to provide security for reports.

Currently I am trying to use JESSPOOL to control access.
The customer is allowed to view all currently active and held output jobs but
may only look at certain JOBS & REPORTS.

During testing I have this occurring:

The customer is trying to view this job (which the customer is not authorized)

COMMAND INPUT ===>
PREFIX=*  DEST=(ALL)  OWNER=*  SYSNAME=
NP DDNAME StepName ProcStep DSID OwnerC Dest
 JESMSGLG JES2 2 TS0242 R LOCAL
 JESJCL JES2 3 TS0242 R LOCAL
 JESYSMSG JES2 4 TS0242 R LOCAL

The above is displayed when I put a ? in the Held output screen.
This is just to show you the report has 3 different reports.

Then the customer goes back to the screen which shows the job name:

SDSF HELD OUTPUT DISPLAY ALL CLASSES LINES 55 LINE 1
COMMAND INPUT ===>
PREFIX=B1*  DEST=(ALL)  OWNER=*  SORT=JOBNAME/A  SYSNAME=
NP JOBNAME JobIDOwnerPrty C ODisp Dest
 B100042B JOB09087 TS0242144 R HOLD LOCAL

Then select the job and receives the following messages:

TSS7257E Unauthorized Access Level for JESSPOOL

TSS7257E Unauthorized Access Level for JESSPOOL

TSS7257E Unauthorized Access Level for JESSPOOL

TSS7141E Use of Accessor ID Suspended
TSS7191E Job/Session Cancelled - Excessive Violations TSS7192E Session Locked -
Excessive Violations: Signoff
CS0042 LOGGED OFF TSO AT 14:57:54 ON MAY 23, 2022 IKJ56453I SESSION CANCELLED
**

I would hate to think someone would accidently try to look at an output they
are not authorized to view and get their ID suspended.

Maybe I am going at this all wrong.

Is there a different way I should be doing this?

Any help would be appreciated.

We are currently at z/OS v2.4.

Thank You

directory backup

2022-05-03 Thread Steely.Mark
I would like to back up a directory and then execute SKULKER to clean out the
old files.

I really don't want to backup the complete HFS/ZFS file - DFDSS doesn't backup
the fie if it can't perform the quiesce on the file.

I tried using the PAX command which worked great except that it updates the
LAST CHANGED date which prevent SKULKER from selecting that file for deletion.

I thought about using DFDSS but it will only backup a single file that must be
specified - wildcards not allowed.

Any thing else out there to back up a directory which will not affect the
dates & times for the file.

Any other suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank You

dequeue program

2022-04-14 Thread Steely.Mark
There was a program that when executed would prevent the ENQ on a dataset. This
was used for jobs which would FTP a file and then use that file in steps after
the FTP.

This was the JCL used:

//JS010   EXEC PGM=FTPDEQ,
//PARM='data.set.name.here'
//SYSUDUMP DD SYSOUT=*

This would be the first step in the job.

Any one remember this program and would share a copy of it ?

Than You

Does anyone have a process that does something similar - batch, started task

SYSNAME has been around for decades.

Any chance some knucklehead removed it from your ISPCMDS command table?

If so, you can always add it back in on your private command table.

Hi Fred,

For uncataloged data sets I would have expected HSEND DELETE dsn would work to
clean up the CDS entries, MCD/MCA & TTOC. You say it didn't seem to work, why?
Any errors?

Also the steps you listed should also delete the MCD/MCA records and the data
set if it still existed on an ML1 volume. Why do you say they didn't?

Another thing you could do is use a simple IDCAMS DEFINE to define the catalog
entry of the data set. You could then see if they RECALL or you could use the
HSEND DELETE or HDELETE to delete the data set.

Sample SYSIN

 DEF -
   NONVSAM -
 (NAME(data.set.name) -
 DEVT(3390) -
 VOL(MIGRAT)

Cobol V4.2 to V6.3

2021-12-23 Thread Steely.Mark
We are in the process of going to Cobol V6.3. We are taking our current process
and trying to make the updates required for 6.3.

When a program is compiled the OBJECT compile option is used - which creates a
SYSLIN file.

The SYSLIN files look completely different between the two versions.

V4.2

.ESD .. ..@@DOPLNKWUS10001
.END ... ..15655S7100 420021354WUS10002
.XSD ..@@XINIT@WUS10003
.END ... ..15655S7100 420021354WUS10004
.XSD ..WUS110 WUS10005
Etc..

V6.3

.0..
...-WUS110..
.Ø...Ø..C_CEESG0
Etc

Then we take this file and execute through the PRELINK step.
The prelink program name is EDCPRLK.

This is where the problem occurs.

V4.2 - produces:

===
| Writable Static Map
===

  OFFSETLENGTH FILE ID INPUT NAME

   020 4
  2020 4
  4020 4
  6020 4
  8020 4
Etc.

V6.3 - produces:

| Writable Static Map |

INFORMATIONAL EDC4013: No map displayed as no writable static was found.

I found one mention that the pre-link step is not needed for V6.3

Then when the link step is executed the following messages are seen:

V6.3
IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL AuInterface_Create UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT BE
INCLUDED FROM THE DESIGNATED CALL LIBRARY.
IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL xs_Make UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT BE INCLUDED FROM THE
DESIGNATED CALL LIBRARY.
IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL AuInterface_LoadPolicy UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT BE
INCLUDED FROM THE DESIGNATED CALL LIBRARY.
IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL AuInterface_LoadPolicyCodes UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT
BE INCLUDED FROM THE DESIGNATED CALL
 LIBRARY.

V4.2 - link is successful.

Is there a different process for v6.3 programs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

Coïncidentally, I have an iSPF-related question this morning. I find I want to
write a REXX that can turn on or off a sort of test mode, by doing an ALTLIB
and LIBDEF (one each). When this test mode is on, ALTLIB and LIBDEF are active
and the commands I invoke will come from the ALTLIB library; when I'm done,
I'll turn the test mode off and the REXX will clear the datasets.

I can easily enough create an ISPF variable to track the current status. But
is there a way to look at the ALTLIB and/or LIBDEF status without it? I mean,
is there some command I can execute that'll determine whether an ALTLIB or
LIBDEF statement is (so to speak) active?

Re: MQ For z/os

2021-04-28 Thread Steely.Mark
Thanks for the response - I do have a question about the backwards migration
PTF. I found conflicting documentation that this is required:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.1?topic=tasks-backward-migration-earlier-supported-releases-mq-zos
The backward migration APARs are PI95928 for IBM MQ 8.0.0, and PI95939 for IBM
MQ 9.0.0.

This was documentation for reverting back from 9.1. But I seemed to recall
this same statement from reverting back from 9.2.
Also found documentation that states nothing needs to be done for backwards
compatibility from 9.2.

I also found this:

Backwards migration is normally only performed immediately after a migration
fails for some reason.
However, it is possible to perform backwards migration at any time if the
CSQY039I message is output at queue manager start up.

If a queue manager issues the CSQY040I message at start up, backwards migration
is not supported, and the procedure described in the following text is not
applicable.
If you have a back up of the queue manager data, prior to the migration, you
could use that data to start the queue manager up at the earlier release.

I assume these messages are displayed during start of MQ 9.2 because I don’t
see these messages in the startup of MQ 9.0.

Is this correct ?

Thank You

Mark,

Backwards migration is supported between LTS releases (i.e. 9.0.0, 9.1.0,
9.2.0), so it's not correct that the upgrade process is not reversible, unless
the question is about a CD release.

IBM always suggested being up-to-date with all maintenance before migrating to
a new release. The backwards migration process has changed in 9.2, and there is
no need to apply a specific backwards migration PTF before migrating. The
backwards migration process in 9.2 is documented here:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.2?topic=92-reverting-queue-manager-previous-version-zos
.

All the MQ on z/OS migration information is documented under this topic:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.2?topic=mq-migrating-zos

The question about backing up your page sets and logs is an interesting one.

If you backed up your page sets, and restored a pageset, (and did not restore
your logs from backup) then when you restart the queue manager it would replay
the logs and bring the restored page set(s) up to date.

If you back them up, go to the next release, run for a day and then decide to
use your backups of page sets AND LOGS ( so your logs now do not have any
updates since the backup) This causes problems like Messages which had been in
the system, and processed - now appear again (from the backup) - so where the
message said "PAY COLIN $100" would get processed twice.
Any new messages which were not processed before shutting down and restoring
would be overwritten by the restore.
Any channels going to other queue managers which had sent messages, will get
sequence number mismatches and you will have to reset the channels.

So the lesson is, you can ( and should backup) your pages sets, but *do not try
to restore the logs from backups* except under IBM's guidance.
(As a good sysprog you will have tested the backup and restore of a page set -
and have JCL already written to do this!)

regards

Colin

If you were on LTS, you could go from 9.0 to 9.1 and back to 9.0 without losing
any messages.

MQ For z/os

2021-04-27 Thread Steely.Mark
Has anyone upgraded from MQ 9.0 to 9.2 ?

Is there any PTF's that need to be applied to 9.0 before going to 9.2. This is
the only thing I have found:

While at MQ 9.0, take a full backup of the queue managers. Why? Because the
upgrade process is NOT reversible. If you need to revert back from MQ 9.1 to
9.0, then you must delete the queue managers and restore the backup taken at MQ
9.0.

I know this statement is talking about 9.1 but I think it would also relate
going to 9.2.

Any information relating to upgrading MQ would be appreciated.

Thank You

You can also try: DELETE CATALOG..NAME USERCATALOG RECOVERY

Since it was deleted with recovery you should define a new catalog and then do
the delete without the recovery.

I've got a catalog problem. I have no reason to believe it is the most obscure
problem in the world; it's just that I am a catalog ignoramus.

I *think* the problem is that the catalog is cataloged but the underlying
dataset does not exist. Does that make sense? If I enter an ISPF 3.4 D against
it ISPF tells me "Dataset not found." That's a problem, right?

If I enter a U against it ISPF tells me Catalog/uncatalog request via SVC 26
failed, return code = 60, reason code = 4, module id = FM.

Thanks for your help. I believe I would be fine if I could just delete it and
start over. I don't know quite how this situation came to be.

What you think is in SMF may be something else when displayed.

Next I would work with an ID (Hopefully yours) that is getting S622.

Then logon the ID and start a stop watch. Make sure you can repeat the error

Next - are you using a Session Manager? Can it control length of time of

Lastly - any changes since the last time it worked and when it first started to

Well...

The first thing youve got to do is fix your edit macro. When you run an edit
macro in batch, it has to end with "ISREDIT END".

So, you might have two different versions, one for batch and one for online.

Second, when you run ISREDIT in batch, you have to use a macro to supply the
input. So, you'll probably need to rethink how youre invoking ISREDIT in batch.

z/OSMF & TSS

2020-05-21 Thread Steely.Mark
Does anyone have z/OSMF active using TSS (Top Secret) ? I have been using the
"Convert z/OS 2.3 member IZUSEC from RACF to TSS commands".

z/OSMF still has problems activating - I would like to see how other sites have
setup the ID's IBM requires.

My main concern is IZUADMIN. The documentation says to set this up as a profile
but z/OSMF uses that ID as a USER.

If you prefer you may contact me offline.

CICS & Omegamon

2020-02-13 Thread Steely.Mark
There used to be a CICS ID sample report that Omegamon provided. REPORT USERID
DETAIL

We are currently Omegamon 5.5 and CICS TS 5.2 and z/OS v2.2. .

All the documentation I have found reference members and proc's that are not in
the documented file.

I have search all the libraries looking for the files.

Is this report still available and would you be able to provide the JCL to
create this report.

Thank You

Sign on Activity Top Secret

2019-12-11 Thread Steely.Mark
Does someone have a program that can be shared - that will list all TSO sign-on

I know it is SMF 80 record. I can write a program but I don't want to re-invent

The program can be SAS, EARL, ASM etc
We are z/OS v2.2 and TSS v16. I looked at TSSUTIL but it only listed violations.
CA / Broadcom documentation states: Use a report generator or program to
produce customized reports based on the credential types used during signon

TSS Certificate Process

I got this request from a customer:

I need a keyring on the SYSX top secret database for XXID01. I have a

This is for SMPE RECEIVE ORDER processing.

What are the steps to get this setup. I did execute a CHKCERT on XX.CER

I then tried to do a GENCERT but the error stated that I need to provide

Not sure what information to provide.

I also use this command in batch to display how my zFS files are in size

//ZFCACHE1 EXEC PGM=BPXBATCH,
// PARM='sh df -kP /appl/ars/Prod/cache'
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSTSPRT DD SYSOUT=*
//STDOUT DD SYSOUT=*

Good for batch or OMVS usage

But as others will point out, for User zFS/HFS files, use one per user. With
FTP and other processes using more and more USS services, some will grow really
big and others will stay small. You will also have an easier clean up process
by using individual files for the file system.

In my opinion, you cannot do much using IFASMFDP. Fairly stable (can you say
no real enhancement potential).

You could look at using LOGSTREAM for SMF Data (which I am told is nicer) -
Logstream provides a possibility of better search criteria.

>From my experience, when you have HUGE SMF files (offloaded) it is difficult to
manage with better tools like ASPG SMFUTIL or CA SMF Director.

Just using SMF IFASMFDP, makes the process more prone to difficulties.

Just my humble opinion - and I have just converted to a new series of SMF jobs
to do the collection, interim dumps to Daily files and Daily Mod'd onto Monthly.
We do not have WEEKLY.

When the process runs, it is great. When it fails, I have to spend many, many
days recovering the SMF data.

Sometimes you need to review the SMF Collection process and see what makes
sense. Do you need to keep all Records (and z/OS V2.3 adds more new SMF record
Types) or just specific ones. I can only see SMF Data getting bigger and bigger
as the years to come. What is needed for AUDIT functions and what is needed for
Capacity Planning/Performance Tuning.

It's a specific problem we are looking at, in which a BLDL is failing
with ABEND306-4 despite the data set being in the APF list. To be clear,
the data set is being accessed via a private DD statement, not via the
lnklst.

EDIT Macro

2018-10-08 Thread Steely.Mark
I have a JCL Check product that uses an EDIT Macro to check the JCL. This EDIT
Macro has been copied under different member names through the years. The
customers uses whatever process was provided when hired.

The question is can I call another edit macro within another edit macro.

Ex. JJ1 JJ2 JJ3 are all exactly the same.
How can I leave JJ1 alone and have JJ2 & JJ3 call JJ1.

The manuals were not very informative.

I tried EXEC 'aaa.aaa.aaa(JJ1)'Cant exec an edit macro that way.

I really don't want to use PDS ALIAS technique.

Any help would be appreciated.

CF - CFRM Question.

2018-08-16 Thread Steely.Mark
We are z/OS V2.2. While I was updating the IODF It was decided to change the
Couple Facility Partition Identifier (CFA) from 8 to 9. Nothing else about that
partition was changed.

Also another CF Partition was created as CFB with Partition Identifier 9. At
this point nothing is attached to this partition.

I was informed since the partition ID was changed that the CFRM needed to be
updated.

So I added the additional CF NAME and updated the PARTITION #.
CF NAME(CFA)
   TYPE(00)
   MFG(IBM)
   PLANT(02)
   SEQUENCE(00094037)
   PARTITION(9)
   CPCID(00)
   DUMPSPACE(367002)

CF NAME(CFB)
   TYPE(00)
   MFG(IBM)
   PLANT(02)
   SEQUENCE(00094037)
   PARTITION(8)
   CPCID(00)
   DUMPSPACE(367002)

Also updated all STRUCTURE's with PREFLIST with CFA & CFB.

STRUCTURE NAME(XX__X)
   SIZE(172128)
   INITSIZE(114752)
   FULLTHRESHOLD(90)
   ALLOWAUTOALT(NO)
   REBUILDPERCENT(1)
   DUPLEX(DISABLED)
   PREFLIST(CFA,CFB)

Then executed the utility and received a Cond code 0.

During the IPL the following message was received:

IXC518I SYSTEM not using CF

Reason: Not in the CFRM active policy
Reason Flag: 1332.

NOT IN THE CFRM ACTIVE POLICY. REASON FLAG: reason.
The CFRM active policy does not have this coupling facility defined. The
coupling facility is connected to the system but will not be used since not in
CFRM active policy.

After that re-occurring error messages .

At this point I decide to change the partition number back to 8 in the HMC and
re-activated the CF.
I also put back in place the old CFRM. RE-IPL and was able to successfully
bring the system back up.

What would be the correct way to update this ? What I have been able to find
is to create a new CFRM and then perform a SETXCF
START,POLICY,TYPE=CFRM,POLNAME=CFRM.
Do I update the current CFRM?
Can I use the same POLNAME ?
How do I switch to the updated CFRM ?

Any help would be appreciated.

We were also wondering how the system was able to use the partition # defined
in the CFRM as partition 8 but the IODF has it defined as partition 9.

Thank You

SPOOL Volumes

2018-07-12 Thread Steely.Mark
We are z/OS v2.2. During a DR exercise most times a cold start is performed
for JES2. I noticed that a volume (that is currently online but not currently
used by JES2 in production) was discovered and put into use by the JES2 cold
start.

This was not a problem at DR but is there a way to specify not to allocate this
volume during the cold start. I know I could vary the volume offline , or
rename the dataset on the volume or rename the volume.

Any other ways to do this.

Subject: unexpected tape issue with RETAIN

I have a 50+ step backup job (using real 3590s) that has steps like:

//STEP049 EXEC PGM=ADRDSSU
//SYSPRINT DD  SYSOUT=*
//DASD DD  DISP=SHR,UNIT=3390,VOL=SER=HKYTD4
//BACKUP   DD  DSN=DR.T.DSS.HKYTD4.,DISP=(NEW,KEEP,DELETE),
// UNIT=3590,VOL=(,RETAIN,REF=*.STEP048.BACKUP),
// LABEL=(49,SL,RETPD=),DCB=(MODEL.DSCB,BLKSIZE=0)
//SYSINDD  *
DUMP FULL INDD(DASD) OUTDD(BACKUP) ALLD(*) ADMIN TOL(IOER) ALLE
/*
//*
//STEP050 EXEC PGM=ADRDSSU
//SYSPRINT DD  SYSOUT=*
//DASD DD  DISP=SHR,UNIT=3390,VOL=SER=HKYTD5
//BACKUP   DD  DSN=DR.T.DSS.HKYTD5.,DISP=(NEW,KEEP,DELETE),
// UNIT=3590,VOL=(,RETAIN,REF=*.STEP049.BACKUP),
// LABEL=(50,SL,RETPD=),DCB=(MODEL.DSCB,BLKSIZE=0)
//SYSINDD  *
DUMP FULL INDD(DASD) OUTDD(BACKUP) ALLD(*) ADMIN TOL(IOER) ALLE
/*

This job always worked on OS/390 2.10, but under z/OS 1.13, randomly,
when going to a new step, it wants the current tape mounted on a
different 3590. Additionally, it does not unload the tape from the first
drive.

Also: If I have only one drive online, it runs to completion. If I have
two drives, but the other one is busy, it runs to completion.

Info: This system is using RMM as a tape manager, but the files being
created on the tape are not defined in any storage group or RMM.

It is driving me batty. I have to be 'not seeing' something.

When you end out of that member it continues the search.

I don't know a way to do it just with JCL, but a program can do it easily.
You could have a program that accepted a PARM of the member name that you want.
The program would open a PDS concatenation and get the member that you want,
then copy it to a temporary data set that your other program read. Maybe you
can find a utility that will do it for you.

Transmitting a job

2018-03-12 Thread Steely.Mark
We are trying to transmit a job from the current system to another system. The

When the job needs to
go through one node to get to the other node it fails.

Scenario : A to B success , B to A success. D to B success. B to D Success. A

B to A fails. We receive the following messages on B:

SECURITY PRODUCT RETURN CODE = 0008 REASON CODE =
$HASP250 TS0242DD PURGED -- (JOB KEY WAS D404982C)

I did a TSSTRACK and received:

B 0828 00JES2 J F *MISSING ACSCD *07* VFX HA$PSUBS *BELOW*
   NAME=** UNDEFINED ACID **

07 = PASSWORD MISSING

We are not sure when this stopped working but we did upgrade from R15 to R16 of
TSS several weeks ago.

We do not have any nodes defined in TSS.

Any help would be appreciated. We are z/OS V2.2.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. The example command ' TSS PER(USER1)

The command without the SYMCPACFRET option is successful.

Took a little bit, but I have an answer from TSS development:

DSKEY Keyword-Dataset Encryption Key Label Last update September 28, 2017 Valid
on z/OS.

Use the DSKEY keyword to specify the key label that encrypts/decrypts the data
in the z/OS Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility (ICSF) cryptographic key
data set (CKDS).

This keyword has the following format:

TSS PER(acid) DSNAME(dataset_resource) DSKEY(key_label)

key_label

Specifies a 1- to 64-character data set key label.

This keyword is used with:

PERMIT command
ACID types User, DCA, VCA, ZCA, LSCA, and SCA DSNAME resource class only
Resource(XAUTH) authority to specify ACTION for resources that are owned within
their scope
Example: Associate a Key Label with a Data Set This example associates a data
set key label with ACCT.FILE.DATA and-through the SYMCPACFRET setting-allows
ICSF to return a protected key in a wrapped form:

TSS PER(USER1) DSNAME(ACCT.FILE.DATA) DSKEY(AES_SECURE_KEY) SYMCPACFRET(YES)

LNKLST Question

2017-10-31 Thread Steely.Mark
This is the steps to add and remove PDS/E from the LNKLST from an IBM document:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1010789

To remove a PDSE in LNKLST:

SETPROG LNKLST,DEFINE,NAME=LNKLST2,COPYFROM=LNKLST1
SETPROG LNKLST,DELETE,NAME=LNKLST2,DSNAME=YOUR.LINKLIST.PDSE
SETPROG LNKLST,ACTIVATE,NAME=LNKLST2
SETPROG LNKLST,UPDATE,JOB=*
F LLA,REFRESH

To add it back, do the following:

SETPROG LNKLST,DEFINE,NAME=LNKLST3,COPYFROM=LNKLST2
SETPROG LNKLST,ADD,NAME=LNKLST3,DSNAME=YOUR.LINKLIST.PDSE
SETPROG LNKLST,ACTIVATE,NAME=LNKLST3
SETPROG LNKLST,UPDATE,JOB=*
F LLA,REFRESH

This would need to be done on all LPARs that share the link listed PDSE.

My question is would it be possible to activate LNKLST1 again instead of
defining LNKLST3 ?

We are z/OS v2.2.

Thank You

My comment was meant more for z/OS release upgrades. In some of our sysplexes,
we run both old and new releases for some period before full migration. I guess
it's somewhat risky, but we generally rebuild SAD when the first member gets
upgraded. If we were shot at, we were missed. ;-)

Now I am worried.  I am the origin of the post.  I checked and so far I haven't

add the DD statement FILE if VSAM files are to be processed?

FILE(ddname)

specifies the name of a DD statement that identifies all the volumes that

dynamically allocate the required volumes.

Since you are not accessing the datasets, why would you care what volume they
are on.  MERGECAT moves catalog entries from one catalog to another.  If any of
the entries being moved require the VVDS be updated, the information to access
that VVDS is already available and there is no need for the user to provide it.

PDS/E issue

2017-09-05 Thread Steely.Mark
We are z/OS 2.2. For a DR test our current volumes are flashed ( I may not be
using the correct term) and we IPL from these volumes. The DR test is also
performed on a separate CPU not connected to the current environment. After the
IPL we have a process which updates several members in a PDS/E .
We use a file-aid job to update the members - this PDS/E is a JES2 proc. The
job received the following messages : PDSE MEMBER IN USE, UNABLE TO PROCESS
MEMBER 1234. I tried several ways to determine what was using the data set
and/or member. I was able to edit the data set and member. I used a MXI enq
display and D GRS,RES=(*,xxx.x) command and nothing was found.

I was able to allocate a new pds/e using ISPF 3.2 and copy the members using
ISPF 3.3. Then I was able to rename the datasets and resume processing. After
the rename - with the old dataset - I tried to run the update job and it still
failed with the in use message. With the new pdse the job ran as expected.

I didn't have any more time to investigate.

Has anyone else had this type of issue ?

Any other idea's what to do if this occurs again?

Thank You

ICSF Again

2017-05-10 Thread Steely.Mark
I was trying to rename a key in the CKDS. I was using PGM=CSFKGUP,PARM=('SSM').

I received this error:

The master key verification patterns in the CKDS do not match the
verification patterns of the active DES and AES master keys.

We do not have any crypto hardware and no coprocessor's defined.
We do not have an active TKDS. CSF has no error message and starts
successfully.
This is not causing an operational issue - but from the error message something
is not in sync.
Also I was able to perform this function on our sandbox system - so the JCL is
correct.

This is the answer from IBM:

The following information should help to get you started. Your displays
show that you have no active cryptographic coprocessors. Unless your
target CKDS (specified by "CSFCKDS" value in your KGUP data definition
statement) is configured as a clear-key CKDS, you will need to load and
set the appropriate Master Keys (DES and/or AES) under which your CKDS
is encrypted to access and alter its contents. This requires the use of
cryptographic hardware. (Which we don't have)

This doesn't help me at all. I still don't have any idea's how to start. I am
just a rookie with ICSF.
How do I display the master key verification patterns ?
Where is this ? specified by "CSFCKDS" value in your KGUP data definition
statement

We are z/OS V2.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

ICSF -CKDS Question

2017-04-19 Thread Steely.Mark
I have several keys defined in the CKDS.

I have been able to rename the keys using program CSFKGUP and refresh the keys
using program CSFEUTIL.

I would like to make a copy of a key and rename it and store it in the CKDS.
EX. Keya.test copy and make Keyb.test. Both keys are now available.

Is there an easy way to do this. IBM documentation makes reference that it can
be done - but can't find anything to demonstrate how to perform this.

class defined as CSFKEYS. The CICS regions are bypassing the CSFKEYS check due
to the option of NORESCHK. Can the exit could force a check if CSFKEYS
resource is requested. I have the sample provided by CA but it doesn't have any
code for the resource access validation section.

Thanks

Re: Read SMF using COBOL

2017-03-22 Thread Steely.Mark
The solution was to change the file system to :

 FD SMF-RECORDS-IN
RECORDING MODE S
LABEL RECORDS ARE STANDARD
BLOCK CONTAINS 0 CHARACTERS Change this to 0 char
RECORD CONTAINS 0 CHARACTERSChange this to 0 char
 DATA RECORDS ARE SMF-MIN-REC
 SMF-TYPE14-REC
 SMF-TYPE17-REC
 SMF-TYPE65-REC
 SMF-MAX-REC.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Read SMF using COBOL

2017-03-22 Thread Steely.Mark
I am trying to read SMF data using COBOL for z/OS 4.2.0. This setup use to
work but that was in a past life.

This input is Record Format. . . : VBS, Record Length. . . : 32760 & Block Size
  . . . : 32760. Program IFASMFDP

Cobol File Section:

FD SMF-RECORDS-IN
RECORDING MODE S
LABEL RECORDS ARE STANDARD
BLOCK CONTAINS 32760 CHARACTERS
RECORD CONTAINS 14 TO 32760 CHARACTERS
DATA RECORDS ARE SMF-MIN-REC
 SMF-TYPE14-REC
 SMF-TYPE17-REC
 SMF-TYPE65-REC
 SMF-MAX-REC.
SKIP1
01 SMF-MIN-REC.
12 FILLER PIC X.
12 SMF-RECORD-TYPE PIC X.
12 FILLER PIC X(12).
SKIP3
01 SMF-TYPE14-REC.
12 FILLER PIC X(284).
SKIP3
01 SMF-TYPE17-REC.
12 FILLER PIC X(232).
SKIP3
01 SMF-TYPE65-REC.
12 FILLER PIC X(208).
SKIP3
01 SMF-MAX-REC.
12 FILLER PIC X(32760).
EJECT

Receive error:
IGZ0201W A file attribute mismatch was detected. File SMF-RECORDS-IN in program
SMFXTRCT had a record length of 32771 and the file specified
in the ASSIGN clause had a record length of 32760.
IGZ0035S There was an unsuccessful OPEN or CLOSE of file SMFIN in program
SMFXTRCT at relative location X'0416'. Neither FILE STATUS nor an ERROR
declarative were specified. The status code was 39. From compile unit
SMFXTRCT at entry point SMFXTRCT at compile unit offset +0416 at address
7786.
<> LEAID ENTERED (LEVEL 11/20/2015 AT 08.13)
<> LEAID PROCESSING COMPLETE. RC=0

I tried changing to RECORD CONTAINS to 32771 but receive error message:
IGYGR1224-E SMF-RECORDS-IN" was greater than the maximum allowable size 32767

Is there a way to do this with COBOL.

Thanks

ICSF Question

2017-02-16 Thread Steely.Mark
Is there anything out there that will generate a report of what is in the
variable length CKDS ?

I am able to browse the file but some type of report would be nice.

Thanks

Re: TSS or RACF case sensitive

2016-12-23 Thread Steely.Mark
You are correct about option 6. While investigating the responses the TSS
clist I was using to issue the commands was switching everything to uppercase.
When I don’t use the TSS clist to issue the commands the lowercase parms are
retained.

Thanks for all you help.

No, it doesn't. I just tested this and proved command operands are _not_
converted to uppercase.

I get the same results from READY and from ISPF 6 under z/OS 2.2.

You can prove this for yourself. Just set a breakpoint at the start of your
program. At entry, R1 points to the CPPL. The first word is CPPLCBUF which
points to the command buffer. List that data to satisfy yourself.

TSS or RACF case sensitive

2016-12-23 Thread Steely.Mark
I need to define stuff to TSS which is case sensitive. When I enter the command
from option 6 it converts it to uppercase.

If I execute from a member it appears to do the same thing.

Quotes don’t seem to alter the results.

We are z/OS v2.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Operational Decision Manager for z/OS®

2016-12-02 Thread Steely.Mark
This may not be the best place to ask this but maybe someone can direct me to a
TSS listserv.

The RACF stuff needs to be converted to TSS.

I can't find anything is TSS that reference class(server).

I am new to the TSS world. We are z/OS v.2.2 and I think TSS is R15.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Liberty Profile server requires multiple SAF profiles in the STARTED and
SERVER classes. Proceed as follows to create them.
Procedure
1. The user ID that the angel process runs under needs the SAF STARTED
profile, for example:

2.  RDEFINE STARTED BBGZANGL.* UACC(NONE) STDATA(USER())
SETROPTS RACLIST(STARTED) REFRESH
The Operational Decision Manager for z/OS zRule Execution Server for z/OS
Liberty server runs under the authority of the zRule Execution Server for z/OS
started task user ID. This user ID needs to be able to connect to the angel
process to use authorized services.

3. To allow the zRule Execution Server for z/OS Liberty server to connect
to the angel process, create a profile for the angel process (BBG.ANGEL) in the
SERVER class. Give the zRule Execution Server for z/OS started task user ID
() authority to access it, for example, in RACF:

4. RDEFINE SERVER BBG.ANGEL UACC(NONE)
PERMIT BBG.ANGEL CLASS(SERVER) ACCESS(READ) ID()

5. To allow a Liberty server to use the z/OS authorized services, create a
SERVER profile for the authorized module BBGZSAFM and allow the zRule Execution
Server for z/OS started task user ID () to the profile. This
action allows a Liberty server to use the z/OS Authorized services, for
example, in RACF:

6. RDEFINE SERVER BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM UACC(NONE)
PERMIT BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM CLASS(SERVER) ACCESS(READ) ID()

7. To allow the zRule Execution Server for z/OS Liberty server to access
the services necessary for security, create a profile for the SAF authorized
user registry services and SAF authorization services (SAFCRED) in the SERVER
class. Give the zRule Execution Server for z/OS started task user ID
() authority to access it, for example, in RACF:

8. RDEFINE SERVER BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM.SAFCRED UACC(NONE)
PERMIT BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM.SAFCRED CLASS(SERVER) ACCESS(READ)
ID()

9. Refresh the SERVER resource:
SETROPTS RACLIST(SERVER) REFRESH

concat

2016-11-30 Thread Steely.Mark
Would anyone be able to provide a way to concatenate a library to the SYSPROC
allocation.

I have tried the concat program from the CBT tape file 134 that abend with a
S0c4.
I have tried a rexx exec called ALLOCREX. This sort of works ( it adds my ds to
SYSPROC) but does not keep the same setup of SYSPROC before the addition.
I have tried clist SPROC from IBM but for some reason it is not working.

Does anyone have something they can share for z/os V2.2.

Thanks
