I checked this site, and it does not appear to have an RSS feed. If it did have one, JAWS would announce RSS Feed when the page is initially loaded. The RSS feed reader built into IE 8 is the most accessible and easiest to use feed reader I have tried. List, I am running latest jaws 13, windows 7 and outlook 2010. When I open an E mail message, jaws automatically reads the message. [JAWS-Users] daily tip Microsoft Word
Daily Tip: Case Toggling This is a function in Microsoft Word that you've been thinking about for a while; the ability to toggle through lower and upper cases. How often have you needed to capitalize letter in a word or capitalized a letter by accident? Just highlight the letters or words in question and press SHIFT-F3. The case of the letters will alternate between all lowercase, capitalizing the first letter of each word, and all uppercase. Al, when the message is opened, the delete key alone or with the shift key do nothing. So the control key with letter D is the only thing that works to delete the message. If the message is not open, then as you note, the delete key or shift delete key work. I am using a laptop but do not think that makes a difference? Thanks for the prompt suggestion though. Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2010 not automatically reading message after deleting previous message
Hello John, There is an option that can be set to tell Outlook to open the next item when one is deleted. When in the list of a folder use Alt+F followed by Alt+T to move into the Outlook options. Use down arrow key in the list of options to move to the Mail options. Use shift+tab three times to get to the combo box that controls what Outlook does when you delete an open message. Use down arrow key until you get to the choice that tells Outlook to open the next item. Tab to the OK button and use spacebar. If your JAWS setting is set to read messages automatically, the next message in the list should open and JAWS should start reading it after you use CTRL+D in an open message to delete it. Take care. [JAWS-Users] very strange problem/can't get on the Net after installing Jaws update
I have tried installing this 2 different ways--through the help menu in Jaws, and by going to F.S. site and downloading and installing the latest Jaws 13. I have never seen this happen, and this happened with another recommended accessible program as well. Before installing the update, I am online just fine. After installation and re-start, even though network settings say I'm wireless connected with excellent connection, I can't get online. Internet Explorer keeps saying 1 percent, 7 percent, and connecting tab, etc. I don't understand how I could be connected, and yet installing the update actually makes it impossible for me to go back online. Has this ever happened to anyone, and is there anything at all I can do? I've had to restore my system several times and just turn down the update installation when it asks if I want to update. I really hope someone can help. I even did a repair but just hasn't done any good. Joanne For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Can't read Word docs in 2003
Hello; Perhaps this has been discussed here before but I had nearly given up on Jaws 13 so wasn't following. I can not read a .doc from MSWord 2003 on a XP Pro machine. All I get from the pc cursor is silence unless I use the say line. The say line keystroke says blank even if the jaws cursor can read the line. Has anyone else had this behavior. This problem may be connected with my problem with reading the headers in my Outlook2003. I contacted FS support on the Outlook problem and received a ticket number. I gave them a number and a time when I would be at the machine. I received a message on voice mail when I was not at work. I Called the number I was given and a cell number but never received a return call. I'll say no more on FS support. If anyone has a fix or work-around for either of these problems I would surely appreciate it Going back to Jaws 12 again. Re: [JAWS-Users] very strange problem/can't get on the Net afterinstalling Jaws update
Well? I rather doubt it is a Jaws issue. I don't think they do anything with your DNS or network settings. After you run the update, can you log on to your router's status page? Does it show whether you have an DNS address from your ISP? If not, try hitting the connect button on the router's status page. Now, if you are using ATT Dsl, then try disconnecting power from the router and DSL modem. After a minute, plug the modem back in and let it boot up for at least thirty seconds. Then, plug the router in. RE-boot your computer and see if you have internet back. I have to do the power-down routine about every two weeks with this stupid DSL connection. EVen though I am on the wireless network internally, the internet connection seems to deteriorate after a period of time. - Original Message - From: Joanne houseofmusic3...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 10:31 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] very strange problem/can't get on the Net afterinstalling Jaws update I have tried installing this 2 different ways--through the help menu in Jaws, and by going to F.S. site and downloading and installing the latest Jaws 13. [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS and buying a new computer
Hi everyone: I'm starting a new medical transcription job and finding myself in need of a new computer. I will be running a transcription platform, which handles downloading and playing of audio plus the word processing part of transcription of that same audio. The minimum requirements are for a core 2 duo processor with 3 gigs of ram 32 bit, or 4 gigs with 64 bit. I realize running jaws ups these requirements somewhat if I don't want to have lags and sluggishness. Can I get any suggestions for just how much processor speed and ram I should spring for? Should I just go all out and get as much power and memory as I can afford? Is anybody using JAWS with a solid state drive, and what's the performance there like? Any configurations I should avoid? Should I go desktop or laptop? I have JAWS 13 and will be using the Windows 7 home version. Thanks in advance and thanks for having me on the list. If you get a 64 bit and can afford 6 gigs go for 6 gigs not the minimal 4. You won't regret it when using the audio stuff while having the transcription and the word files and everything else going on at the same time. I have a laptop with 6 gigs and a laptop with 4 gigs and both running top notch Ram and both running outstanding video cards but I still find that when I can afford it I want to update the secondary laptop to six gigs one of these days. -Original Message- From: Kimberly thurman Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 4:09 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS and buying a new computer Hi everyone: I'm starting a new medical transcription job and finding myself in need of a new computer. [JAWS-Users] where can I get webvisom?
Hi listers, Not sure how I avoided it this long, lol, but I’m ready to bow to the inevitable after battling with yet another captcha and an audiofile I couldn’t figure out. I have Firefox installed but am fairly new to it, if that matters. (I’m not sure of the version off hand, though I installed about a month ago via Ninite if that tells anyone.) Anyway, is Webvisom still only available by invitation? If so, I’d appreciate one and any tips for using/getting started with it. I know someone did a tutorial on it at some point but don’t seem to have it saved on my new system, so if anybody can direct me there that’d be great. Also, is Selona really dead in the water? Try 'find' instead of looking for a particular form. On my bank web site, submit is a link. So I just do find for the word 'submit' and locate it that way. Re: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS and buying a new computer
Kim, I just purchased a new laptop as I want something portable so I can travel with the computer. This time, I went more top end and bought 8 gigs of memory, an Intel I 5 2430 processor (quad processor with turbo boost) and a 7200 rpm hard drive. I am using office 2010 and windows 7 home premium. I wanted something that would not get bogged down when working with Word(a memory hog) and outlook and the internet. I can have numerous documents, web pages and excel all opened and no slowdown. I am a 22 year user of jaws and have never had a computer like this and after two months, have not locked it up. I agree with the one suggestion that you consider whether you need the ability to travel with the computer and if not, the desk top might be fine as they are usually cheaper for the same capability as a laptop. That said, I have another 15 inch laptop that I have 4 USB ports on and I plug a keyboard into the computer alone with a scanner and remote hard drive and printer so that it works like a desktop but I could pick it up and travel with it. This laptop however weighs 6 pounds versus 3 pounds for my newest laptop with a 13 inch screen. Good luck and have fun getting the right computer. If you take second best, you will not enjoy the experience. And I am the voice of experience talking about that aspect of the issue. Also, how well do addons work with JAWS 12 and Windows 7 and are there any that you guys recommend? I myself would try a repair of jaws if probable, it is sounding like jaws does at times when I bring out of sleep/hibernation modes, but all I need do to fix it is restart jaws, while yours seems a constant, something to do with the video pickup I would guess. and when I had J12 I never had this problem, but I'm running j13 now.
