Hi Linda,

I had to get a 64 bit disk from Freedom Scientific before Openbook8 would
work on my Win7 64 bit computer. Is your computer 64 or 32 bit? If your
computer is 64 bit, maybe something happened along the line where the 64
bit
disk wasn't necessary any more for Openbook8 to run on a Win7 64 bit
system.

All I know, which isn't much, was having to wait for that disk before I
could run OB8 on my computer.
Take care.

Hi all! I know that you will be able to help me. I have a new Asus
laptop with Windows 8.1 and using JAWS 16.0.1925, latest update. When
I install OpenBook version 7, it seems to install Okay. When I go to
launch the application, the IBM voice never speaks, and JAWS says
nothing in OpenBook. If I turn on Narator, I here an error message in
OpenBook saying OpenBook is not responding. If I could get JAWS to
talk in the OpenBook window, I might be able to figure out more what
is going on, but I can't. Why do you think that OpenBook 7 is not
responding if my installation seems to go Okay? Thanks in advance

Linda, you do know that you can set your email prefs to delete everything
in

the delete folder each time you close close your mail client, right? I
can't remember which client you use, but I could do that in every mail
client I've ever used, so you might want to prowl around in your options
menu there and do that. This way, stuff doesn't build up over time and
take

up space that could be better used (grin).

it takes so little effort.

This isn't what I was asking but I've gotten answers and now can do what I
wanted which was to delete the entire deleted folder without having to shut
down the computer. When I do do that, it does delete that folder
automatically.

Thanks for the thought.

Linda,

Could it be asking you to allow to compress msg?
WM does this for me every 100th time I close the pgr, I always allow for
it

do do this, it takes a nanno second to do.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Deleting the entire Delete Folder at once

Hi List:

I am having a senior moment so could someone please remind me how I
delete
the entire deleted folder at once? I am using Windows 7 Home, Windows
Mail as my client and JAWS 15 with the latest bild.

[JAWS-Users] IE 9 or 10 tutorial

2014-09-19 Thread Linda Vanderlitz

Hi List:

The subject says a lot. Is there somewhere I can get a tutorial for a JAWS
15 and Windows 7 user who isn't very computer literate to find a tutorial to
learn how to use IE 9 or 10? I am now using IE 8 and need very clear and
simple instructions as I am totally blind and have no sighted help.

Thanks very much for any and all suggestions.

one other thing here Linda, make sure and I guess this happens by
default??
check your MS configuration to make sure freedom scientific jaws or
however
that reads is checked on your startup tab page, it's my very first item.
I
guess it automatically checks it's self in this area when installing
it,

but you do have the option to have it not run at startup, maybe that is
for
other screen readers, I haven't ever used any others, so I'm not wise on
this subject, it's all my old brain can handle to keep up with this one
and
how it works, then there's the ios another beast..

one other thing here Linda, make sure and I guess this happens by
default??
check your MS configuration to make sure freedom scientific jaws or
however

that reads is checked on your startup tab page, it's my very first item. I
guess it automatically checks it's self in this area when installing it,
but you do have the option to have it not run at startup, maybe that is

Linda,

did you enter on where it says start jaws...?
then tab to check the boxs that say, automatically start jaws at the
log-on
screen check box, start jaws after log-on for all users checkbox, start
jaws
for this user combo box and mine is set to always then you land on the
ok
button spacebar it, then you can choose to run jaws from the system's
tray
if you like, I love it personally, but you might not.. it's another
check

box, if you make changes, make sure to tap the ok button for the changes
to

Hi Cindy are you using Windows 7?
If so the only client you can use is the latest version of Windows Live
Mail!
Windows Mail is unfortunately not supported!
Microsoft doesn't allow for that!

Hi list.

As asked in the subject line, am i a bit frustrated of that, jaws from
time to time announce’s the name of the old e-mail client in Win XP, e.g.
when i have send a message by pressing alt+s, and focus return’s to the
folder list view, or when i jump from folder to folder with unread message’s
using ctrl+j.

I hope the keystrokes are the same in your version, even we are using it
in either our language’s.

Do any of you experience the same, and is it something that Freedom
Scientific have forgotten to replace in Jaws with “Windows Live Mail”?

I have experienced this in both Jaws 12 and 13, and in all beta relese’.

It's just that I am backing up to the server from no less than 2 systems
at

this point as I am in the process of changing my main system to my 7 box.
What happened is that I failed to modify the replicator jobs on the older
system so it was using the old source location instead of the new shared
location.

here is the current subscriber total to this list. Not counting the mail

Blind computing now has 398 subscribers. I'm glad there is a lot of

The most important thing is that things remain orderly on here which as a

I have spoke to some users of 64bit machines, using windows mail, and they
can't create message rules, nothing seems to get selected even though the
spacebar is pressed on specific message filter criteria.

Hi List!

I am using Win 7 with Windows Mail and it sure is better than Outlook
2010 or Win Live Mail. Only problem is that I can't seem to make a
message rule. One starts out by having to pick a criteria and the one I
want to use is where to from lines contains people but I can't seem to
get it checked. I've tried pressing the space bar, the enter key on both
the regular keyboard and the number pad as well as trying to press alt+c
as suggested. None of that seems to work. I just get silence and, if I
try to continue, I am told I have to pick a criteria before going on.
Any thoughts?

Whoever told her she could not get O E with w7 is correct. It's no
longer entegraded into the OS. The best she could do is Windows Live
Mail, or she could get Thunderbird, or Outlook from MS Office, but
that is the best she could do.

There are ways out there that are written to hack the OS and get OE,
but trust me, they'll crash the system. I know as I tried that stunt
on a friend's pc and darn near killed the thing.
