Re: mudding on the mac
for the most part, irc and mac with voiceover isn't very good either. I have had some success with Xchat aqua and voiceover using growl, but join more than one chan or be in a busy chan and forget it. too much noise and no intelligibility. I have yet to find a way to get growl to use a faster read speed than the slow setting. I have alex (the main voice) set to over 300 wpm but using growl, it sits at a paltry 75 wpm. far too slow for my needs. -Eric On Dec 9, 2010, at 2:45 AM, Ruud Bemelmans wrote: I tested Savitar, but didn't get far at all. That would be louis. The only drawback is that you need a serial or bluetooth embosser. USB and network are not supported, and since there are no serial ports on current macs and there aren't that many bluetooth enabled embossers, you have to get a little creative. Re: Dropbox.
Hi, there should be a dropbox folder in your home folder. Simply copy the file and paste it into your dropbox folder. If you want to make the file public, place it in /home/dropbox/public. Then you can press control option shift m on the file in your public folder and bring up the context menu. Arrow down to dropbox, and press right arrow. Arrow down to copy public link and press enter. Then you can paste the public link anywhere you like. So, on the same page as the Mac download, the following info appears for the Accessible world auditorium room. Here is the info that you need to connect using our TC Conference for MAC: Server: 74.208.96.53 Username: enter your name Password: enter your password (if available) Room ID: rs5affc3cfa191 Also, I had to restart the Mac, or restart the program, I don't recall which, but it's probably a good idea just to be safe and restart the computer, and then, the program was able to log into the room just fine. Re: European Carriers Claim Apple Should Pay for Network Infrastructure
I don't think this is such a bad idea, because it keeps reinforcing the industry. If Apple, google and other companies that produce smart phones want to keep up the current success of said phones, then investing in the networks will eventually result in an even bigger success rates. If the carriers can't maintain the network, the sale of smart phones will dwindle and the carriers as well as the smart phone producers will have a bad time all around. The big question however is, if this goes through, how much extra costs will that generate for the customers? But to be fair, that's always the question with changes in various industries. Re: mudding on the mac
I also tried mud walker and telnet today, just because it would be nice to not be tied to windows for mudding. Mud walker had all buttons and menus accessible, but at one point it just kept giving me mud walker busy, busy, busy, which got annoying rather quickly. Telnet connected at least and told me some stuff, but it didn't scroll on properly, which wasn't super, but at least it gave me more to work with than Savitar and Mud walker. I haven't messed with options in telnet, so that might be something to look into. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Peoples thoughts on adress panel!
I love the idea of having a shortcut to be able to add names to the to, cc, or bcc fields while in the address panel. It's a real time-saver when you are adding many names, and of course, it's been available in Windows outlook and outlook express forever. If folks concur, I hope you will write Apple and tell them. burning DVD's on the Mac
Okay, I am convenced that Simply Burns rules for CD burning; but, what about burning DVD's. Let's say I've got some videos I make and I want to burn them on to a DVD which will play in my DVD player. What APP would I use to do this? IF I wanted to make multiple copies of a CD using Simply Burns, is this possible? I'm guessing that the copy one feature will not allow this. Thanks. Re: Dropbox.
Hi, that's a focus issue. Sometimes it works, and other times you have to interact right down to the file name, rout the mouse with control option command f5 and then either press control option shift M or control mouse button. For some reason I have had really bad focus problems in that folder, but it only applies to that folder as far as I can tell. Hope this helps. Maximizing Windows?
I was working with my wife who is fully sighted. I was trying to get her to visually describe some images on a site. She was continuously frustrated because, Finder was covering up most of the web sites window. She couldn't figure out what to do about that. Meanwhile, VO was performing just fine and I had no problems reading the page. So, is there a way to maximize the safari window. I have been through the Safari menus and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this from the keyboard. I am obviously missing something. Also, on a related note. Has anyone experienced having windows or dialogues opened that VO doesn't acknowledge. My wife was telling me about a dialogue that was up for force quitting an application. I had done that a few days ago, and, the application did close. However, apparently, the dialogue was still lingering. Re: Handbreak and backing up a Disney Movie
I can't say how it is to burn the DVD, Up, but I've noticed that some Disney movies have a sort of protection against burning them to the computer. Disney has a funny way of dealing with burning dvd's to the computer. When using handbreak, you can choose between a bunch of different titles to have as the source. Disney basically makes a bunch of dummy files that look like they might be the actual movie, but are just jumbled files. What you'll want to do is find out the title by playing the dvd in the default DVD player. When the movie is playing, go to the go menu and scroll down to the title sub menu. the correct title to use in handbreak will be checked. If you select the wrong title, the dvd will import out of order. Hope that helps some, Justin On Dec 9, 2010, at 8:03 PM, patricia solis wrote: Hello all, I'm trying to back up the Disney movie called UP and i can't. Normally Snow Leopard can extract zip files out of the box. Just set your cursor on it and press CMD + O or VO + Space. Do you get an error message? Then you've got an unzipped folder with the music. From there you can import the files to iTunes. For recording Skyp calls and many other things you can use Audio Hijack Pro: www.rogueamoeba.com Regards Jürgen Am 05.12.2010 um 23:21 schrieb Ezzy Bueno: Hi all, How exactly do I extract music from a zipped folder and get it to iTunes? Re: Handbreak and backing up a Disney Movie
I can't say how it is to burn the DVD, Up, but I've noticed that some Disney movies have a sort of protection against burning them to the computer. Disney has a funny way of dealing with burning dvd's to the computer. When using handbreak, you can choose between a bunch of different titles to have as the source. Disney basically makes a bunch of dummy fiWhat you'll want to do is find out the title by playing the dvd in the default DVD player. When the movie is playing, go to the go menu and scroll down to the title sub menu. the correct title to use in handbreak will be checked. If you select the wrong title, the dvd will import out of order. On Dec 9, 2010, at 8:03 PM, patricia solis wrote: Hello all, I'm trying to back up the Disney movie called UP and i can't. In the past i have backed up other movies that are not Disney and have always worked and love it. MY question is it possible to burn Disney movies or if not . What else can i use that will be accessible with voice over? Thanks in advance Patricia -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group.
