Hey barefoot Ray, I see from your signature that you use Verizon Wireless. On a
completely unrelated note have you ever used any of the hotspot devices like
the jet pack or the Orvick speed hotspot devices? Just a longshot but I thought
I’d ask. I’m trying to find out about their accessibility and useability for

Re: signature in mail question

2022-05-26 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

You’ll need to use the old fashioned drag & drop method. That is,

• select the All Signatures from the Signatures table.
• stop interacting with the All Signatures table, then navigate to the Names
table and interact with it.
• navigate to the signature you wish to use.
• press VO-cmd-f5 to route the mouse to the VO cursor.
• turn off Cursor Tracking with VO-shift-f3.
• start the drag action by invoking mouse-down with VO-cmd-shift-space.
• stop interacting with the Names table and navigate over to the All Signatures
table.
• interact with it and navigate to the desired account.
• press VO-cmd-f5 to route the mouse to the VO Cursor.
•start the drop action by invoking the mouse-up action with VO-cmd-shift-space.
• turn Cursor Tracking back on with VO-shift-f3.

That should do it.

Later…

Re: signature in mail question

2022-05-26 Thread Raymond Foret Jr
Unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten how to do it. I did turn cursor
tracking off, but, nothing I tried there after worked.

I may have to re-create the account again anyway. The need for a password to
login to the SMTP side keeps turning off. And so Comcast keeps rejecting my
attempts to send email. I’m going to add SMTP, but, somehow, the way enter a
password and check that as the means of authentication, it does not seem to
help. Either my Mac is just getting too old, or my memory is on how to set this
up correctly. Sho Should I do it through Mail? Or use Internet accounts?

Also, I have had to delete my iCloud account from my Mac because somehow, every
time I go to try to create just the mail account, Internet accounts keeps
telling me that the account already exists when I know that it doesn’t because
I had to delete it. Sorry for all the jumbled and confusion, but, that’s just
how things are for me right now.

Sincerely:
The constantly barefooted Ray

Re: Apple Mail Question

2022-01-28 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
I was going to suggest using a voiceOver search or the item chooser to find any
collapsed item in the mailbox list, but I can't get this to work on my system
running MacOS 12.2. Anybody out there running MacOS 12.1 who can test?

1. press VO-J until in the Mailbox list.
2. press VO-I tobring up item chooser.
3. type cloud

When I did this, I expected to find my iCloud folder, but only found messages.
Strange.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Apple Mail Question

2022-01-27 Thread Brad Snyder
I don’t use iCloud mail, but I have several other mail accounts enabled, so the
following should work the same when iCloud mail is one of the enabled accounts,
assuming you are using the stock Apple Mail app on your Mac:

When you are in the Mailbox List table, make sure you interact with the table,
so you can navigate to the group headings.
You should be able to find the heading for Favorites, and you can press VO +
Spacebar to either expand or collapse the group.
Once expanded, you should be able to locate the All Trash item.
Once the All Trash item has been located, you can once again use VO + Spacebar,
to expand the item, and this should reveal the individual Trash boxes for each
account you have enabled.

Alternatively, you should be able to navigate to the heading for each of your
enabled mail accounts, and then use VO + Spacebar, to make sure that account is
expanded.
Now, you should be able to navigate and locate the Trash box for each of your
enabled mail accounts in your Apple Mail app.

HTH.

Yes, it sounds like your student has Column View enabled, and you do not.
Actually, I much prefer Column View, but that is an individual choice.

Column View can be enabled/disabled by going to the Menu Bar > View, and
pressing the Down Arrow until you get to Column View. Now press the Enter key
to either select (check) or deselect (uncheck) as you prefer.

As Herbie stated, make sure that your student has QuickNav turned off, or uses
the VO modifier when navigating, after interacting with the Mailbox contents
table.
Note: With QuickNav turned off, the Mailbox contents table may be navigated
without interacting with the table. The same is true for the Mailbox list.

HTH.

Re: A basic Mail question

2021-05-26 Thread Brad Snyder
I can’t get this one to work.
When I have interacted with the Mailbox table, this command moves one item at a
time.
When I have not interacted with the Mailbox table, this command does nothing.

I am using Apple Mail on my Mac mini running Big Sur 11.4.
I have my VO modifier set to be CMD + OPT

Try using OPT + UpArrow, to go to the top of a mailbox list, and OPT +

ONE MORE IPAD MAIL QUESTION

2019-07-16 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi again, all,

I probably will give Outlook a try, but in the meantime, I have one more iPad
mail question. I am noticing that frequently the message that is displayed is
not the same is the one that Voiceover reports as being selected. Anyone know
why this would happen, and if there’s a way to fix it?
TIA,
Donna

Re: A Mail Question.

2017-11-14 Thread Eileen Scrivani
Jonathan,

Thanks. I have verizon, but not using Yahoo for mail processing. I use the mail
app that comes on the Iphone and on my Mac book I again am using the Apple
supplied Mail app.

On my IPhone 6, the edit button is still at the top right corner of the screen,
but the delete button does not indicate “all”. Delete just deletes one message
at a time. I used to be able to open a message, then place one finger on
delete, leave it there and then with a second finger just keep tapping on the
delete button as I would rapidly delete one message after another.

It no longer works the way it used to with the last two plus releases of IOS.

I remember being able to do this in IOS 8 by clicking the edit button and then
immediately going down to the delete button which then said trash all. I don't
believe there is a way to clear an entire mailbox in IOS 10 mail application.
Since you have a verizon.net address, I assume you are using Yahoo mail… In
this case you might be able to find a yahoo mail app or perhaps even the google
mail app and do the deletion from there.

clear out the entire inbox. I need a pain-free way of getting rid of them.

  Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Subject: A Mail Question.

Hello All,

Does any one know of a way to select all messages in the inbox and do a mass
delete? I have accumulated a ton of messages on my phone and I simply want to
clear out the entire inbox. I need a pain-free way of getting rid of them.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I just use option=up for top or option=down for bottom. If that doesn't work,
be sure you've stopped interacting with the messages table and try again.

Re: Apple Mail question.

2013-06-15 Thread Nicholas Parsons
Hi,

I think the problem is that you've got so many messages and it will take a long
time for Mail to scan your messages and apply the rules. I've done this before
with a few thousand messages and I too thought nothing was hapenning for a long
time. I can't imagine what it would be like with 48 thousand. So, my advice,
after you try applying rules, press command-option-0 to view Mail activity.
Take a look and see if Mail is doing anything. If it is, then just give it
time. If not, then let us know and maybe someone will have more ideas.

Re: Apple Mail question.

2013-06-15 Thread Danny Noonan
Thanks muchly for the tips. I didn't know the mail activity hotkey. That's
great to have.

I decided I had to trim the monster mailbox down to give mail a chance to be
able to function at all so I've been experimenting with folder searches saved
into smart folders where I can delete or move as required and it seems to be
helping. I've gotten rid of 3 or 4 thousand so far but have a long way to go.
turns out it was still downloading and there were 65000 messages when it had
finished.. I'm frankly amazed mail can function at all with this. Windows would
have pooped itself to death way before this. smile.

Thanks again.

Danny.

Re: configuring apple apple mail question

2012-08-28 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

You can also just press enter on the messages to open them. I honestly see no
real difference between pressing command W, and pressing VO J. Your actually
pressing 2 fewer keys to read a message, and 1 fewer key to close the message
and go back to your messages table.

One thing to keep in mind here is that this will not work if you get rid of the
preview pane. The up side is that you can arrow past messages without having
them automatically be marked as read; the down side is that you will have to
open them with cmd-o and close them with cmd-w (enter seems to work to open as
well) and cannot delete right from the text. It's a trade-off however you slice
it.
About the sorting of columns: I don't know, but if you get an answer, please
share it with the list as I'd love to re-order a few things.

the next message to display will be above the one you just deleted. If you
previously pressed down arrow, the next message you see will be below the one
 you just deleted.
 Good luck.

That's what I do. You don't have to go by character though, just by
line or whatever until you get close, then by word until the vo cursor
is focused somewhere on the link text. Vo-shift-m, open url, enter,
and there you go.

Re: Previous Recipiants Mail Question

2012-04-14 Thread Teresa Cochran
I think of the previous recipients list as a sort of holding tank of addresses
that have been dealt with in mail. You can then take these and put them in your
address book or delete them. I actually like this feature. When I used to use
Outlook Express in windows, I was a little annoyed to find every single address
I'd replied to in my address book. I don't necessarily want every address in
there.

to the field you want. Also I like to interact with the messages table and vo
right to the subject field. Then I vo down and hear just subjects messages. Not
quite what you were asking for but hope this helps.

Take care,

Switching from 1 inbox to an other in lion mail question

2011-09-22 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

Thanks for your great tips in my first steps on the mac. Here I go again with
an other one:
Is there a way to quickly go to the list of mailboxes to switch between them? I
can error around with vo and find the table if the list of mailboxes is showing
and I suppose could set a hotspot but did not want to rediscover the wheel. :)

Thanks,

Hi Ioana.
I have lost my mailboxes more than once, and at first, got real frustrated.
Lately, I have been either going to the menu and calling up Favorite Mailboxes.
But when I finally remembered the command, I can press command-1 to go to the
Inbox. So far it looks like if I can get my inbox to show the others show. Hope
this helps.

Garth,

When you go to mail boxes does it show there as one of the options or not?
If it does, it could be you just have your gmail inbox chosen, so it will only
show your gmail messages.
You have to choose the higher level inbox to show messages from both.
But, if it does not show, then they are other possibilities.

Re: Mac Mail Question

2011-09-05 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Linda,

If you have 2 mailboxes and you want to easily switch between them, here's how
to do it. If you need more help, let me know.

First, you will want to have both mailboxes in your favorites bar. You can do
this using the new drag and drop procedure in voice over. First, look where the
favorites bar is. Interact with it, and find your way around, so that you later
know where to paste your second mailbox. If you see checkboxes in the favorites
bar, don't worry about them. For this task, they are not important.

If your first mailbox is already in the favorites bar, but your second mailbox
isn't yet, then you will have to drag the second mailbox from the mailboxes
table, over to the favorites bar. The reason you will want both mailboxes to be
in the favorites bar is, that you will later be able to use command plus the
number 1 to get into the first mailbox, and command plus 2 to get into your
second mailbox, as displayed in the favorites bar. Which mailbox will open if
you press command 1 or command 2, depends on the order in which the mailboxes
appear on the favorites bar. So if, for example, your private email account is
first on the favorites bar, and your, say, gmail account is second, then
command 1 wil open your private inbox and command 2 your gmail.
Opening a new mail window etc, like you described, is then no longer necessary.

To drag the second mailbox over to the favorites bar, go to the mailboxes table
and interact with it, put the voiceover cursor on the mailbox you want to drag,
then press v o comma there. This will tell voice over that this is the item you
want to drag elsewhere. Now, move over to the favorites bar and interact with
it, put the v o cursor on the spot just to the right of your first mailbox that
was already there, and then drop the second mailbox using v o plus period. This
will start the drag operation. You will here a mouse down sound, then some soft
whooshes while it's dragging, then a mouse up click, and the second mailbox is
in the favorites bar. Now, the work should be done, if I'm not forgetting
something. It is somewhat more work to get rid of a certain mailbox in the
favorites bar, once you accidentally dragged the wrong one over, so be careful
that you pick the correct mailbox, that you called, your second mailbox.

From now on, if you press command plus 1, your private email should be
displayed. Command 2 gives you your other account. You will have to interact
again after switching mailboxes this way, but it is fast and convenient to do
it this way.

Hello,

I've just tried to do this. This is what I did.

I vo+left arrow to the message header area. I then interacted with it. Once you
interact, I moved with vo+right once and landed on details link. Voiceover
actually says here link. I pressed vo+spacebar on this link. This resulted in
being able to see the senders address. I then routed my mouse cursor to vo with
vo+command+f5 and performed mouse click with vo+shift+spacebar. This opened a
menu for me which gives you a choice of replying to sender or adding the
sender's details to your address book. Hope this helps.

Hello carlene,

This still works, you just have to do a few extra steps:
1) Open the message with enter.
2) VO left arrow to move to the message headers group.
3) Interact with the message headers group.
4) VO right arrow to the link that reads details or hide. If it's
details, VO space on it.
5) VO left arrow to message headers text.
6) Interact with it.

And that's it, you're in a headers section very similar to the Snow Leopard
one.

Note however, that you can only move around with VO arrow keys, while in SL you
could do it simply with the arrow keys.

Hi All!
Well I'm back in black on my Mac!
So how to stop the spell check before sending!
1] open vo+shift+m and go to the spell check sub menu!
2 the first item should be hide spell check, vo+space on it!
3] you'll be back in the message!
And you can go through it to check the words you want!
4] to continue open vo+shift+m and go to check document now and vo+space on
that and you'll go through the rest of the message and change any other mis
spelled words!
And as normal when you've finished it will send the message!

Sorry I've been out of the loop!

So when you are at a word to check and you do not want it to send!
Open vo+shift+m and in there is a option to close spell check or some wording
like that!
It is there I've used it!

Re: Spellchecker and mail question

2011-05-01 Thread Robert Nelson
Dear Sarai,

I was able to confirm your experience with the inability of being able to close
the Spell Check Window without having the message being sent.

If you change the settings in the Mail Preferences window, under the compose
pane, you should be able to cure the problem. there are three selections in
the pop up spell check window. One is Never. the second is While typing.
The third isUpon pressing the send button. If you change the spell check
to either Never or While Typing you will be able to close the window by
either command-w or VO-ESCAPE..

Once you do that you may bring the Spell check back up by pressing
SHIFT-COMMAND-SEMICOLON or if the misspelled word is selected,

I hope this helps.

Sincerely Yours,
robert Nelson
you may use the shortcut menu VO-SHIFT-M.

Re: Spellchecker and mail question

2011-05-01 Thread Zachary Kline
I believe this is the way Mail is supposed to work. I personally use
cmd-semi-colon to do my spell checking before I send a message. It isn't as
full-featured as the dialog, but it gets the job done. You could use cmd-colon
just as easily.
Best,
Zack.

Re: ipad and mail question again

2011-04-04 Thread Bryan Jones
Hi Denise,

Apple and some other developers have written some Apps such as Mail to present
things a little differently on the iPad than on the iPhone or iTouch. One of
the differences is the use of popup windows on the iPad. These popup windows
present lists of choices and other information that might not currently be
displayed on the screen. They are sort of like menus in the Mac OS or Windows.
When you open a popup it covers part of the current screen and blocks access to
whatever part of the screen it happens to be covering. To use the Mail App as
an example, If I am holding the ipad in landscape mode with home button to the
right and the mail app open, I will normally have two columns, the left column
containing the list of mailboxes or messages, and the right column containing
the body of the currently selected mail message. If I change the orientation of
the iPad to portrait with home button at the bottom, I will now have just one
column and it contains the body of the current mail message. In portrait mode,
if I want to navigate mailboxes or messages I can double-tap the top left
button and this will open a popup window over top of part of the current mail
message. I can then navigate the list of mailboxes and / or messages in that
popup window and when I've found what I want I can double-tap outside of the
popup window to close it or, to use Apple's term, dismiss popup.. This is
just one small example of the use of popup windows on the ipad, but hopefully
it gives you a better understanding.

Regarding the issue of VO telling you a web page is loading, when and where is
this happening? If it's within a mail message, my initial thought is that
perhaps this would be caused if mail is set to load images automatically. You
might try turning off that feature by going to Settings / Mail, Contacts,
Calendar / Load Remote Images and toggling it off.

open safari on my ipad yet.

In IOS 4.3 any time you open a mail message that has an attachment it says web
page loaded. This includes messages that are html.
