I am elated to report that 10.12.2 is now installed, and iTunes, Pages, and
Numbers appear to finally be properly updating. Thank you all for your
suggestions; Simon, your reinstall in Recovery mode did the trick. :) Christine

Christine,

Sounds like it's being less than cooperative for you. How about we
try to download the entire Sierra installer from the AppStore then.
When in the AppStore on your Mac, press cmd-4 to bring focus to your
purchases. Sign in if needed. There should be a table with your list
of purchases. Interact with it and see if Sierra is in there. If it
is, then to the far right of that row should be an Install or Download
button, press it. If for some reason, Sierra is not in your list of
purchases, press cmd-f and enter Sierra in the resulting field, then
press return. MacOS Sierra should be your first result in the Search
Results. Locate the Install button within the info for MacOS Sierra
and press it. If it says that you already have Sierra, press the "So
What" button, oops, I mean the Continue button. If the download
progress is not available in this screen, press cmd-4 again to bring

you should find the download progress in there.

See if you have any more success this way.

Christine,
What may work is to find all occurrences of the install file and
trash it then empty the trash. Then download a fresh copy.

RE: On the brink of insanity trying to update OS 10.12.2

2016-12-17 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Kristine,

Have you tried the update / reinstall using the recovery console to get the
installer?

To do this shut the machine down and then hold command R during start up and
make sure you hold the keys down for approx. 30 seconds,

It doesn't have to be that long but I just like to be sure it goes to the
correct place.

Then give it a minute or so for the machine to start up and then switch on
voiceover and pick the install OS X option from the utilities menu and then
follow the prompts
Let us know how that works for you.

Good luck.

Scott,

Christine did say 10.12.2, so I'd assume that it's the MacOS that is causing
the frustration. It sounds to me that the Installer log is confused. There
are ways of editing the log, but it would probably be much easier simply to
find the stand-alone installer for 10.12.2 on Apple's site. Download it, then
run that installer to update your system. If you have problems, let us know.

Re: On the brink of insanity trying to update OS 10.12.2

2016-12-17 Thread Tim Kilburn
Christine,

Sounds like it's being less than cooperative for you. How about we try to
download the entire Sierra installer from the AppStore then. When in the
AppStore on your Mac, press cmd-4 to bring focus to your purchases. Sign in if
needed. There should be a table with your list of purchases. Interact with it
and see if Sierra is in there. If it is, then to the far right of that row
should be an Install or Download button, press it. If for some reason, Sierra
is not in your list of purchases, press cmd-f and enter Sierra in the resulting
field, then press return. MacOS Sierra should be your first result in the
Search Results. Locate the Install button within the info for MacOS Sierra and
press it. If it says that you already have Sierra, press the "So What" button,
oops, I mean the Continue button. If the download progress is not available in
this screen, press cmd-4 again to bring up the Purchases scree and interact
with the Other Purchases table, you should find the download progress in there.

See if you have any more success this way.

HTH.

Tim, you’re absolutely right, that was my fault entirely. I heard the 10 and
the 2 and thought I heard IOS. Totally wrong on my part.

I’ll be glad to grab the installer if the original poster can’t find it.

Re: On the brink of insanity trying to update OS 10.12.2

2016-12-17 Thread Tim Kilburn

Later..

on it’s own and it can take several minutes where the phone seems dead. Just
leave it alone once it starts to install and be sure you’re plugged in.

Hope that helps.

2016-12-17 Thread Scott Granados
You do not update the IOS through the App Store.

You go to settings, general, software update and then click install. YOu’ll.be
prompted for you pin, enter your pin and then wait a while, the
file will download and you’ll click install. All will complete at that point
on it’s own and it can take several minutes where the phone seems dead. Just
leave it alone once it starts to install and be sure you’re plugged in.

Hope that helps.
