This fixes my example, and makes (to me) better sense according to the
semantics of the \insert... commands: theafter argument to
\insertorg gets passed down to theafter of \insertcity rather than
spliced into thebefore. It's also closer to the definition of
\insertpublisher immediately preceding it in the file.

I hope that this can be integrated into the next beta, if it doesn't
turn out to be a horrendous mistake...

[NTG-context] Fonts in ConTeXt is now available from boekplan.com

2011-02-28 Thread Taco Hoekwater

After some delays, thankfully the book Fonts in ConTeXt is now
finally available for immediate ordering.

Fonts in ConTeXt describes how to define and use fonts in ConTeXt
MkIV. In this book, for the first time all existing documentation
related to fonts has been combined into a single document. In 128
pages, the reader is guided through everything there is to know about
fonts in ConTeXt MkIV. The earlier chapters deal with the theory behind
the font subsystem of ConTeXt and explain how to use the font switching
macros. The later chapters deal with defining fonts, for both single
(symbolic) fonts and complete typescripts for font families. Finally,
there are chapters on extending the ConTeXT font system and font
installation.

Fonts in ConTeXt costs 19 euro + pp, and can be ordered from

  http://www.boekplan.com/

Hans and I have decided that there will not be a free PDF version;
ordering a hardcopy is the only way to get this book. Please note
that besides receiving a useful book, you will also be sponsoring
ConTeXt development by doing so!

In text parts this is known as kerning. In OpenType math there are

I would call it a bug. The spacing is OK with cambria, but not with xits.

Because Cambria implements math kerning that Mojca is referring too,
XITS don't (and will not in the near future unless someone steps to

[NTG-context] problems with bib

2011-02-28 Thread Stefan Müller

Hi list,

until now I used the bib module for my bibliography in a rather large
document in MkIV by calling \usemodule[bib].

Today I updated to version 2011.02.25 22:03 and the document does no
longer compile. I removed the above line from my document and it ran
again, but the References section was empty and I got [[error 1]]
everywhere I used \cite. So I changed \completepublications to
\completepublications[criterium=all]. Now I have the complete list of
references (I know, I asked for it) but instead I only want to have
those references in the list that I cited in the document.

Some questions:
(1) Is the bib module obsolete? If so, can someone provide me with a
small example how to properly make bibliographies now, preferably from a
.bib-file?

(2) If this is not already answered by the first question: How do I get
the references list to display only the cited entries from my
bibliography, [criterium=?]?

(3) What do I have to do to let context find the sample.bib database? I
get I couldn't open database file sample.bib.bib or I couldn't open
database file sample.bib in the output depending on whether I added
.bib or not.

My current setup is this:
%\usemodule[bib]
\setupbibtex[database={mybibdatabase.bib}]
\setuppublications[alternative=ams, refcommand=num]
\setupcite[num][lastpubsep={, }]
\setupcite[author][left=, right=]
...
\completepublications[criterium=all]

Any help appreciated,
Stefan

2011-02-28 Thread Mojca Miklavec
 Some time ago I was wondering if there's something like
 kerning in math mode, too. Does that mean it would work if I switch to
 cambria math fonts?

It would at least work better for cases such as different spacing
between letter F, Y or X and comma (where F and Y leave too much empty
space).

It would not effect \hairspace (this might be a bug, but I didn't
test) and it would not effect space *after* comma (unless maybe for
Y). Autospacing for commas is a different issue, but Cambria could
solve bad kerning.

Hi,

I think it could be useful to be able to reuse the label text setups
elsewhere, too.

I have for example

\definereferenceformat[inexp][label=example]
\setuplabeltext[en][example=example~]

in one of my documents. Why not specify this label when defining an
enumeration example:

\defineenumeration[example][label=example]

This way I could easily use several languages in parallel with one
setup. The first letter should probably be capitalized in the
enumeration label...

Re: [NTG-context] problems with bib

2011-02-28 Thread Curiouslearn
I had the same problem a few months back (the bibliography includes
all references not only the ones I have cited in my document)

I still have this problem. I think Thomas Schmitz is going to fix
this. Any ideas on when this is going to be fixed? Can I request that
this be fixed soon as it is important for writing papers that need to
be circulated to others.

Thanks in advance.

Bharat

 Hi list,

 until now I used the bib module for my bibliography in a rather large
 document in MkIV by calling \usemodule[bib].

 Today I updated to version 2011.02.25 22:03 and the document does no longer
 compile. I removed the above line from my document and it ran again, but the
 References section was empty and I got [[error 1]] everywhere I used
 \cite. So I changed \completepublications to
 \completepublications[criterium=all]. Now I have the complete list of
 references (I know, I asked for it) but instead I only want to have those
 references in the list that I cited in the document.

 Some questions:
 (1) Is the bib module obsolete? If so, can someone provide me with a small
 example how to properly make bibliographies now, preferably from a
 .bib-file?

 (2) If this is not already answered by the first question: How do I get the
 references list to display only the cited entries from my bibliography,
 [criterium=?]?

 (3) What do I have to do to let context find the sample.bib database? I get
 I couldn't open database file sample.bib.bib or I couldn't open database
 file sample.bib in the output depending on whether I added .bib or not.

 My current setup is this:
 %\usemodule[bib]
 \setupbibtex[database={mybibdatabase.bib}]
 \setuppublications[alternative=ams, refcommand=num]
 \setupcite[num][lastpubsep={, }]
 \setupcite[author][left=, right=]
 ...
 \completepublications[criterium=all]

 Any help appreciated,
 Stefan

 I just learned that some of those labels are, in fact, reused. That caused

 Is there a list or something which labels alexist and what values they have?

Only the source files, mkii gets the labels from the lang-xxx.mkii files
and mkiv from lang-lab.lua. What you can do is to list them on the wiki.

Hi Bharat and all,

1. No, that's not right. I simply collected outstanding
issues, I can't fix them.

2. Hans is working on bib issues as we speak, but he has
only so much time, so no ETA.

3. For the problem described above, try

\usepublications[criterium=text]

Bib support is an extremely complex area, so be aware that
we're still experimenting and things are moving. Having as
many testers as possible with many different requirements
helps a lot finding and identifying errors.

2011-02-28 Thread Curiouslearn
Thank you, Thomas. Using

 \usepublications[criterium=text]

fixed the problem of all citations. However, the names in bibliography
do not appear in alphabetical order. I will look through the thread to
see any solutions to that.

Thanks again. Appreciate your help.

[NTG-context] Labels, offsetting the layout...

2011-02-28 Thread Willi Egger
Hi all,

I should prepare a couple of sticky-labels. The label-sheet however has a top
margin of 21 mm as also a bottom margin of 21 mm. At the left and right side
there is a margin of 8 mm.

The size of the label is 42.3 x 97mm. There are 16 such labels on each sheet.

In order to get the prints correct I wanted to move the layout 8 mm to the
right and 21 mm down... I had no success to complete this.

Could someone enlighten me what I am doing wrong?

Willi

I have the following setup for testing:

\definepapersize[Label][height=42.3mm,width=97mm]
\definepapersize[Mypaper][A4]
\setuppapersize[Label][Mypaper]
\setuppaper
[paper=Mypaper,
topspace=21mm,
backspace=8mm,
dx=2mm,
dy=0mm,
nx=2,
ny=6,
margin=0pt,
width=194mm,
height=255mm,
location=middle]
\setuplayout
[page=Label,
topspace=4mm,
backspace=5mm,
margin=0mm,
width=87mm,
height=34.3mm,
header=0mm,
footer=0mm]

\definelayer[Label][width=\paperwidth, height=\paperheight]
\setuparranging[XY]

\starttext
\dorecurse{12}
  {\setlayerframed
 [Label]
 [preset=leftbottom,y=.9cm,x=0mm]
 [frame=off, style=\tfx]
 {NTG-secretary}
\startstandardmakeup
   \placelayer[Label]\page
\stopstandardmakeup}
\stoptext

I'm not sure where to put this command and how to adapt other commands.
But \completepublications[criterium=text] works for me. So that's okay

Re: [NTG-context] Fonts in ConTeXt is now available from boekplan.com

2011-02-28 Thread Miguel Queiros

 After some delays, thankfully the book Fonts in ConTeXt is now
 finally available for immediate ordering.

[...]

 Hans and I have decided that there will not be a free PDF version;
 ordering a hardcopy is the only way to get this book. Please note
 that besides receiving a useful book, you will also be sponsoring
 ConTeXt development by doing so!

I've just ordered one. Great way of sponsoring ConTeXt.

Will be ordering also Layouts in ConTeXt as soon as it gets
available!
