FS Friday Whole lot of lenses
Hello group, While you can never have too many lenses, I am guilty of maybe collecting more than I can use in my limited time for photography. Many of these are pretty good or hard to find so it is a shame to have them just sitting around. It is time to thin out the group and instead of just listing the lenses I am not making a lot of use of, I though I would list all of them to see which are easier to part with. I was not planning on switching systems, but the D800 is very tempting and if I get offers on most of these lenses I might have enough to be tempted towards the dark side. I also listed the cameras to see if there is any interest. I will probably hold onto one camera and a few lenses. I rather deal with PDMLer than list on eBay. My asking prices are all 25% or more less than several online stores for similar condition items. I think they are attractive prices but would be willing to consider fair offers. I also tried to be conservative on condition. Glass is clean and all functions work unless noted below. I would be happy to accept returns on items you think the condition does not meet my description. Photos of the items, and/or taken with the items are available on request. There is just too much listed to shoot everything if there is no interest. Shipping to US address @$15 per order. Internationals to pay actual cost. If I were in the market, that 1.4x Sigma TC would be nice ... But what I'm looking for now is a good price on one FA35/2. Better than half the time when I read something like this, and it gives me and idea for a handy, inexpensive gadget, I can find several of them for sale on the web. To my surprise, I can't easily find any waist level viewfinders that mount in a hot shoe. With slide in frames, or even lines on the mirror marking various angles of view, it's something you could make out of a piece of molded plastic and a mirror and sell for $10 or less. They would have been a bit problematic on manual focus SLRs, but you could have gotten by just guessing the distance and setting focus by the scale. On auto focus (d)SLRs they could be rather handy for discreet event or street photography, and for something like the K-01 they could be really handy. The old right angle viewfinder adapter might work. Might have to search a bit to find a new one, but they're probably available used. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/41121-REG/Pentax_30148_Right_Angle_Finder_A.html And the LX had the sports finder which could be rotated into position where it could be used as a waist level finder. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Vow Dan, enthralling capture of of this huge beauty. Did you crop some of this amphibian out? If yes, can you post the full shot. I guess you couldn't have been so close. I have played with these enormous creatures on the beaches of Oman near Sur. They come inland at night in hordes for laying eggs. And the eggs are very rubbery, soft, round and a bit larger than a pin pong ball. No photos though as flash is not allowed. They try to wade back back into the ocean before day break, but they become so weak that we had to push many of them back into the sea. Thanks, Bob. Shooting with a compact camera without a viewfinder is always tricky for me, but doing it underwater, with big clunky buttons that don't always click as quickly as you want them to was a challenge for me. Basically, I held the camera out at arm's length, pointed it at the turtles, and clicked two or three times, hoping something would make it to the sensor. 2012 PDML Annual
I finally got around to going through my work from 2011 to see if anything was worth uploading. Most of what I did last year is portraiture done for school and I didn't think to get model releases. From the rest, I had about 4 images I liked well enough I'd want them to represent me to the rest of the world, but when I really looked at them two were almost duplicates of images I submitted for the 2011 Annual - same subject similar lighting conditions. So, I've got two images uploaded. Oh well. Back to work on 2012. I know there are some collectors lurking on this group, so wanted to make you aware of this sweet bit o' kit. http://www.antiqueauto.org/assets/importedPFpics/Fkit.jpg I've seen a lot of equipment in my day, but never anything as minty as this. If (today) you could step into a Time Machine and go back to the mid-70s, walk into a camera store and purchase a brand new Spotmatic F kit for half price, wouldn't you do it? Well, that's the opportunity right here: I can't bring myself to split this gorgeous kit up, so it is being sold complete (for less than the individual parts are worth). • Genuine Pentax Travel Kit hard case with green foam interior. • Spotmatic F (everything works like new, including metering) • SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 with original cap (flawless) on camera • Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f2.5 with original front and rear caps and matching metal screw-in hood • Original zipper pouch (this is the original part of the travel kit usually missing) • Pentax AF160SA electronic flash (in original box) • 49mm close-up filters set for the 55mm (+1, +2, +4) in case *not pictured • 58mm close-up filter set for the 135mm f2.5 (+1, +2, +4) with case (*case not pictured) • Not part of the kit, but I will include an unopened box of lomography color negative film (3 rolls of 36 exposure) 400 ISO • Original Spotmatic F manual I have a 1976 Pentax Price List and the prices of the Spotmatic F body and the two lenses alone would have been $600 in 1976. (With inflation, that would be the equivalent of $2272 in 2010 dollars !) Priced to sell kit: $299 plus actual shipping, as I have another purchase to pay for (as usual... LBA is such a harsh mistress). Will be happy to ship worldwide, including to our friends in the Southern Hemisphere. More pics of individual items in the kit available, on request. Re: Non-PESO - Underwater Nature Shot
Thanks, Bob, Frank and Ann. It was indeed an adventure. Too bad I couldn't take one of my Pentax cameras into the water. This large green sea turtle rose up from underneath me while I was snorkeling, and really was that close. Here is one of the image showing an entire turtle: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=15186694 After snorkeling on Molokini, a tiny semi-submerged volcanic crater off the West coast of Maui, we went to a reef known for many turtles. There were dozens who surfaced over a period of about 30 minutes. I was able to swim up and behind several of them and obtain a few images, using a Sea Life underwater compact digital camera. My gallery of turtle photos from that dive are here: http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=1026664 Thanks for looking and for you kind comments. They are a sight to behold in the moonlight - better than the seven wonders of the world.
