Re: OT: One for the computer boffins
Those files should be automatically deleted. I'm not sure why that's not happening. However if you open a command window in the directory, (folder), containing the temp files and issue the command delete "*.temp" or whatever the actual pattern of the file name is, it should remove the temp files in one step. You may or may not need to put quotes around a file name that might include spaces. I'm not sure how MS has monkeyed with the delete command in Windows 10. You have to know the actual file extension of the file name for this to work, so maybe you should enable "show file extensions for known types". It's probably in "folder options" wherever Microsoft has hidden that in Windows 10. They seem to move that option around from version to version just to keep you on your toes. Of course the command window being a powerful tool, Microsoft want's you to forget it's there. On the other hand I don't use Windows 10, it's much too crippled. Hell, Windows 7 is too crippled. Pentax waterproof camera
I am looking to buy a friend a waterproof camera for water sports, including surfing, kayaking and snorkeling. Should be able to stay watertight at least 30 feet (10 m) below the surface, but not for heavy duty scuba diving. Is there a Pentax point and shoot that fits these requirements? I have the WG-3 and WG-5. Haven’t used either much underwater, but then I haven’t been underwater that much. If you would like to buy the WG-3 for your friend to evaluate (whatever is a fair price) let me know. The newer models look & act pretty much the same, though with a deeper underwater rating. Re: Pentax waterproof camera
Pentax used to have a whole line of these, but it looks like Ricoh has rebranded them as Ricoh and limited selection to just one model in two colors. https://us.ricoh-imaging.com/index.php/cameras/wg-50 JIS Level 8 seals good to 14 meters. There's a review from shutterbug here. https://www.shutterbug.com/content/ricoh-wg-50-review-rugged-adventure On 12/4/2017 11:48 AM, Daniel J. Re: Pentax waterproof camera
I don't think there's much difference between waterproofness in "inexpensive" cameras Pentax/Ricoh vs Olympus. The build quality will probably be about the same. The only actual underwater camera that I would trust implicitly is the Nikon AW1. Then again it's almost $1000 for the two lens kit. Which is all the underwater lenses Nikon makes for it. On 12/4/2017 3:28 PM, Daniel J. Matyola wrote: Would that be any more of a problem with the Pentax compared with the Olympus? Any info about durability, flexibility and image quality would be appreciated. I had a WG for about four years. Jpg only, reasonable quality output. The usual plethora of farkles common to compacts. Robust except for a clip-on lens shade/macro focusing aid. The big drawback with waterproof cameras is that, sooner or later, the waterproofing will fail. It only needs a bump on one of the doors to disturb the seal when submerged and Fzzt! goes your investment. You might get away with a slight leak in fresh water but salt/pool water will kill it instantly. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions. -- America wasn't founded so that we could all be better. PESO Vanishing points
This is a pic that I shot a couple of weeks back, I escaped into the city with a camera and just shot whatever took my eye. I'm so busy shooting other peoples stuff that I don't get to shoot for myself all that much these days. The shot worked in colour but it's better in B&W I think (apologies to FB users that may have already seen the pic) EXIF top left https://www.dropbox.com/s/bo4xz7gqerjcyna/001_IMGZ03277-HDR_exif.jpg?dl=0 Cheers, -- Rob Studdert (Digital Image Studio) Tel: +61-418-166-870 UTC +10 Hours Gmail, eBay, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Picasa: distudio -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Rob, that's an intriguing photo. Is that a giant cruise ship on the left? If so, what are those protruding caravan like things above the people? Hi Alan, Yes that's an exceedingly large cruise ship, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Explorer_of_the_Seas The awnings are a part of the passenger terminal's public viewing area. OT: Baboon antics
Some of you may enjoy this. Baboons don't like getting their feet wet. Taken from the Letaba River Bridge from which I have shown many photos. The same behaviour is often seen right in front of Letaba camp too. http://www.wildcard.co.za/chacma-baboons-letaba-bridge-crossing-kruger/?utm_source=Wild+Card+HERO+2016&utm_campaign=f8e3830a20-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_12_05&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e0ab6eba3f-f8e3830a20-54989061 Alan C --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
