I noticed I had lost Listen Again last Wednesday and saw that fixes were already being posted. And once again many thanks to everyone, especially bpa and expectingtofly, who have sorted out this debacle. Are you suggesting a plugin that works for some, or even most, but not all users? Plugin developers have strived very hard to avoid such solutions, and as I understand it there are still issues around ffmpeg that haven't been resolved, and so people would still have to tinker in a way that many find too difficult. So please be patient. When people have enough spare free time to work on it, and enough platforms to test on, in and out of the UK, more generic plugin solutions may be forthcoming. We are not representative of the big wide world but we know what we want in our homes/offices/dens and we've found a way to achieve it. Some of us, you Owen, myself and others, have taken it upon ourselves to preach the gospel to friends, colleagues and family who are completely NON-techie. We helped them get started knowing the difficulties and we've taken it upon ourselves to continue helping them as best we can. The BBC has just made that job a helluva lot harder and, as you may have noticed, I have been quite outspoken about that. But you have to face up to the fact that we are a minority sect with some dedicated volunteers who have made Squeezebox into a much better media streaming system than it ever was under Logitech, and the only system weathering the current storm with any aplomb. So you have to decide - do you continue with your unofficial obligations to your colleagues with a system that works, albeit with regular tweaking to cope with a changing world, or advise them to shift towell what exactly? Do you see any alternatives around at the moment that will give them what they're now accustomed to and they will involve you with less hassle or expense?? Because your non-techie pals are more normal than us, they probably already have lots of iThingies. And that's your solution. PasTim wrote: Are you suggesting a plugin that works for some, or even most, but not all users? Plugin developers have strived very hard to avoid such solutions, and as I understand it there are still issues around ffmpeg that haven't been resolved, and so people would still have to tinker in a way that many find too difficult. So please be patient. When people have enough spare free time to work on it, and enough platforms to test on, in and out of the UK, more generic plugin solutions may be forthcoming. It is, however, entirely up to those developers when and if they choose to do such work, not up to us low-skilled users. We should just be grateful they do anything at ll. I envisage an iPlayer plugin update that just gets Listen Again working using RTMP. That appears to be quite simple, and covers a lot of use cases (I've got several people at work that keep asking me when Listen Again is going to be fixed, none of them use play live). I accept that the HLS live problem needs more work, probably quite a lot more work. But that doesn't stop a plugin update to fix Listen Again, everything doesn't have to be fixed at once. Fixing HLS could take months. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Smart Mix plugin
I wonder if someone with SB3s would be able to solve this puzzle: when playing if I use the IR remote on SB3 and go in 'Smart Mix Options', then select any option, such as 'Play more like this song', things do not go as expected. - If I press 'play' on the remote to activate the option displayed, I get Now playing: Nothing, and the music stops. - If I press the right arrow to activate the option (which seems the better way), then the screen goes blank and nothing happens. Music continues. The IR seems unresponsive, and the screen stays blank until SwitchSaver (alternating song title and analog VU every 2 mins or so in my case) restores both screen and IR operations. *This is not specific to Smart Mix plugin*, I've just seen the same trying to use the delicious Music, Walk With Me plugin. I can live without a little graphic on Listen Again. I have a stream I can listen to, and select where in the stream I want to be. That's got us back to where we should be (hugely creditable in the absence of the plugin author), and a significant amount further forward than many internet radio users bearing in mind we were all screwed when the BBC broke it. I realise I'm in a techie minority who is able to follow instructions to do this (as a VB user, without the Vortexbox forum I'd have been knackered though). I love all the metadata, interactive tracklistings etc on the BBC Android app so I can work around getting pretty pictures and the like using my tablet, but for listening live, the high quality 320kbps feeds take precedence on my home system. properjob's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42088 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi I started my trip with LMS by buying a max2play, maybe this question should be asked elsewhere? Anyway here it comes. I found how to sync two players with each other in LMS but it does not seem to work with more than two players, is that correct or am I doing something wrong? If not possible, will the squeeze plugmax2play plug in do the trick? Besides playing from my USB hard drive attached to a max2play device I also use Spotify and it works fine with LMS and max2playl. I tried to play two different songs from Spotify on two different squeezelite players and first I was happy it worked but soon they started to skip tracks in the beginning of the songs. Is this due to the fact that Spotify don't like that you are playing online with two players or is it possible to fix it? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: YouTube Plugin
berrange wrote: Having thought about the problem a little more, I think it might not actually be as hard to solve as I first feared. The youtube-dl python program has some reasonably straightforward code for interpreting the javascript unobfuscation code in the HTML5 player. It ought to be possible to port this code to Perl without undue pain. Next time I get some free time I'll attempt this and see if it gets us to a working solution I've spent many hours hacking on the code today. I rewrote the youtube-dl python code for interpreting javascript in Perl, and have integrated it into the YouTube slimserver plugin code. So when we see an encrypted youtube stream signature we can evaluate the actual youtube javascript player code to decrypt (well unobfuscate) the signature. This lets us fetch the raw data stream once again ! I've successfully played a number of youtube streams by Blur and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Obviously not an exhaustive test, but it shows enough signs of life that this is worth sharing for others to try... As mentioned in my previous posting, you need to install Mozilla::CA, Net::SSLeay and IO::Socket::SSL from CPAN so that the plugin can deal with https URLs from youtube. My ported signature code requires that you install the JSON module too. So in addition to the instructions in my previous post, also run this. # cd /opt/ssods4/tmp # wget http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/M/MA/MAKAMAKA/JSON-2.90.tar.gz # tar zxvf JSON-2.90.tar.gz # cd JSON-2.90 # ../../bin/perl Makefile.PL # make # make install # cd .. I have bundled the updated plugin code into a zip file for convenience, and attached it to this posting, as well as uploading it to https://www.berrange.com/~dan/YouTube-html5player-v0.16.zip So, recapping First, install the youtube plugin on your slimserver normally Second, make sure you have Mozilla::CA, Net::SSLeay, IO::Socket::SSL and JSON modules installed from CPAN (see instructions above or README.txt in my ZIP file) Third, copy the ProtocolHandler.pm, Signature.pm and JSInterp.pm files from my updated ZIP file into your slimserver plugin directory (/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/YouTube on my QNap NAS), replacing the original ProtocolHandler.pm that came with the youtube plugin I hope this works for other people too - I'm very unlikely to have any time to further hack on this myself if further problems are found, so perhaps the original author who wrote the youtube plugin will see this message and be able to integrate the changes into their officially hosted plugin in some nicer manner. +---+ |Filename: YouTube-html5player-v0.16.zip| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17643| +---+ berrange's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64173 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87731 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Details of how I got my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 working were posted here - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103158-Announce-PlayHLS-Plugin-plugin-to-play-Apple-HLS-m3u8-streamp=809123highlight=#post809123 Yes, using this did the trick, I suspect that it was slightly simpler, but that you have a newer ffmpeg. Good news both ways. ericj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3230 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm in the habit of favouriting all the live urls for easy access they all stopped working (were HLS links using the modded OPML file). Now remade all the favourites with the new URLs. Dragging the play position for Listen Again barely works. I managed to get it to work once jumping back 10 minutes (Radio 3), but I've never got it to work since. But I'm sure it'll be fixable Indeed it should be fixable, either by preferring RTMP or by the BBC re-enabling the HLS BBC Radio 3 Listen Again 320kbps stream. It's a shame we haven't got the 320kbps AAC Listen Again for Radio 3. ut a Text is a poor medium for communication and results in all sorts of mis-understandings, like this one. All the more reason to take care with the words. I am well aware I've made errors in the way I put things on these and other forums, and I try to correct myself when alerted to this. Why not show gratitude for work done, or even pleasure, in the improvements we have, than just make bald 'statements of fact' about things you don't like in a piece of software that hardly officially even exists yet? I sometimes wonder if people realise that it is people that write software, not machines. LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16-24 bit, 44.1-192kbps.
