Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AirPlay, Chromecast and UPnP bridges update
Hi I have a set up with PiCore and am on the stable release channel with bug fixes (LMS 8.3.0) and these plugins are working as expected for me on my chromecast and upnp players. I would like to help out though by testing - as a non technical user would that be any use to you? The last thing I want to do is to be a source of frustration by not following what is required so if you think that's unhelpful do say so - I won't be offended. Mostly the issues seem to be on Windows so I've rigged up an old PC with LMS v8.3.0 ( is that the best one to use or should I be on 8.3.1 or 8.4.0) on Win 10 . I was planning on playing music of various lengths and levels of compression of my own own FLAC and MP3s plus a bit of spotty and see what happens but wondered if there were more specific testing scenarios I should look at. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
Hi. I posted back in March of 2021 about how music played via Spotty gets back to Spotify (or doesn't) so the artist gets paid and the Spotify curated playlists reflect your listening. Michael, I believe, confirmed that this "report back" wasn't available in the Librespot development at that time. My Spotify 2022 Unwrapped came out today and based on the number of songs played, it looks like some of my LMS Spotty listening is included but a lot is not. 19 months have past with lots of LMS development in that time. Is it still the case that Spotty listening doesn't get reported back to Spotify ? By way of update in case it is useful info. We had an unscheduled power outage today that messed up a lot of stuff mainly the last fm autoscrobbler. Mostly I have it all back to normal normal but there was some more strangeness on the Spotify Connect. The one player I have with connect ( see recent posts) failed to appear in the spotify app. It flashes up for a second but never persists. Log shows [22-10-05 17:11:00.4004] Plugins::Spotty::Connect::DaemonManager::checkAPIConnectPlayers (210) Connect daemon is running, but not connected - shutting down to force restart: I've disabled connect altogether now as it's not usable for me. I don't often use Spotify Connect but it's always worked fine me. I know others have had a few issues in the past. Not so great today though so may be something to do with this update? There is a 10 second delay before the music starts playing even though the progress bar is moving in the spotify app. Sometimes the progress bar in the app keeps moving but no music plays. Sometimes the track finishes prematurely, rarely will more than 2 songs from the queue play successfully. Often the song starts playing again. I've tried restarting the server but same issues. Log is not showing any errors since the restart and its set to Warn for spotty. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
I listen to a fair amount of classical music but my circumstances might not be typical and almost certainly not the same as the person making the original request. The tags of my local files are not very good and mostly I listen via Michael's Spotty plugin. In both my cases the MAI plugin doesn't really return anything useful about the composer the artist or the individual track but i might be able to offer a view. Here's a case in point from spotify. 37247 I can find the information about this recording on All Music which I believe is the MAI source. https://www.allmusic.com/album/dvo%C5%C3%A1k-cello-concerto-mw0003403761 I'd be grateful if the MIA returned anything more than than the album art so a link to this all music page would be perfect. However I suspect it might be quite tricky to narrow down the specific recording. Unfortunately "Classical" music is a very diverse genre and inconsistently organised. +---+ |Filename: 2022-02-18.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37247| +---+ The Groundsman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70305 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I am a bit weird I know but most of the time (ie when I'm not listening to classical music) I like to mix up my library which is about 25000 songs. I got rid of most of my CDs and have a small number of things ripped locally that are not available on the streaming service, but 99% of listening is from Spotify. I am yet to find a way of randomising my library so I keep it in around 5 playlists; to work around the 10,000 song limit. From time to time I export everything using an extension - exportify, and do the randomisation in excel and then copy a chunk (3000 songs or so) of the mixed up songs back into Spotify. I can't find an alternative streaming service that allows for this export import so I get my properly randomised music. When I did my trial run installing LMS on Lubuntu they were just there but it looks like LMS is failing to reach the repository (is that the right name?) Just a small thing. When I view a Spotify playlist via the Spotty App it shows cover art , song artist and album - all very elegant. If I add the same playlist to "Favourites" and select it the Spotify urls are displayed - not at all elegant. Any chance it could display the cover art , song artist and album instead please? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Online Music Library Integration
Thanks. I am still unclear, but I do appreciate this is something to do with the way I have my Spotify set up rather than the way the plugin works. I have my Spotify organised so that all my music exists in 6 playlists that represent 5 genres plus another one for "new music to try". I am using playlists as a collection of songs. I don't understand what makes the 101 songs that are integrated special. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Online Music Library Integration
I think I must be missing something really obvious here and recently read that this plugin integrates playlists only but I do not understand how it is interacting with my Spotify account. I see the following information about Spotify 35451 When I search for an album or an artist or anything within LMS, only the local files show up other than for the 9 albums/101 tracks but I can't figure out how to get the 27,195 tracks that are in playlists to show up. I also can't figure out what attributes the 9 albums 101 tracks have that do make them show up. +---+ |Filename: omli 1.JPG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35451| +---+ The Groundsman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70305 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114960 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
Hopefully this is in the right place as I haven't been able to completely be sure where the issue lies. I'm having a problem in the last couple of days playing tracks over 10 minutes from Spotify via Chromecast Audio and Airplay The Following instances 1) track Shine on you crazy Diamond parts 1-7 duration 17:32 from spotify over airplay bridge. Track ends prematurely around 12 minutes and crossfades with the next rack in the queue. I have this track locally but at a lower bit rate and it played right through. 2) track Schuberts Octet 1st movement https://open.spotify.com/track/7abavMfKPzktTyEHDnoJkd. duration 14:52 Track ended around 11 minutes. I don't have this track locally but another version of the same piece of music at a low bit rate and this played fine. I checked the airplay log, the chromecast log and the LMS log. I get this warning repeatedly during the airplay session. [21-07-23 16:50:46.1592] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1341) Warning: [16:50:45.8050] Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\RaopBridge\HTML\EN\plugins\RaopBridge\settings\basic.html line xxx. So I'm thinking that the problem is in the chromecast bridge with the track being shorter than expected. Is this potentially an intermittent buffering issue? I seem to recall another report of problems with long songs but I can't seem to find it now. Any help gratefully received. My mistake. My processor does support 64bit but it was originally win7 starter 32 bit so in the move to Win10 it installed the 32 bit version. I've now moved to Win10 64bit and reinstalled LMS. I got the same error as before saying to check I was Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime (32-bit!). I updated that to 64 bit manually and everything is now working OK, albeit a little be slowly. It takes around 3-5 seconds longer to add around 200 songs to a queue and there is some lag in changing volume etc but I hope that will settle down. I'm a bit concerned that the LMS installation was partly stuck in 32bit, so was wondering if anything else needs to change. The Perl Version? Though I have no idea how you would update that manually if it does need to change. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
I'm the same to be honest. I do like to keep an eye out for changes to my plugins ( Material, Spotty, Chromecast and airplay bridges). If you have the box ticked to automatically update the plugins you don't get a notification in material if there has been an update that is pending a restart. Material is my preferred skin and I dont use anything else on mobile and tablet but my work around is to open the default view when I'm using my laptop and that way you do get a notification that a plug in has been updated and needs LMS to restart; it's displayed at the bottom of of the screen next to the help. i did wonder and have previously suggested that we could have a notification in material in the top right corner - maybe a different colour to the green dot that gets displayed when there is a new version of LMS. It doesn't seem to be an issue for most people so I understand if Craig is not keen on this. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
Sorry if this is a dumb question. The Android Spotify app has a new feature that shows Recently Played, but it only shows stuff played through the official App and Spotty plugin listening doesn't appear. This made me wonder if listening via Spotty plugin is recorded against my Spotify account at all and as a result feeds what Spotify suggests and curates for my account. I'm now thinking it doesn't and that explains why things like my Discovery Weekly is full of inappropriate suggestions  The Groundsman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70305 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111923 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yep I have the automatic plugins ticked. That downloads them but they are not activated until after the server restart. I was expecting the same behaviour as in the default skin (as described in my post) That way I can see which plug in has been updated and what the functional change is, so I can decide If I want to apply it straight away or wait for the next time LMS gets updated. Really not that big a deal, was more curious about the difference between the 2 skins. I did have a quick look around for this but as it's such a monster thread I couldn't seem to search it that efficiently - sorry :o On the default skin I get a message at the bottom to say if a new version of LMS is available, and in Material I get a lime green blob by the main menu in the top right for this too. However, if there is a plugin update requiring a restart I also get this notification at the bottom of the screen on the default skin. Is there a way of showing this in material please? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
Sorry to be a bit slow on this - I did try and follow the recent posts but I'm still not clear. I used to Stream Spotify Connect to a Chromecast Audio and was reliably informed that Spotify doesn't officially support streaming to Chromecast Audio. In the Spotify Android app the google hardware shows up as *Google cast* rather than *Connect*. Spotify converts their stream to AAC (as used in spotify the web player). This casting at AAC 256kbit/s is inferior to regular Spotify Connect of 320 kbits/s. Generally earlier spotty showed in LMS streaming as Ogg Vorbis at 320kbits but now every track shows as -705kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to FLAC)-. I assume that even though this looks like it is a higher bitrate, it won't offer any improvement as the original stream is at 320 kbps. Also why is it necessary to do the conversion now anyway? Hoping someone can clarify for me. regards Nicholas The Groundsman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70305 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111923 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I have a few "go to" playlists in Spotify that I listen to and update all the time. To save time I put these in LMS favourites folder so they show up on the home screen. When I load them up the only thing displayed is pages of the Spotify URLs spotify://track:[spotifyid]. i can still add the whole playlist It's really not a problem as I can add the playlist to a player queue from the favourites summary screen - I just wondered if this was expect behaviour. It works the same in material and default Interfaces so assume this is a Spotty thing.
