The docker hub - https://hub.docker.com/r/mamema/musicip_wine - entry is 'sparse'. When you say "So i created a linux docker with wine and the windows version of musicip" is this the full gui or just a headless 1.9ish version ? What are the commands to load the container ? I have MIP running using this script - docker run -d \ --name=musicip \ -e PUID=1000 \ -e PGID=1000 \ -e TZ=Australia/Sydney \ -p 10002:10002 \ -v "/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-cd59f9cd-585b-4c6f-840f-966d2e6e45cc/Storage/Music":"/music":rw \ -v "/SSD_Data/MIP":"/config":rw \ --network host \ --restart unless-stopped \ ptoulouse/musicip My son got the linux 1.8 version with the GUI (MusicMagicMixer) running for me on Ubuntu but has not visited since I built an Open Media Vault server (as a replacement for an old Vortex Box) and used SeanMiddleton's instructions to install LMS and MIP containers. I am going to get my son to put the Linux MIP GUI in a container, but if you have the windows MIP GUI in a container that will be much better as it was not just high res files that had bugs and the Linux MIP is single threaded while the Win will go to 8 threads. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP/Sugarcube Questions
You should run the analysis at one location and archive the analysis, then sync. One issue is that your time sequence of adding music will be compromised, i.e. New Music will be useless. If you tick the options, general - preserve fie modification time when updating files then your music will be analysed and archived but if sync is based on time stamp it won't be synced. The way around this is to batch analyse and use BulkFileChanger on Windows to add 5 seconds to the modified time. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Success: MusicIP and Spicefly Sugarcube running on Raspberry Pi
Frankd, slartibartfast and CypherMK, What is the starting point for getting this going ? Obviously a running version of LMS on a RPi is needed, but what are the recommendations ? May I suggest an addition to "the first post" to include something along the lines of : Prerequisites for running MusicIP with LMS on a RPi Recommended Hardware - RPi 4 - 4Gb, 64Gb SD card, FLIRC case . OS - Download Raspbian buster lite from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ and install it. LMS - Download Debian Installer Package (ARM) from http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 <<-- ??? Is that the right version ? Follow instructions from ? to install and get LMS running. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin
Michael, would you add something like this to the first post in this thread to document some features that newer users may not know about. -- Music & Artist Info (MAI) can display album artwork, artist pictures, pdf and html files associated with an artist. The plugin assumes the Artist/**Album folder structure and will add "Local Artwork" and "Text files from music folder" menu items in the "*M*"ore menu when local files are found. The "local artwork" will give you access to any artwork file stored inside the album's folder. "Text files from music folder" will display pdf, html and txt files such as booklets provided with digital downloads that are stored inside the album's folder. There is a bit of special treatment for the bio.html: the plugin would actually walk up a few folder levels searching for anything bio*, assuming that most users have an Artist/Album folder structure. Artist pictures are either stored as artist.jpg/png in an album folder, or as "artist name.jpg/png" in the configurable one for all artists images folder. - Also, it would be more logical to add a similar treatment for artist pictures as you did for the bio.html - i.e. allow artist.jpg to be put in the artist folder as well as the artist/album folder. Just got home after a month away. Loaded Squeezelite-X 1.3.2. Works perfectly, saw the port config option, available if you want it but if you don't then it stays hidden. Good way of doing it as the screen stays uncluttered. There was a plugin update notice at the bottom of the LMS screen, so I updated the plugin, restarted LMS but the update notice was still there. Couldn't remember how to refresh Squeezelite-X so just closed and restarted. Is there a way (apart from close / restart) of refreshing the LMS screen ? A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Michael, on my system if there are lyrics they already display in the web gui on the left pane if you have clicked on he track in the playlist. I notice that there is now an option after Artist Information for Lyrics that displays only the lyrics. If the track doesn't have Lyrics, does your plugin retrieve them and save them ? Great plugin, really good. I had tried an audiobook once before but it was a pita to restart where you were up to. Thanks. Off Topic, but the audio books that I tried were mp3 at encoded at either 22 or 32 instead of 44.1, so they played fine on my boom but were like chipmunks on the Raspberry pi players. MIP converts the music track it is analyzing to .wav internally then analyzes it. If the m4a spec changed since MIP development ceased then MIP probably can't convert it. You should be able to convert the m4a to mp3 at the same bit rate so you don't lose any more detail, then MIP will be able to analyze the track. Then you could even copy the MIP tags back to the m4a file using MP3Tag, a google search for "MP3Tag copy tag from file to file" gives a few options. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SugarCube and MusicIP for music mixing
MIP analyzable tracks - could you list a few filenames of these tracks. MIP won't analyze tracks shorter than 10 seconds, and sometimes tracks with a "-" won't analyze either, e.g. The Beatles Ob-la-di, ob-la da unless you change the file name to Ob - la - di, in other words it needs a blank either side of the dash.. SugarCube will use the parameters that you set up in it for MIP although I usually set the MIP mix parameters the same in both MIP and SugarCube. As MIP is now "abandon-ware" , other than on the Spicefly sugarCube site there is no documentation. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
Fired up my Vortexbox this morning, ready to try Philippe's dev version only to be greeted with "Plugin updates are available (Chromecast bridge)". Over to the plugins page where it said that Chromecast bridge (v0.2.1.0) was available. So, into Putty and systemctl stop squeezeboxserver, then deleted libssl.so and libcrypto.so from /usr/lib64, then systemctl start squeezeboxserver. Into the gui, Settings / Plugins and installed Chromecast bridge (v0.2.1.0), set it to use squeeze-2-cast-x86-64-static , click apply and away it went ! Gold star for Philippe ! Thank you. Philippe, I will monitor this thread a little more closely looking out for the release of the 64-static version. If that gets installed with file permissions of 755 by your plugin then Chromecast will work on Vortexbox with no fiddling. Perhaps a brief note in the help suggesting that the 64-static version be tried first due to its no dependencies would also be useful. Thank you again for the plugin. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
I bought two Chromecast devices yesterday, an Audio and a Chromecast for the TV. I installed the Castbridge plugin on my Vortexbox 2.4 running Fedora 23 64 bit, LMS Version: 7.9.0 - 1463151428 @ Mon May 16. Castbridge installed OK but wouldn't work. After searching I found reference to permissions for /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/CastBridge/Bin/squeeze-2-cast-x86-64 not including executable (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104614-Announce-CastBridge-integrate-Chromecast-players-with-LMS-%28squeeze2cast%29=853153=1#post853153) , Filezilla changed the permissions to 755. Logging on in Putty and executing squeeze-2-cast-x86-64 showed some missing dependencies as detailed here - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104614-Announce-CastBridge-integrate-Chromecast-players-with-LMS-%28squeeze2cast%29=841141=1#post841141 - searching for the missing modules ie libssl.so and libcrypto.so and copying them into the /lib64 directory enabled squeeze-2-cast-x86-64 to be executed. So, then it was a simple matter of re-booting the server, going to the Chromecast Bridge settings in the Plugins tab and selecting squeeze-2-cast-x86-64 - don't select squeeze-2-cast-x86-64-static as it doesn't exist ! I didn't change anything else and the two Chromecast devices were detected and appeared in the list of players. So far I have only streamed/cast to the audio player as I typed this. I added " %squeezeboxserver ALL = NOPASSWD:/bin/systemctl* " which as Gordon said in his post isn't wise or secure, but it works. The Server Power Control (SPC) setup gives you the ability to suspend or hibernate your server as well as shutdown. bakker_be, I just built a couple of VortexBoxes and I copied Prefs from an older VortexBox which ensured that all my settings and plugins remained the same. You could try copying Prefs from the Windows box to the Daphile box. I use FileZilla to transfer stuff from a Win 7 box to the Vortexbox. Restart LMS after copying prefs, on the Vortexboxes I had to tick the boxes to install License Manager and Spicefly. You will also have to change music directories. Save a copy of Prefs in case it all goes totally wrong (rename it to saveprefs). Also check the file attributes of the plugins after copying prefs. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
Early versions of this plugin populated this folder with %artist%.jpg files, allowing the manual replacement of artist photos or addition of photos if the plugin couldn't find one on the web. Yesterday I saved and then deleted the folder with the intention of getting an updated series of photos when a new clear and rescan was run. To my surprise, no %artist%.jpg files were added during the Artist picture lookup phase of the rescan and it took an hour longer than when the folder was populated. (I have since restored it). How is this folder populated now? Is it purely manual? Is there a way of telling the plugin to populate it to save web searches for subsequent rescans ? Neither: %GENRE/ARTIST/composer.jpg ..nor.. %GENRE/%ARTIST/composer.jpg in the Folder with artist photos field seems to work. Gordon, First off, LMS scanner won't find any jpg or html files unless there is a music track in the same directory. So, to get your bio and composer files recognised you need to add a flac or mp3 file to the folder containing the those files. I have attached a zip file containing a flac file with tags of Du Fay, G as artist, Biography as album. The file is 5 seconds of silence in case someone plays it. Download this file, unzip and place in /mnt/Media/Music/a_Medieval/Du Fay, G/13 Silence.flac Then copy /mnt/Media/Music/a_Medieval/Du Fay, G/composer.jpg and paste as /mnt/Media/Music/a_Medieval/Du Fay, G/artist.jpg Now run a scan for new and changed. When that has finished, browse by artists to Du Fay, there will be his artist.jpg displayed, click either the picture or his name. Du Fay's albums will be listed, there will be an album called Biography, click the M icon for this album and there will be a Local Artwork and Text files from music folder menu items displayed. Local Artwork will list available jpg or png files for display, Text files will list html, txt or pdf files available for display. I have found that some html files will take several minutes to load as I suspect there must be some external url's in them that take a while to time out. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
Gordon, You could use the Local Artwork feature to display your artist biography in a similar way to how I have set up booklets from a few box sets. For instance, the Emmylou Harris Songbird 4cd box set has a 200 page booklet with a page or so for each track. After scanning, I created a directory called Songbird Booklet that is listed in explorer next to Songbird Disc 1, Songbird Disc 2 etc. The Songbird Booklet contains all the scans from the booklet and a flac file of 5 seconds of silence. The flac file is tagged Artist - Emmylou Harris, Album - Songbird Booklet, Title - A Booklet (Silence). Then, browsing or searching by album will bring up an album called Songbird Booklet (along with the other Songbird discs), clicking the album brings up a single track called 1. A Booklet and then clicking the M button next to either the Album or the track will display the Local Artwork option and then the booklet. Reading this sounds like a lot of clicks, but it isn't as clumsy as it reads, and the booklets are available on my Nexus 7 and 10 tablets in OrangeSqueeze as well as from the LMS web GUI. For your classical composers, you could create a bio sub directory under the Artist, include your Artist.jpg picture and bio.jpg. To get LMS to scan it you then need the dummy (silence) flac file tagged appropriately. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. This doesn't always work. One of my problems is accented characters - for instance for artist Béla Fleck the plugin has stored Béla Fleck.jpg in my designated Artist Pictures folder. Excellent enhancements. Scan for artists went from 12,000+ to 3,178 and took 2:37 to complete on my workstation. Copied the Artist Pictures folder to my low powered LMS server, configured the settings and did a new and changed scan that completed the artist picture lookup in less than an hour. Browsing by artist is showing up some more of my bad tagging - Händel, G F and Handel, G F for instance. For the Album Art, the Find Albums with missing artwork listing under Extras on the Web interface has been very useful - I have been slowly reducing the number of missing covers while listening to music on the boom in my study, maybe a similar Find Artists with missing pictures would make it easier than browsing through the Artists looking for Man with Trumpet. Michael, a bunch of us are seeing a loading problem (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?100285-Why-many-men-with-an-equal-number-of-trunpets/page2) However, I suspect that the new version loads as the first time I tried a browse by artist my system froze for a minute or two, then displayed some nice artist pictures. Does the Music Artist Info plugin (MAIP) cache the artist pictures from session to session ? Or are they re-populated each time LMS starts ? Does the MAIP have to re-populate the cache after a Clear Re-scan ? Can the MAIP save the artist pictures to the configured Folder with Artist Photos ? Which would then enable a user to replace a picture with a preferred one. Also, the plugin's settings only appear under the Settings/Advanced tab in Music and Artist information, would be good if the settings appeared on the plugin page. mherger wrote: You can disable the lookup and pre-caching in the plugin's settings. But it doesn't use local artwork for artists yet. I first have to figure out what strategy to use. Any input is welcome. Now if you can tell me how LMS should find that matching artist.jpg in a timely manner, that would be great. But add an artist.jpg to the mix won't do it. Where will it be stored? In the artist's own folder (only works if the folder structure is set up this way)? In album A by the artist? Any album? Which one? As mentioned in reply to jjzolx you can disable the scanning task. But browsing artists will be painfully slow. I'll probably add another option to not show artwork there at all. Michael First off, we are dealing with Local Music. We don't have an Artist until we have a Track with an artist tag. Tracks are usually organised into Albums of a single artist but can be in an album of multiple artists (in the case of a compilation or Various Artists album). There can be many albums for an artist. I suggest a simple rule for building the browse by artist images: If Scan Artist Image option is yes, then when a new artist is encountered, scanner stores the first artist.jpg found where artist.jpg is in the album folder just like cover.jpg . When there are no more new artists, if no artist.jpg exists for an artist then lookup lastFM or whatever you do now. In other words, building the table of artist images is two phase, the first phase is getting artist.jpg from the local files, the second phase looking up and storing images from the web When browsing from a track's or album's context menu then try for artist.jpg in the current (track's) folder and if not found get the image stored by the scanner. mherger wrote: Heh... this isn't released yet :-). Did you add my repository file to your list? Does it work for you (you'd have to select the MusicArtistInfo skin manually in Settings/Interface)? I only updated my repos.xml file for another developer to play with, but wanted to tweak a few things before going really public... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - 'now Free' (http://tapatalk.com/m?id=1) Michael, I have not added your repository to the list, the plugin update was there waiting to be installed when I started up the server. I checked https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commits/public/7.8, saw that there was something added to 7.8 so downloaded and installed the latest version and couldn't find anything different so posted the update notice to allow you to comment if you felt inclined. I have selected the MusicArtistInfo skin, what am I meant to see ? A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee.
