I use SDT and have it set up for both. That way I get the forecast from weather.com (identifier UKXX) and the local current conditions from a very close wunderground station (identifier IDNSxx). You then can mix the weather.com and wunderground format specifiers in your player preferences to combine the info as you'd like. For my Boom I have: 3-line: %Z PREC %x Line 12: %y: %v %e %1 Note I always find I have to use %e for Celsius from Wunderground, despite the SDT help saying that gets you Fahrenheit. Works a treat. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67655highlight=spiceyweather Hey Whitman- I haven't been following the anti 7.4 movement, in summary what's the issue with it? Regarding 7.3, has anyone tried running it on 7.4 (you'll have to install it manually instead of using the repo). Perhaps it'll work, if not has anyone tried copy/pasting the 7.4 gotWeather Perl sub from plugin.pm to 5.8.7? That should work. I'm sorry to say, but supporting an additional build is not appealing. I am not a software company with unlimited time and resources. To have a full fledged build I'd also have to go backport all of the other fixes that have occurred past 5.8.7 or I'm certain there'd be emails and forum posts to that regard. I do not have a 7.3 installation to test things with, if someone is willing to test a build out for me we can try that route. Basically I'll do the copy/pasting suggested above and you'll need to manually install the copy and let me know how it goes. If it looks good I can package it up. -Greg -- GoCubs GoCubs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73222 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I haven't been following the anti 7.4 movement, in summary what's the issue with it? For what it's worth, I recently upgraded to 7.4.1 (release version) from a 7.3 build, this is on Windows XP. No problems at all, in fact it really seems better in a number of ways. I recommend it to anyone still on 7.3. (Having said that, I completely wiped out my 7.3 installation including the DB and all plugins and started from scratch, saving only my prefs and first making sure I had a Trackstat backup I could restore from after the DB was rebuilt.) Greg can't be expected to support multiple builds, it's enough that he's developing SDT just out of love for the community. Bruce, how often are you updating data? I had been updating every 5 minutes (for years!) when I saw the intermittent failures. This morning I added my latest safeguard and increased the interval to 7 minutes. In over 110 fetches, I've only seen 1 obvious error, and it was the second fetch after I decreased the frequency. Probably just coincidence -- weather.com fixing a bug on their end. I don't suppose you're up for taking ownership of another plugin are you peterw? :/ It's a biggie for me, too. SDT is on my short list of must-have plugins, and it's not fun making do without it. You probably don't want to see my copy of SDT. :-) I've hacked mine to include support for a FuzzyTime feature that's not mentioned on my FuzzyTime web page -- making the text move slowly from side-to-side (to distribute the pixel usage, in hopes that this, like AutoDim, might help keep the VFDs in better shape). In my case, every time SDT refreshed the weather forecast, it would move the time, weather info, and weather conditions icon a bit to one side or the other. It works great in Large font mode, but is messed up in Medium and Small. Since I never fixed Medium and Small, I never bothered submitting changes to Greg Brown (SDT's author). Anyhow, this means I might be running a relatively old version of SDT. I hope that Greg also still uses SDT, and that he'll jump in and fix the HTML-parsing routine himself soon (though I know he is often very busy with his day job). Otherwise I may have to take a stab at it, as it really does bug me to see a plain old clock on my Squeezeboxes. I can't imagine republishing SDT, though. Uploading a new Plugin.pm or zip file to the forums, probably. Email it to Greg, definitely. If anybody here with free time knows Perl, I'd encourage you to take a look. There's a callback function in Plugin.pm (GotWeather, I think) that parses the response from weather.com -- looks like lots of regexp code, just what you'd expect. It should be pretty easy to rip GotWeather out to a standalone script for troubleshooting, I just don't know how soon I'd be able to do that. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73222 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

My weather.com code is 76248 and I try to display the following: (Default Mode) Icon On, Off Line 1 and 2 macros: %z, %t All I see is a cloud and the degrees symbols where the two temperatures should be placed. I tried placing your Chicago code in my setup, and get the same results. Any other additional information you'd like? Thanks for your help. As you can see, looks like a lot of people really like and depend on SDT (as I do!). -- hokie hokie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21568 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73222 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

GoCubs;506141 Wrote: Hi everyone- I'm sorry you're having issues. I'm currently running 5.8.11 (latest version posted a few weeks ago) and haven't had any issues when using zip code 60614 (Chicago). My guess is they've changed something when displaying some other countries. I would try restarting your server. That's what will give you the cloud symbol and all the blank weather data. Prior to doing that, it appears to be working OK, albeit with data that is off by 8 or 12 hours. It seems as if weather.com has definitely changed for US zip codes as Peterw confirmed; I'd give a reset a try and see if you don't get the same behavior we're all seeing. And, last but not least, we do thank you for your support of SDT; I know you've put a lot of work into it and personally taken some of my suggestions in the past for improving the plugin! -- mbonsack mbonsack's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1398 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73222 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
