Re: Att Slau: keyboard maestro
Hey, The last time I tried using Roland Cloud, it was not accessible, but things may have changed since then. You might be able to use Chi Kim’s tool, VOCR, to scan the screen and automate mouse clicks where necessary, though this method could be slow and tedious. I’m not sure if you’re using Native Instruments hardware and software, but they offer a very accessible system that enables third-party browsing of virtual instruments and plug-ins. Below, I’ll share some information and a link to the Roland Cloud NKS libraries that Jason provides on his website, freelancesoundlabs.com. If you’re using Native Instruments hardware and have the Komplete Kontrol plug-in loaded on an instrument track, you could purchase these NKS libraries and use them with your Roland Cloud subscription to browse for the types of instruments you want without needing sighted assistance. I haven’t tried these specific libraries myself, but I’ve successfully used others, such as Addictive Drums. I hope this information is helpful to you. Chi Kim's tool can be found at this link: https://github.com/chigkim/VOCR YouTube demonstration of VOCR: https://youtu.be/RiWhp3SNY4Y Roland cloud NKS libraries can be found at this link: https://freelancesoundlabs.com/index.php/downloads/komplete-kontrol-vst-packs/itemlist/category/131-roland-cloud Here's some information about native instruments and Freelance sound labs: To use the Freelance Sound Labs NKS libraries for Roland Cloud instruments with your Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol hardware, you'll need to purchase and download the specific NKS library for the Roland Cloud instrument you're interested in. Freelance Sound Labs offers NKS libraries for a range of Roland Cloud instruments, including both individual instrument libraries and bundles. Each NKS library includes artwork/database files, tagged factory presets, and sound previews, ensuring seamless browsing and control over the virtual instruments directly from your Komplete Kontrol hardware. For example, the Roland Cloud Legendary Instruments collection includes NKS libraries for classic synthesizers like the D-50, Juno-106, and Jupiter-8, among others. These can be purchased individually or as part of a bundle. The libraries are updated to work with VST3 versions of the plugins and are compatible with both Komplete Kontrol and Maschine software and hardware, supporting PC/Mac and 64-bit VST3 [oai_citation:1,Roland Cloud Legendary Instruments](https://freelancesoundlabs.com/index.php/downloads/komplete-kontrol-vst-packs/item/439-roland-cloud-legendary-instruments). Similarly, the Roland Cloud Zenology Instruments collection provides NKS libraries for the Zenology software synthesizer, including the main factory libraries and all expansion content. This allows for comprehensive browsing of all preset content, with full parameter mapping, database and artwork files, and sound previews. These libraries are also updated for VST3 compatibility and support a wide range of software and hardware configurations [oai_citation:2,Roland Cloud Zenology Instruments](https://freelancesoundlabs.com/index.php/downloads/komplete-kontrol-vst-packs/item/442-roland-cloud-srx-instruments). Hello, The Focusrite Scarlett and Clarett audio interface models are highly accessible, especially in terms of the control application. The Clarett model is a higher end interface from focusrite. I personally utilize the Avid S1, Avid Dock, and the Avid Carbon interface together with the latest Pro Tools Ultimate software on macOS Monterey with my Apple M1 Mac Studio. The Carbon audio interface integrates seamlessly into the Pro Tools software environment, allowing you the ability to monitor and adjust various parameters directly within the software. A blind or visually impaired user can also memorize the encoder knob and button layout for additional manipulation of parameters and settings. I am very happy and pleased with my set up, but it is not cheap to say the least. Sorry you're feeling bad chris, but no ProTools is still not compatible with the latest Mac operating system Sonoma. Re: How do i add my motif es as another keyboard?
Connecting your Yamaha Motif keyboard to your computer for use with ProTools involves both MIDI and audio connections. Here’s how you can set it up: MIDI Connection 1. Connect the MIDI Interface: Use a MIDI cable to connect the MIDI OUT port of your Yamaha Motif to the MIDI IN port of a MIDI interface. Then, connect the MIDI interface to your computer via USB or another appropriate connection method. 2. Configure in ProTools: • Open ProTools. • Navigate to ‘Setup’ > ‘MIDI’ > ‘MIDI Input Devices’. • Enable the MIDI interface in the MIDI Input Devices window. • Go to ‘Setup’ > ‘Peripherals’ > ‘MIDI Controllers’. • Configure the MIDI controller settings (selecting the type and assigning the input and output ports as discussed in the previous response). Audio Connection 1. Audio Interface: You’ll need an audio interface to capture the sound from your Yamaha Motif. Connect the audio outputs (usually L/R) of the Motif to the audio inputs of your audio interface using appropriate cables (like ¼ inch TS or TRS cables). 2. Set Up in ProTools: • Open ProTools. • Create a new track, selecting the type (such as Stereo or Mono) depending on how you’ve connected the keyboard. • Assign the input of this track to the inputs where you’ve connected your Motif on the audio interface. • Arm the track for recording and adjust levels as necessary. Additional Tips • Install Drivers: Ensure that all necessary drivers for your MIDI interface and audio interface are installed on your computer. • Check MIDI Settings on Motif: Ensure that the MIDI settings on your Yamaha Motif are configured correctly to send MIDI data. • Audio Routing: If you want to use the built-in sounds of the Motif, the audio connection is essential. If you’re only using it as a MIDI controller, the MIDI connection alone is sufficient. • Monitor Setup: Ensure you have your monitoring setup correctly configured in ProTools to hear the audio from the Motif. By connecting both MIDI and audio, you can use the Yamaha Motif as a MIDI controller in ProTools and also record its audio output directly into your sessions. > On Dec 27, 2023, at 17:16, David Ingram wrote: > > Hi, list members, i’d like to add my Yamaha Motif es6 as another keyboard > to Pro Tools. Re: Newbie Ralph “Toastie” Peterson with a very basic hardware requirement question.
Apologies for the length of my last message; I aimed to provide comprehensive information due to the significant investment at stake. I have heavily invested in Avid’s equipment and software myself. As an update, the company behind Pro Tools has indeed been acquired; for more details, here’s a relevant link: STG Completes Acquisition of Avid Technology Despite these substantial changes, including Apple’s hardware updates and Avid’s acquisition, I believe accessibility will be preserved. Visually impaired users have experienced bugs, which Avid is progressively addressing. However, with such a significant shift, there’s uncertainty around the company’s culture and development process in my personal opinion. I remain hopeful, having invested considerable money and time into this digital audio workstation.Regarding Pro Tools, it operates on a subscription basis with three tiers. For serious work, I suggest Pro Tools Studio or Pro Tools Ultimate subscriptions. It’s worth researching whether perpetual licenses are available for long-term use, allowing you to avoid subscription fees. With a perpetual license, you own the software and can use it indefinitely without additional costs for updates. If you choose this route, it’s wise not to update your Mac’s OS to avoid compatibility issues. Perpetual licenses often come with support and update plans, ensuring your Pro Tools version stays current and you receive Avid support.Other digital audio workstations to consider include Reaper and Logic Pro. The latter, developed by Apple, is widely used by blind and visually impaired users. Reaper, is accessible on both Mac and PC, if you decide to go that route. Both logic Pro and reaper have great communities for learning when it comes to blind and visually impaired users. Visit https://logic.band/ or https://groups.io/g/rwp/topics to learn more. Investing in a Mac remains a solid choice in my view. Here’s a direct link to Avid’s description of the Pro Tools subscription tiers, where ‘Pro Tools Flex’ refers to ‘Pro Tools Ultimate’: Avid Introduces New Pro Tools Subscription Offerings To verify Avid Pro Tools compatibility with your hardware or macOS, follow this link and subscribe to the blog for ongoing updates: Pro Tools System Requirements and CompatibilityTo ensure clarity, the latest Mac operating system, Sonoma, is currently incompatible with ProTools software. The timeline for ProTools compatibility with the latest Mac OS Sonoma remains uncertain to me. My educated guess is Avid Pro Tools will be trying to release a compatible version here within the next six months.Regarding Flo Tools, I am using it without any major issues on macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura. Most users are running the latest version of ProTools & Flo Tools on macOS Monterey or macOS Ventura, both of which were released prior to Sonoma. I’m just wondering what your concerns might be? Re: Newbie Ralph “Toastie” Peterson with a very basic hardware requirement question.
Your question may appear straightforward, yet it encompasses a complex and broad range of considerations. Are you aiming to focus solely on audio recording, or are you planning to use exclusively virtual instruments, or perhaps a blend of the two? The new high-performance Mac computer systems are very good for audio and virtual instrument production/recording. However, it’s important to note that ProTools is not yet compatible with the latest macOS, which is typically pre-installed on new systems purchased today. The previous macOS, Ventura, does work but with some minor bugs. Are you seeking mobility, or is your goal a more fixed studio setup? When selecting a computer system for recording audio and using virtual instruments, consider the following: • Performance: A powerful CPU is crucial for efficient audio processing and virtual instrument use, ensuring minimal latency and preventing glitches. • RAM: Sufficient RAM is important for handling multiple tracks, samples, and virtual instruments simultaneously. • Storage: Choose solid-state drives (SSDs) for quick data access speeds, vital for streaming large sample libraries, and make sure there is enough storage space for your recording files. • Audio Interface Compatibility: Confirm that the computer is compatible with your audio interface in terms of both hardware connections and software drivers. • Connectivity: Ensure there are enough USB or Thunderbolt ports for your controllers, external drives, and other peripherals.Carefully weighing these considerations will help you choose a computer system that is reliable and efficient for audio recording and virtual instrument production. I really only scratched the surface here and there are all kinds of other things to consider, but I hope this helps a little. Avid, the company who develops ProTools has also gone through a transition and unfortunately, I don't know where that's going to lead us in terms of accessibility. I love using ProTools and I am primarily working in Ventura and Monterey operating systems, on newer silicon M1 and M2 models. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, Apple has released their latest operating system and is probably delivering that with their new computers. I would be mindful of this as well as other things. If you're not familiar with ProTools and need to learn more about how to use it from the perspective of a screenreader user, follow this link:Pro Tools Tutorial for Screen Reader Usersptaccess.github.io Respectfully,Steve BaskisOn Nov 6, 2023, at 21:52, 'Ralph Peterson' via Pro Tools Accessibility wrote:Hi, I’m completely new here. Re: Arranging parts in a song or documentary in PT
Your question is straightforward, but I may not be completely clear on what you are trying to do. I’m not certain if you can automate or program the playback of memory markers or locations. To separate your audio, use command E, then cut and paste the clips as desired in shuffle mode. This quickly rearranges content on the same track. Users can also create new playlists or tracks to move and reorganize audio clips, allowing for focused playback and review on selected tracks. ProTools offers multiple workflows, and there’s no singular right approach. If you’re asking specifically audio and video movement, it’s a complex issue requiring a more in-depth conversation. ProTools Ultimate is essential for video and audio rearrangement, but remember it doesn’t offer special transition effects or advanced editing. My response here is very brief and I have left out many details because the subject matter is dynamic. Hopefully I did not misunderstand you and I provided you with things to think about. If you follow this link below to the Pro Tools access tutorial/guide, you may be able to find your answer on your own in the different chapters:Pro Tools Tutorial for Screen Reader Usersptaccess.github.ioRespectfully,Steve BaskisOn Oct 14, 2023, at 08:44, 'John André Lium-Netland' via Pro Tools Accessibility wrote:Hi,I suppose the answer is no, but I’ll ask anyway in case I have missed something. :)If I have a song with different parts, say verses, choruses, bridges etc. - or if I create a documentary with different chapters, is there a way in PT to experiment with different orders of the parts, say in stead of playing part A,B,C,D I wish to rearrange the content to be played as B,A,D,C? Hey, No worries at all. The Avid Control application isn’t accessible on the iPad. While I haven’t tried the desktop version, I suspect it might not be friendly to the blind or visually impaired. Regarding your audio interface query, any interface that’s compatible with your computer should suffice. I personally use both the Avid Carbon and the Avid MTRX audio interfaces. They’re on the pricier side, but their functionality and integration with Avid Pro Tools make them worthwhile for me. For those in the group like Slau who might have 5.1 speaker setups, they could provide more insight on suitable audio interfaces. Although the two I’ve mentioned are options, there’s a wide variety available. If I recall correctly, the C 24 has built-in inputs, whereas the Avid S1 and Avid Dock lack XLR inputs. I could be wrong about the C 24 having XLR inputs though, don't quote me ha ha. Pay close attention to your audio interface specifications and your requirements for your speakers, this will allow you the best playback experience for your room. Starting with the instruction manuals is always a good idea. However, if you encounter any challenges or have questions while using the devices, don’t hesitate to reach out either privately or here on the Google group. I hope this helps! Re: Some questions about the Avid S6, S1 and the Avid Doc
Hello, While I haven’t had experience with an Avid S6 or Avid C24 surface, I do own four Avid S1 control surfaces and an Avid Dock that are installed in my home studio. Yes, the Avid Dock allows for audio scrubbing and editing. Currently, my setup includes 33 motorized faders: one for the Avid Dock, with the other 32 distributed among the four Avid S1 control surfaces. All these devices are networked through a Linksys switch. I have an iPad connected to my Avid Dock, mainly for personal experimentation. Unfortunately, the iPad OS application isn’t user-friendly for those who are blind or visually impaired. While the iPad adds several functionalities, the Avid Dock can function without it, offering automation, scrubbing, and other features tailored to your workflow. Re: problems with Ventura and komplete kontrol
I am considering your problems and information provided. For me, I am running macOS Ventura 13.4, with Pro Tools 23.6 and Native Instruments 14 ultimate collectors edition completely updated with no known major problems. I am not receiving these kinds of errors or issues. My computer system is a Apple M1 Mac Studio and Apple M1 MacBook Pro. I have not been extensively using Native Instruments software as of late, but everything seems to be in working order. Re: looks like another bug
So depending on whether or not you're using flo tools, you could from the Mac finder window ,open your documents folder with the command shift oh shortcut. Navigate and find the ProTools folder, then go into that folder and find the session templates folder. Here you will find session template folders that are generally located in the dashboard template section of ProTools when you first load the application. Find the flow tools folder and within it you will find the file: flotoolssessiontemplate.PTXT If you click on that file, ProTools will load to the dashboard screen that allows you to name the session and select all the parameters related to creating a session. If you are not using flow tools, you could go into any of the other session template folders and find the dot PTXT file to load ProTools and the dashboard for naming and saving your session. This is just a different way to load ProTools and get your session named and saved in the correct location. I believe it will work, since that is the behavior I have experienced using my 2020 Mac mini M1 machine with Ventura 13.3.1 and ProTools 23.3. Let us know if that gets you into ProTools? Re: Saving XLN AD2 factory presets as TFX
Hey, Not entirely sure if there is an easier way. From what I remember, I found the location of where the next and previous buttons are located within the plug-in window and the standalone application window inside addictive drums. You could do this with coordinates or image recognition. Once I accomplished that, I had the ability to create a macro to move the mouse to those locations, this was possible in both the standalone window and plug-in window. It was then very easy to advance the preset forward, then scan the screen and copy the name of the preset, while then executing the command to save a track preset in ProTools. A tip for using VOCR if you don’t already know, is to turn off the reset mouse pointer location option with: control, command, shift,R. If you enable this, your mouse pointer will not reset to the top left corner of the screen. I think the only sighted assistance I required was, image recognition of next and previous arrows that exist in the addictive drums plug-in/application. I applied those images to a keyboardmaestro macro like I mentioned above, and I was able to use the keyboard shortcut option, left for previous an option right for next. From there, I automated everything and it was a breeze to save presets out in a matter of seconds I understand that this is not necessarily simple, but to save out hundreds if not thousands of presets very quickly, this is an optimal solution. Flo mouse gives you the ability to find your mouse coordinates and location on screen, which can be very helpful for inaccessible windows and creating macros to move your mouse pointer to. I’ve fooled around with using image recognition with this application/plug-in, because it seem to work really well, due to the nature of how addictive drums was graphically created. I then could use the macros in both the standalone and plug-in window, without having to make new macros, or other Actions. Personally, learning keyboard maestro, and other things has really allowed me to create more accessibility for myself when I need it. Hope this helps, Steve Baskis > On Jan 11, 2023, at 04:41, Martin (Punky) Sopart wrote: > > Hello all! > > Maybe I'm missing something here. > Is there an easier and more accessible way to load e. g. the XLN AD2 factory > presets to save them as TFX in Pro tools? > At the moment I'm fighting with the preset browser of AD2 AAX by using VOCR. > > Thanks and best! / Martin > > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to ptaccess+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To view this discussion on the web visit > https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/ptaccess/008201d925a0%24e11adf10%24a3509d30%24%40cakewalker.de. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: AD2 plug-In Settings
Exactly! I can’t remember how I had everything set up, but I had it automated with keyboardmaestro Macros/actions. So all I had to do was press one key and advance the preset. I was able to save all the presets out extremely quickly. Happy new year to you as well! It has been some time now since I messed with addictive drums. Back when I was working on AD2, I created a keyboardmaestro utility to help me save the presets out more efficiently. Re: avid link...
I just logged into my.avid.com on my iPhone 13 Pro with Safari. I am able to click on view products and see the list of products that I own no problem. If I click on the down arrow to expand details for the products I own, I am presented with more links. From there, I am able to look at downloads and product details, where all of the things you are looking for should reside. Unless something is changing actively now as we have this conversation, I never use avid link personally for managing my software and plug-ins. I do it manually through the my.avid.com portal. I have not tested these on the latest ProTools version yet. The presets work absolutely perfectly on my Intel system running an older version of ProTools. You must own the entire library from addictive drums 2, in order for you to load a preset. If you cannot see the presets at all, try saving a dummy preset in the header of the Addictive Drums 2 plug-in window. Find that preset folder where you saved the dummy preset, and paste the files provided in the dropbox folder into it. Reboot your system and relaunch Pro Tools to see if that refreshes things. If you are a Native Instruments complete control user, you can also purchase the NKS files from Jason on Freelance SoundLabs, which will give you access through the complete control plug-in and your midi controller. Hey man, it’s always good to go over the preflight checklist if you’ve change things or reinstall ProTools or your computer. I will paste a YouTube link where I go over how to remove the FB360 plug-ins from your audio folder, for some reason these plug-ins cause a conflict with the complete control accessibility speech output. Re: Using LoopBack with Pro Tools
Toby, yes I have done this and I responded to you on WhatsApp. Check your messages and if you have any more questions feel free to reach out. Essentially, you must set up a Pro Tools aggregate within Mitty/audio and then select this option and playback engine within Pro Tools. You then will have the ability to select it on a track within input assignments, the particular application your routing into Pro Tools. Re: urgent request. I've never had a need to do this until now
You can mute your ProTools WhatsApp group in the WhatsApp application, That would be a way of temporarily separating yourself from the group. well at least you wouldn’t get notifications, but could unmute the group at a later date if you wanted to participate again. When you are in the WhatsApp application in the group, at the very top there should be a group icon. if you click on it and in that window you should be able to find a menu that allows you to mute always. Hey Steve, This is Steve Baskis ha ha. Anyway, I wrote Apple accessibility last month because I had a few computers in my home that were on Mojave and I wanted to get to Catalina 10.15.7 without any hassle. Below I pasted in the email from Apple support/accessibility department . I don’t know if the link still works but it should open up in the App Store when you click on it on your Mac computer. Re: Issues creating a tempo curve in ProTools using the tempo events menu
Hey, I haven’t been following this very well. Do you have conductor enabled in the transport? I haven’t done a lot of tempo changes, actually none at all and I’m learning more and more as I go. Re: Melodyne demo
Just to add to this conversation. We learned that you should use the VOCR app to navigate and click the transfer button within the Melodyne plug-in window and to not use the plug in view navigation to click the transfer button, because there is an issue with dynamic content most likely moving the button. I will try to create some sort of demonstration that shows all of this here shortly and replace what Slau created for whats app. Respectfully, Steve Baskis On Dec 5, 2020, at 18:57, Martin (Punky) Sopart wrote: > > Hello Slau! > > Doing my regular research, I just found your Melodyne demo in the PTAccess > Dropbox folder. > Thanks for that. > > Is it the current version 5? > The studio edition or a smaller one? > > That never was possible in Autotune?... > > Best! / Martin > > > > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to ptaccess+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To view this discussion on the web visit > https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/ptaccess/E2EAAF25-D9FD-46C6-90A7-8B619B603088%40cakewalker.de. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Melodyne demo
Hello, I apologize for the misunderstanding, Slau did not put this particular file in the dropbox, but I did. The file is an audio recording from the WhatsApp group, and is a very basic rudimentary demonstration of how to use melodyne Within ProTools version 2020.11, without any kind of accessibility improvement for user navigation. slau is slowly working on different things to improve the accessibility of melodyne, but the work is A slow ongoing project with no exact completion date. I don’t mean to be putting words in your mouth Slau, so please feel free to respond if I’m mistaken. I can also remove the basic demonstration from the dropbox if you would like me to do so. Re: OT: VoiceOver commands
Sorry that it doesn’t make sense. I don’t ever use that command, but I guess it would be useful in some situations. It relates to being able to see certain things it sounds like and sometimes you don’t want to navigate to the very beginning of a webpage if it’s scrolled off screen. I guess that is what I understand, but like I said I don’t use moved to most visible beginning command very much. > On Sep 23, 2020, at 08:07, Martin (Punky) Sopart wrote: > > Thanks for that, but that I tryed first. > The explanation for e.g. VO+Home and VO+Shift+Home are not very helpful. > > Best! / Martin >> -Original Message- >> From: ptaccess@googlegroups.com On >> Behalf Of steve baskis >> Sent: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 3:46 PM >> To: ptaccess@googlegroups.com >> Subject: Re: OT: VoiceOver commands >> >> Hey man, if you press the VO keys and K, >> you will enter keyboard help. Re: Remind her about how to rearrange tracks
I just did a class with icy music on navigation and pointed out some things to a instructor named Kevin Reeves. He repeated the problems on his computer and system. They seem like bugs from what we discussed and may need to be fixed. Specifically with selecting and deselecting tracks within flow tools and then the use of mouse down and up to move tracks. I am using the latest Apple OS Catalina, the latest flo tools and the latest ProTools application. I challenge anybody on the list to go and try to move tracks with the mouse down and up key commands and voiceover and see what happens. I even used a session template and imported the window settings. Not sure what is going on, I still may be making some sort of mistake. Kevin seem to think I was not and should be sending a message to Slau. Thanks everybody for your help, will continue to try to work on it. Re: Remind her about how to rearrange tracks
The key command combination to expand the windows is not announcing anything when I press it, is this normal? When I navigate to the bottom of the mix window and click on the tracks list show/hide button there is no indication of it being collapsed, shown or hidden. This seems strange to me when you tell me collapsed is what I might hear. and when I click on that button the tracklist moves deep within the tracks. When I click the tracks high/Show button again the tracklist will be located closer to the bottom of the mix window. I will continue to try things, but this doesn’t seem to work. I am not sure if my windows are expanding, because when I press the flow tools Key combination, command, option, shift, Z, it does not seem to announce anything. Flow tools seems to be working completely fine for me in all other areas. > On Apr 22, 2020, at 14:29, Slau Halatyn wrote: > > Hi Steve, > At this point, I'd also make sure that both your Edit and Mix windows are > maximized. Slau and everybody, I have checked those settings, I have even reset all my voiceover settings since I customize a lot of things for one-handed use. Almost lost my left arm during combat Operations in Iraq while serving with the US ARMY. Reason why I am blind. Anyway, I will try to troubleshoot this some more, but something fishy is occurring when I do the mouse down. One thing I’m noticing is, when I do the mouse down it goes to this plug-in menu. Re: Remind her about how to rearrange tracks
Slau, I am still having trouble for some reason. I feel like it might be a voice over cursor problem and the location of the mouse pointer. I navigate to the track list and interact with it and move onto the track name in the right column. When I do the mouse down command, it opens up the plug-in menu, which is not at all where I thought my focus was. I have tried to bring the voiceover cursor to the keyboard focus and a few other things, with no luck. What may be the problem if anybody has and idea? Re: Pre-Sonus fader port 8
Slau, Thanks for your response and your patience with me, I am sure people ask these questions over and over throughout time. Having the mute button spoken, is probably not the best example but maybe other spoken commands would help efficiency and speed of workflow like you stated. I mute voiceover quite a bit, so I do relate to what you’re saying. I was just wondering and I appreciate the answer. Slau or anyone knowledgeable in this area, When utilizing a control surface alongside ProTools, will voiceover read aloud the commands you are toggling on the control surface? For instance on the pre-Sonus FaderPort eight or control 24? for instance, if you press the mute button or solo button, will that be read aloud by voiceover? Re: Very specific scenario when editing
Chris, I believe you asked how to heal or fix a separation. Here is how I heal or consolidate a separation. Select the track where your separation/break is located. Find the separation/break by tabbing through your timeline. Once you know that you are on your separation, press the minus key on the numeric pad to nudge backwards 50 ms or so, depending on what your Nudge value is set too. Drop an insertion point by pressing the down arrow. Press the spacebar to play audio just for a fraction of a second and then press the up arrow to make a selection. Now you have that separation/break selected. Go to the tool bar and edit menu and select heal separation or press command H. Special note, you cannot always heal a separation for different reasons. This is how I heal a separation. If anybody has a better workflow or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Like Danny explained, you do not have to make a separation/break. I am still trying to learn a lot of the workflows and techniques required for producing audio and do not have all the answers about why it would be more important to make a separation. Really has a lot to do with your workflow and how you want to manipulate the audio regions and clips I guess. Please, correct me if I am at all wrong. Re: Very specific scenario when editing
Chris, I do not use grid mode, grid mode is very visual and allows you to snap to the grid like you stated. I tend to drop my insertion point where I need to do things and make a selection. I am completely blind and do not have any ability to use the grid to some degree. Slip mode is like what it sounds like, if you pay something on top of audio it slips and does not move. Shuffle mode is like what it sounds like, if you paste audio on the timeline it will shuffle existing audio to the right further down the timeline. well, this is how I understand it and if you follow that link I sent in the previous message, you will hear a demonstration of it. Hello, I would like to help you, but I could be wrong. Please, everybody chime in if I explain it incorrectly, or misunderstood what he’s asked for. I believe you need to change the mode that you are in from F2, slip mode to F1, shuffle mode. I am not in front of a computer right now to doublecheck, but this is what you would do: Press F1, to enter shuffle mode. Find where you want to paste audio and drop the insertion point By pressing, down arrow. Press command E to split the region. Now you can paste in your audio by pressing, command V, Your audio should now fill in and push the later audio to the right down the timeline without pasting over audio you already have recorded. remember for future editing which mode you are in, F1 shuffle mode, or F2, slip mode. I hope I provided the correct information and this helps. Please list all three programs you are running on your Apple system and their exact version numbers if possible? I am doing a fresh install of everything on my computer and would like to run the current software versions that do not have compatibility issues. thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. From what I have studied, > when you hit the/key it should toggle inspector on. When I hit that key it > just says toggle off, which I believe is incorrect. Again from what I’ve > read, shipped/is the key command for turning off the inspector. If I continue > to press the/button it just continues to say toggle off, toggle off, toggle > off. > It is almost like the key commands are not doing what they’re supposed to > maybe the macros are not unpacked properly in keyboard maestro etc. I gave the example of command F one because I believe that key function combination is supposed to read the start time field. Instead, it reads mirror, mirror, mirror every time I push that button. Any more help would be greatly appreciated, would love to use flo tools with ProTools. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group.
